  • A bit rustic, but comfortable enough, and a great jungle experience

"The driveway into the jungle lets you know right away that this house is far from ordinary! If you're looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. The only living rm is upper level deck, & there's no AC, no screens, no tv, & the kitchen is pretty Spartan (no microwave or oven, very few dishes & cooking utensils). But if you want a neat jungle experience, with parrots, toucans, and a sloth in the tree -- TONS of birds, plus a private pool, great wi-fi, a good location and a very reasonable price, then this place will suit you fine. We were concerned there would be mosquitos since the bedroom had no AC and no screens, but we just closed the BR doors before dusk and kept them closed at night & we were never bothered. And yes, we WERE cool enough. The vegetation surrounding the house is lush and beautiful, and you can't see any other houses -- just the jungle. You won't be sleeping in, though, because the howlers and the birds will wake you every day around 6 - 6:30 AM. Then around sunset the bird sounds get quite intense again. We saw small green parrots every night, and saw toucans several evenings too, but sadly no monkeys. We had a sweet little hummingbird sitting on her tiny nest in the arecas by the pool, and twice we saw (and heard) the resident sloth climbing the big tree closest to the house. Sure did hear the howler monkeys though, every morning and sporadically throughout the day and evening, but never got a glimpse of them. Unfortunately we also heard some neighbors' barking dogs quite a few times at night. The upstairs bedroom (1 double bed, 1 single bed) is the better of the 2 bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom is smaller and has no view at all. Both bedrooms - and the upstairs lanai -- have ceiling fans. The bathrooms are about equal and very adequate, with nice showers. Note: This home is NOT for people with disabilities, as the walkway from car to house involves a series of 5 or 6 really tall (10" ??) steps. You could get by here with just bicycles, but if you have a car you may need 4 wheel drive to get up the very last part of the driveway. (Not sure, as ours was a 4x4, so we had no problem.) There is a big sliding gate, which you can lock if you wish. There's also a safe in the bedroom. As the house is at a dead-end maybe 1/3 mile off the road, it's VERY private; you'll find no one is ever walking or driving by. The driveway is located right next to the Duende Gourmet Market in the center of Playa Chiquita - great little store!"

  • Amazing Vacation at Jungle Love Garden House

"Wow! What a fabulous stay we had in wonderful Costa Rica. Poppy and Yamu were truly unforgettable hosts. Exchanging emails prior to booking our stay, Poppy was so helpful with travel information and recommendations. From the moment we arrived we felt safe and at home. The home sits on the beautiful grounds of the delectable Jungle Love Cafe. We HIGHLY recommend eating there at least once (or several times like we did) during your stay). You'll need reservations for dinner, as we learned this is a highly sought after location for dinner (it's not hard to tell why once you've eaten there). Poppy and Yamu were great with getting us set up with this. Yamu is a wonderful chef and the servers are wonderful! Even though the house is near the restaurant, it was very quiet and we were never disturbed by guests. The house had several amenities including Wifi and extra sunscreen and bug spray if needed. Leticia came and cleaned for us on Friday, half way through our stay and a load of laundry was included. The house felt very large and airy, PLENTY of room for just the two of us. The fully equipped kitchen had everything we needed and with a fully stocked market right around the corner we were able to eat several meals right at home. The upstairs bedroom has a large, comfortable bed and A/C which was a must for me when sleeping. We were serenaded to sleep each night with the sound of the jungle. The grounds were amazing, we found so much wildlife just exploring them. A poisonous dart frog and seeing a beautiful toucan the day we left was a cherry on top. Got some wonderful shots of him :) The house is about a 2-3 minute walk to the lovely Playa Chiquita. This is a wonderful beach and was never overcrowded. There is plenty of beachfront to find your own quiet spot to relax. On our walk to the beach we enjoyed watching a clan of howler monkeys swing through the trees. They are all over the place, you just have to look! Puerto Viejo is a short drive or probably a 30 minute bike ride from the house, awesome little beach town with plenty of restaurants and activities. There is plenty to do however within in walking distance of the home. Jaguar Rescue Center is a must, also very close to the home. Everyone rides bikes there so it was very nice that two great beach cruisers were provided with our stay. Really can't say enough great things! Your guestbook showed that many others felt the exact same way as we did. It was bittersweet to leave but we'll be back!"

  • A special place

"My wife and I recently stayed here for two weeks and had a wonderful time. The location is excellent, the area has a multitude of activities and Stephanie with Caribe Sur Rentals was always available before and during our trip to answer questions, help with reservations and make recommendations for restaurants and activities. The house sits behind Punta Uva beach on a beautifully landscaped lot and as noted in another review has all amenities. We took a jungle tour with Abel Bustamante which was exciting, educational and fun, visited the Jaguar Rescue Center in town(private tour recommended) and the Wildlife Rescue Center in Moin, hiked Cahuita National Park and couldnt find a bad restaurant. As always, the incredibly friendly, helpful, gracious Costa Rican people made every day a treasure. As an example, we got lost trying to find the Moin Wildlife Rescue Center and ended up in some industrial complex where a guard who didnt speak English got a guard who did to give us directions. Well, we got lost again and another local person offered to help and was calling the center on his phone for directions when the guard we spoke with pulled up in his pickup truck to make sure we were okay. He had followed to check on us. The only disappointment we had was not being able to snorkel. The water was excellent for swimming and body surfing but too rough for snorkeling. You can check the surf levels at if interested. So, lots of stuff to do close by and/or relaxing/ reading in a hammock listening to the sound of the water aint bad either."

Limon Travel Tips

The Less Traveled Part of Costa Rica Found in Limon Beach Rentals

The Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica is a beach-lover’s dream and that is where you will find Limon beach resorts. The Limon region is set apart from the rest of the country, so it offers something completely different to visitors since it is the least traveled. Spanning 125 miles, it is almost always hot and humid. Vacations in Costa Rica to the Limon province allow you to experience the country as many people typically do not. Boasting prehistoric rainforests, white sandy beaches, and unique wildlife, Limon resorts offer you one of the most memorable vacations ever.

Limon Vacations in Costa Rica Are Like No Other

If you are interested in vacations in Costa Rica, you should not miss the Limon province. Booking Limon resorts may be easier than other regions of the country as this is a far less traveled area. Situated just a short drive from San Jose, Limon was once a major banana port and is known to be the melting pot of the country. During Carnivale, the city turns into party central and is definitely something to experience.

If You Love Nature, You Will Love Limon Resorts

Taking vacations in Costa Rica allows you to see one of the more lush countries in the world. The rainforest is not the only reason to explore the Limon region. The coast is rich in wildlife as well and some of the best scuba diving opportunities await you just outside your Limon beach rentals. Home to several national parks, Limon boasts Tortuguero National Park and Cahuita National Park, Limon. Both offer an array of wildlife viewing and the latter is also the home to the last indigenous tribes of the country--the Cocles, Bribri, and Talamanca Cabecarv.

Set Your Sights on the Sloth near Limon Beach Rentals

If you need a small break from the day-to-day bustle of the city and beach near your Limon beach rentals, one of the best ways to break the cycle is to head over to Vargas Park. The park is not too far from most Limon resorts. Go ahead and grab a seat near the drooping seawall and keep your eyes open for some sloth. These slow creatures stay pretty well camouflaged and move incredibly slowly but love to hang out at this park. And when you are not sloth-spotting, try some local fare and shopping. It will be one of your most memorable vacations in Costa Rica yet.
