  • Pros - excellent beach/location, courteous hosts; Cons - property/furniture could use an upgrade

"We (2 adults and a 2 1/2 year old child) stayed at Alan's and Kathy's house for 3 nights in May. The house is right on the beach and Playa Grande is fantastic, very secluded, private and huge beach, 5 stars! We had the top floor for us which has the master bedroom and 1 bathroom. It also has a loft with extra beds, small living room, kitchen and a huge outside veranda. The veranda is awesome and the views gorgeous, lots of wind too. The master bedroom had A/C and was useful because it was very hot during the time we were there (high of 35-37°C / 95-100°F). The pool was clean and had nice depth, however not for very small kids. The kitchen was well equipped though it could've used a microwave instead of a conventional oven. Kitchen didn't have any kind of condiments and it would've been better if it had the basic items stored (at least sugar, salt, pepper, may be coffee etc.). Some of the furniture is old and broken and could use some refurbishment as well. There is free Wi-Fi (spotty inside) and a small TV which gives you DirecTV programming from the US. Alan and Kathy are very courteous and were helpful with all our needs. I think the housekeeping lady comes once a week. If you are annoyed by harmless insects or ants then it’s not the place for you. There are a few here and there, which never really bothered us. The place isn't really child proof (may be not for very young kids) but we were fine with it. Parking is on street, which is right outside of the gate. We found the area to be safe. Tamarindo is half an hour drive (20 kms) or you can go to the south end of beach (3-4 kms) and take the boat. I have lived in the tropics for more than 20 years and this house reminded me of my granduncle's rustic home where I spent a lot of time growing up, very nostalgic. Loved the trees, the shades and the red tile flooring. I really want to leave 5 stars for this property, and once it gets a refurbishment it’s definitely a 5 star!"

  • Charming and Inviting House in Surfside!

"My husband and I stayed at this house for two weeks this summer. We really enjoyed it. It is in a nice neighborhood that is close to the beach and I really love the Potrero area so for me it was perfect. It was great having the garage to put our rental car in (not many houses have this in Costa Rica) and the fence around the house also made me feel very safe. The house was very cozy and has a cute backyard with a pool that is nice for lounging or cooling off any time of the day. My parents and brother came for a few days and also enjoyed staying at the house during our stay. The owner of the house was lovely to work with and was very accommodating! It was a great vacation and I would definitely recommend this house and stay here again!"

  • perfect paradise

"This vacation rental was a perfect fit for our group. We hosted a yoga retreat at this Villa. The layout is great. It gave everyone the option to have a private room and bathroom and each room came with 2 queen beds, with A/C. There was a large covered outdoor common area for dining and hanging out. The pool was nice. There was also a great outdoor space for us to do yoga and a quant deck overlooking the ocean for mediation. Marcela, the housekeeper, cooked 2 meals a day for our entire group of 13 people. She cooked Costa Rican meals and provided vegetarian and vegan options. The house is merely footsteps from the ocean. We could hear the waves crashing at night while sleeping, it was beautiful. Monkeys were found playing in the trees outside the house a couple time. This house has a local, rustic feel. It's perfectly located in walking or biking distance to Tamarindo and Playa Grande. I would without a doubt offer another retreat here. The property was a great size for large groups. Nova was very helpful in making sure we had everything, from board rentals to massages and airport transportation."

Guanacaste Travel Tips

Guanacaste Beach Rentals Give You the Real Costa Rica

If you are looking for long summer days on beautiful coastlines, Guanacaste beach rentals are for you. Vacations in Costa Rica can be filled with activities, sun, and sand. Enjoy the stunning shoreline, top-notch surfing, snorkeling, and so much more when you stay at Guanacaste resorts. The province is the perfect vacation destination for the whole family or the ideal spot for a romantic honeymoon.

Breathtaking Vistas within the Guanacaste Resorts Regions

All along the eastern borders of the province you will find a chain of volcanoes, many of which are visible from some Guanacaste beach rentals. The volcanoes meet the Cordillera de Tilaran and Cordillera de Guanacaste mountain ranges and offer plenty of hiking, mountain biking, and other high elevation activities. The views in this region are particularly breathtaking, especially when you reach Rincon de la Vieja Volcano Area with its lush forests filled with exotic plants and animals. No one ever said vacations in Costa Rica would not be gorgeous!

Vacations in Costa Rica Offer a Little Culture

As you plan your stay in Guanacaste resorts, you might appreciate learning a little bit about the local culture. The region is rich in culture and even takes its name from the word “quahnacaztlan” which is actually the word for the Guanacaste tree in the native language. This tree also happens to be the national tree of the country. Vacations here, especially those at Guanacaste beach rentals, will allow you the opportunity to see what the real Costa Rica is all about.

The Best Way to Reach Your Guanacaste Beach Rentals

Because it is a foreign country, vacations in Costa Rica do take some planning. The easiest way to reach Guanacaste resorts is to fly into Liberia and land at the Daniel Oduber International Airport. From the airport, you may either rent a car or take a bus through Guanacaste up the Pan-American Highway which is quite scenic. You will even catch a glimpse of the volcanoes on your way.
