"This home is in an excellent location. Very walk able to several beaches, restaurants, market, bars, etc. At the same time, it is a quiet, secluded location. Kai and Ruth are very generous and knowledgeable hosts. They upgraded us to a larger home at no extra cost, and told us some of the things we could do in the area that you don't find in the guide books. The home is fabulous! Beautiful tile floors, hardwoods and windows everywhere. It has a full kitchen and a modern bathroom. We stayed 14 nights and heard and saw many varieties of birds near the house and we had howler Monkeys bunk in the trees right outside our bedroom window one night! I highly recommend this rental. "Popo's Treehouse was an amazing adventure for us. Tad was extremely accomodating. Our flight into San Jose and drive to the coast put us at his place around 1am local time. Tad was available to great us and show us around. Breakfast is included each morning and the coffee plus fresh fruit is a delight. The beach is a short walking distance and was nearly empty every day we were there. No crowds to worry about in Puerto Carrillo. It is a very quiet town and extremely safe. Tad and Suzie gave us great information about local restarants and activities. Even short cuts that took us through dried out river beds. We really got to see all parts of Costa Rica. This is the place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy a bit of nature. The treehouse has everything you need. The shower has great water pressure and the bathroom is clean. The kitchen has a cooktop and refridgerator. The porch upstairs has a hammock and chair and the bedrooms sleeps 4 comfortably. We will definitely be back to Popo's on our next trip to Costa Rica. Thanks!"

  • Homey and well appointed villa

"My husband myself and our 14yr old son stayed at Chris's lovely villa for 10 days. I was reluctant to book a VRBO as we had a previous bad experience. This was a very positive experience from start to finish. A welcome reprieve from our long cold Canadian winter. The villa was exactly as described and more. We lived mostly on the large patio, eating all of our meals outside. The plunge pool was fabulous. We made good use of the blender for margaritas/pina coladas and the new barbeque. Separate AC in every room was a nice touch. Very quiet location at the end of the street. We used the resort pools and enjoyed having cocktails watching the sunset at the restaurant. We did not partake in the meals at the resort.. The trolley to the beach was much appreciated as it is a steep walk up the hill in 38C. We spent most of our vacation enjoying Playa Hermosa and the villa. Great beach for swimming and boogie boarding in the waves. Our son spent many hours perfecting his skim boarding. Favorite memories will be watching the sunset with 2 for 1 cocktails from Roberto's. We also had a few meals there which we thoroughly enjoyed. Look for Adolfo/Alonso (brothers) to take you out to the "island" for a up-close and personal snorkelling experience. Chris's referral to Avispas Adventures was much appreciated. Amy and her crew were very accommodating, prompt and professional. They picked us up at the airport as promised only 20 minutes to the villa. Carlos took us to Playa Grande for a day of surfing. Beautiful never-ending surf and sand. Beware there is no shade here. We also had an enjoyable evening dining at Ginger's. I would suggest to do most food shopping at Coco Beach at the new supermarket, very nice and everything you will need including inexpensive boogie boards and skim boards. The grocery store in P. Hermosa is OK for basics, we found it to be pricey. We were looking for a relaxing beach vacation and this is exactly what we had. We did not see the green/jungle Costa Rica as seen in pictures as it was the end of the dry season. We plan to go back to see the "jungle/adventure" Costa Rica we have heard and seen so much in the rainy season Thanks again Chris"

  • Family Bonding Time

"Renting the villa through Kenny and Annick was a breeze. We emailed, made two payments and voilà, we were booked! Getting to the house was also a breeze. Our driver (we had booked in advance through the owners of the Casa) was waiting for us at the airport. He took us to the office where we retrieved keys to the condo. He dropped us off at the gate of the complex. Nelson, the guard on duty that day, helped us figure out the keys and helped with the luggage. The condo was ready for us: it was air conditioned, clean, furnished, had fresh linens and had every kitchen tool needed to cook our meals (except maybe some bbq tongs, which we ended up buying) plus some spices. The kids decided who would get which room and then changed into their bathing suits. We were off to the beach!!! Tamarindo Beach is very large at low tide and quite long. Walking it from one end to the other takes about 20 minutes if you walk briskly. The walk from to the condo to the beach is so short that the kids would often return to the condo during the day for a break from the waves. We took advantage of the pool at the complex where most of the neighbours were Canadians like us. The ocean water is so warm and it didn't even rain once. Every morning, my husband and I would get up early to walk on the beach. We either walked up to the Estuary or to Langosta beach all the way to the Barcelo. Either way, we would pick up a few items from the grocery store before returning to the condo. We would put together a nice breakfast which we ate at the patio table as we did all our other meals. We usually shopped at the Super 2001 and the Langosta store but went twice to the auto mercado. Food in Tamarindo is much more expensive than we had anticipated but we saved by eating at the house. The house is very well situated: close to the beach, walking distance to center of town and adjacent a lush park where monkeys like to hang out. Visiting the garden were racoons (in the evening for a quick hello), a few geckos, iguanas, birds, huge grasshoppers and a few bats. Every morning, the gardener would hose down our patio area and water the plants, leaving the area clean and welcoming. A cleaning lady came 3 times during our 12 day stay. Though we kept the condo clean, she made it so much cleaner by washing the floors, the towels, the sheets (once during the stay), cleaning the counters and dusting, cleaning the washrooms. The staff was always very friendly. We felt safe at all times."

Guanacaste Travel Tips

Guanacaste Beach Rentals Give You the Real Costa Rica

If you are looking for long summer days on beautiful coastlines, Guanacaste beach rentals are for you. Vacations in Costa Rica can be filled with activities, sun, and sand. Enjoy the stunning shoreline, top-notch surfing, snorkeling, and so much more when you stay at Guanacaste resorts. The province is the perfect vacation destination for the whole family or the ideal spot for a romantic honeymoon.

Breathtaking Vistas within the Guanacaste Resorts Regions

All along the eastern borders of the province you will find a chain of volcanoes, many of which are visible from some Guanacaste beach rentals. The volcanoes meet the Cordillera de Tilaran and Cordillera de Guanacaste mountain ranges and offer plenty of hiking, mountain biking, and other high elevation activities. The views in this region are particularly breathtaking, especially when you reach Rincon de la Vieja Volcano Area with its lush forests filled with exotic plants and animals. No one ever said vacations in Costa Rica would not be gorgeous!

Vacations in Costa Rica Offer a Little Culture

As you plan your stay in Guanacaste resorts, you might appreciate learning a little bit about the local culture. The region is rich in culture and even takes its name from the word “quahnacaztlan” which is actually the word for the Guanacaste tree in the native language. This tree also happens to be the national tree of the country. Vacations here, especially those at Guanacaste beach rentals, will allow you the opportunity to see what the real Costa Rica is all about.

The Best Way to Reach Your Guanacaste Beach Rentals

Because it is a foreign country, vacations in Costa Rica do take some planning. The easiest way to reach Guanacaste resorts is to fly into Liberia and land at the Daniel Oduber International Airport. From the airport, you may either rent a car or take a bus through Guanacaste up the Pan-American Highway which is quite scenic. You will even catch a glimpse of the volcanoes on your way.
