"I spent an extended weekend with my husband and two friends. When we arrived there was a lady waiting for us and helped and showed us the whole complex. Very kind and careful. The commom areas are nice and clean. Rooms have a nice decorations and very charming. Place is walking distance from Tamarindo so you do not need a car!! Excellent price... I recommend the place. Very relaxing with nice atmosphere!!"

"Our family of 5 stayed in this condo at Hacienda Pinilla the week of 4/4/2015-4/11/2015. This was our second trip to Pinilla but our first stay in this condo. The condo was well equipped for our needs and a fabulous location. My seven year old loved the fact that there is a pool right outside the front door of the condo! I would highly recommend Hacienda Pinilla as one of the best places to stay if planning a trip to Costa Rica. Other reviews mention on property activities in Hacienda like horseback riding, golf, and the beach club with great service and food. The JW Marriott is next to the condo but very high priced and the food is average at best. My sons surf and we surfed everyday at playa Avellanas near Lola's. There are great dining options off the property as well such as Lola's, The Beach Box, Mauna Loa and Hotel Mediteranneo. Tamarindo is only a short drive. We had a personal chef come the first night we arrived at the recommendation of the property manager. It was excellent, one of the best meals we had while there, so be sure to ask about that option if you book here! Overall, a great condo and location and I would highly recommend this condo to anyone coming to Costa Rica."

"My husband and I had a lovely two weeks .
We had the privacy we desired , access to the beach club
and appliances that worked .
Close enough to everything but far enough for a quiet oasis.
The private garden and dipping pool were a pleasure ."

"I would give this 4.5 stars but we'll round up to 5. Overall, the condo is a great value for a 3 bedroom 4 bathroom unit and we had a really nice vacation.
I will start out with a few minor negatives to set expectations.
The bathrooms are not air conditioned. The top floor bedroom air conditioning unit cant keep up with the hot weather outside (97degF) in the daytime. It is fine in the night. We had some small ants during the first few days. RPM maintenance came in when we were gone and took care of the issue. We had issues with the safe, some missing bulbs and a small stone blocking the kitchen cold water line. RPM maintenance took care of these issues. Some of the pots/pans need to be replaced. The phone works but has a broken display on it and needs to be replaced. There are 20 steps to climb between floors when you leave the unit. So, 40 steps or 2 flights of stairs gets you to the pool/beach level. If you're in OK shape, this is not an issue. As mentioned a few times, the beach in front of the unit is NOT swimmable. You need to walk 1/4 mile to the left AND make sure you go at a lower tide. That Langosta Playa beach is dangerous when the tide is high or coming in because of strong estuary currents. You cant walk along the beach when the tide is high and need to check the tide tables.
Positives: The view and sunsets are amazing. The furniture in the units are very nice and the beds are comfortable. The pool is wonderful. The beach tidepooling out front is fun (wear sandals.) The employees at the gatekeepers/cleaners were nice. RPM management was great with maintenance, questions and for all our tours. The kitchen worked well for our family to prepare meals. WiFi worked well.
I would say that you need a car to stay here comfortably. The walk to Tamarindo isn't pleasant because the road is un-paved, dusty and hot. The owner recommended Dollar rent-a-car. We got a 4-wheel drive 7 seater with a portable GPS (highly recommend) for $450/week. Remember that Costa Rica is a 3rd world/developing nation. There will be chickens and dogs in the road occasionally. The drivers will pass you on narrow roads. If you are used to driving in cities, you will be fine.
The supermarkets had everything we needed. The fruit, pineapples, mangoes, avocados were amazing. Try some experiments with the local food. We enjoyed Costa Rican plantain chips, a nut mix and their packaged OJ.
Overall, we had a great time and would return."
