"We traveled with 2 other families and stayed 8 days (not long enough!). We were a total of 6 adults and 6 kids (two 7 yr olds, two 6 yr olds, and two 4 yr olds). Honestly, the pictures don't do this place justice. All of our jaws dropped when we arrived. The place is far more spread out than we had imagined, making us feel like we had our own private resort. To top it off, the staff was amazing. We feel in love with Asenath, who along with Angela does the cleaning and cooking (if you want). We hired them to cook every breakfast and dinner for us, and once again they went above and beyond. The meals were not only amazing but less expensive than if we had eaten out - it was the icing on the cake for our trip. We were greeted each morning with a huge smile and a cup of coffee in hand for each of us. She arranged all of our meals around our schedules and to our likings (we menu planned with Paola when we arrived). The grounds keeper cut open fresh coconuts for everyone and there was a freshly picked hanging of bananas for us to enjoy during our stay. We absolutely enjoyed everything about our stay and honestly can't say enough great things about it. The area also offered tons to do. The Jaguar Rescue Center is a must do, we (including 7 and 4.5 yr old) enjoyed the ChocoRart tour, Punta Uva was a great kids beach for swimming, we introduced snorkeling to the kids (have to hit it on a calm day though) at the beach just south of Punta Uva, we all went ziplining, swimming with/on the horses at Caribe horse riding club, kayaking with Nature Riders, and surfing (can be rough with lots of rips, so just need to go at the right time of year, which we hit perfectly). Can't wait to go back!!!"

"We spent almost two weeks at Casa Del Caribe the first of this month (June 2015). It was an awesome place that was exactly what we were looking for. The owner was extremely helpful while we were booking the house and answered all of our questions very quickly. He went above and beyond with helpful information. Once we got there we met the next door neighbor, Freddy. He was also very helpful. We actually hired him to take us on a few guided tours. There are a lot of great tours, just talk to Freddy. It was after dark when we arrived by taxi. It was a little difficult to find even following Roberts instructions. His instructions were great, it is just a little hard to find. But, if you follow his instructions you will get there. Just go right past Johanna's Soda and take a right in the little lane off of the alley and keep walking. Her soda is not on the main road. You have to turn right off of the main road and keep going until you see her soda. Then turn right in the alley right behind it. We enjoyed the openness of the house, but also felt safe since we were able to lock the stairway gate behind us when going to bed. It is also very nice that the Super Cocles grocery store is right there within walking distance. It was also nice to have the bicycles to use as well. We used them most days. The house is exactly what we were looking for...very nice and clean and one with nature. It is a very open floor plan. It was also nice having the safe to lock up our valuables when we weren't there. We walked or biked to the beach several times per day. One of the last days we were there we saw a whole group of howler monkeys on our way to the beach. They were just hanging out in the trees doing their thing. We watched them for 30 minutes.
This is a great place to stay and if we ever make it back to Costa Rica we will definitely try to stay at Casa Del Caribe again."

"Estuvimos una semana con amigos en Puerto Viejo y esta casa tiene todo lo necesario, las habitaciones muy comodas, cocina equipada, tiene un jardin enorme y la piscina esta buenisima. Perfecta para visitar con grupos de amigos y familia. Muy cerca de la playa, restaurantes y supermercado. Tienes todo lo que necesitas en un solo lugar."

Cute, close to the beach, close to town, great price
"My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Caracola for 5 days in July. We really enjoyed ourselves! The house was simple but nice. The layout is perfect and it felt huge. We especially liked that the bedroom area with floor to ceiling glass doors that opened up to the balcony. We could hear the ocean waves all night. We also never felt hot in the house, even thought it doesn't have AC. It doesn't need AC because the ocean breeze keeps it cool. The house was clean with fresh linens and towels when we arrived. The caretaker, Thomas, was helpful. Especially when we had trouble finding the house upon arrival in the PV area. We couldn't actually SEE the ocean from our balcony because there are some trees between but this didn't bother us-just think it's worth mentioning. We rented bikes from Thomas and were able to get pretty much everywhere in town this way. The bike chains were a little rusty but some oil improved things a lot. The house is a long walk or a quick bike ride from town. It felt like the perfect distance to me. Close enough to access restaurants and shops easily but far enough to escape some of the town noise and traffic. The gardens surrounding the house were beautiful with lots of little critters and pretty flowers. I liked that the property was gated because it let us feel much safer about keeping all the windows open while we slept. My only significant complaint is that the wifi does not work very well within the house. It seems that the wifi router for the entire area is located in the other house. I could get wifi if I was out on the porch/closer to the other house but not from inside Casa Caracola. One other tip for anyone who decides to rent this property, we learned that in the PV area there is a La Caracola and this property Casa Caracola. La Caracola is more well known so you'll have to be very specific with taxi drivers/tour picks ups about the location of where you're staying or they hear Caracola and assume it's the other property. Overall, we were very satisfied! We will definitely consider this house again if we return to the area."
