  • Perfect end to our perfect trip!

"Our family just returned from Costa Rica where we ended our incredible trip with a wonderful stay at Kathys place. The house was perfect - close enough to town to walk to (5-10 minutes on the beach - depending on how distracted by the water, shells, picture-taking, etc.. you get....) but secluded enough that it felt like we had our own private beach. Which, in a sense, we just about did.... The 'apartment' (which was a cute room with a small kitchen / bathroom and king-size bed ) was perfect for the in-laws; the upstairs/main-house with 2 bedrooms (each with a king bed), 2 bathrooms and full kitchen was perfect for the wife/kids and me. We ended up making coffee in the morning and making a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. The full kitchen was more than enough to make all meals, but we wanted to take in the flavors of Tamarindo....AC in the bedrooms cooled the rooms off quickly, and made for a comfy sleep. The property is raised a bit off the beach, and a quick walk down a short path to the end of the property and after walking down about 20 stairs - you are just about IN the ocean. This house is as close to 'on the beach' as you can get! HIGHLY recommend Casa Doshack! If I were to book another trip to Costa Rica, I would book around the availability of staying here again!"

  • The cow crosses the road

"Costa Rica was just what the doctor ordered. Our family trip included some awesome adventures ( white water rafting & zip lining across the jungle), balanced out by some time at the pool, beach, spa & golf course. We arranged our trips through Tamarindo transfers & tours, and they were wonderful with everything. Prompt, courteous, friendly. We had the same driver( Rodolfo) for all of our trips and he became part of the "family". The location of the property was ideal, close to many amazing restaurants, beach & nearby supermarket( to stock up on some breakfast items, coffee & beverages). Most within a short walk or cab ride. While dining at one of local beachfront restaurants( Nogus), a cow walked on the path through the restaurant. The four of us were amazed, like he knew where he was going. We enjoyed coffee on the patio most most mornings & after dinner drinks in the evening. The owner of the property provided a thorough description of activities, restaurants & places of interest to visit, so it was a wonderful resource for a first timer at the property. Plenty of space for the family, and had almost everything you needed( I forgot a hairdryer). Plenty of lounge chairs at the pool, and we were able to rent chairs/umbrellas at the beach for a nominal fee. Wish we had more time to try some of the other restaurants & cute little coffee shops around town. Hope we can get back soon!!"

  • High Quality Home

"My family of five stayed at this property in July 2014, and had a great experience. the home itself is very high quality...everything is solid and works well. My only complaint is that the home is almost too solid! The doors are heavy and very nice, but when you're sneaking out of your room and don't want to wake your spouse, you have to close them very gently else the sound of the heavy teak may disturb them! We went to Tamarindo primarily to surf. There's not a great break at the beach directly in front of the home, but if you go up the road toward Langosta, there's a parking area and a trail down to a decent break. The little splash pool seemed a bit hokey at first, but we used it everyday. they kids had fun in it, and it was a great way to cool off quickly or rinse from the beach. Also, the quietness of the patio was real wife and I enjoyed sitting out there and relaxing. There were some issues when we stayed there, but they were negligable at best. But the reason I bring it up is that the response to the issues was great! And that's really what you want...responsiveness. Problems are going to happen, as they do nearly everyday. But what sets apart people and services is how the problems are responded to. For example, the wifi wasn't working when we arrived, and it wasn't an easy "call the ISP" issue. The company had to actually do some work out on the street to get the wifi functioning. But in the interim, a smartphone was provided to create a personal hot-spot so we could connect to the internet. It was a quick and creative solution while the bigger problem was being corrected. Last comment: The concierge service was fantastic! Sebastian was friendly and insightful and went above & beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He gave us some "locals only" tips on beaches...but you have to be super-cool like us to warrant that level of service! If you want a nice, comfortable, quiet place that's away from the touristy area, this property is it!"

  • Excellent!

"Our family visited the house recently and the experience was just perfect! The house is beautiful and close to many wonderful beaches. Some appliances need updating, but nothing serious ... We hope to return again next year!"
