"Everything is as stated in the VRBO ad: a beautiful 3 bedroom home right on the beach; comes with a wonderful host (Anja) who lives not far away and is VERY helpful with all your tourist needs. We flew into San Jose, rented a car and took the day driving to the house. You will live amongst the locals as there are NO resorts or large hotels here. The small town about one km away has many shops, restaurants and grocery stores for everything you need. So many things to see and do, that we could have stayed longer to enjoy it all - animal rescue centers, jungle/tribe tours, many, many beaches (black and white) with amazing snorkeling, national parks, a trip to Panama (20 minutes to the border), deep sea fishing, etc, etc.....We have always stayed in all inclusive resorts but this holiday was very different from that....this will probably be the way I will travel from now on. I fell in love with Costa Rica - this trip will stay in my heart forever. Please feel free to contact me for any other info!"

"We stayed with our grown-up family in Feb/Mar 2015 and found the house quiet and relaxing. It is big and spacious, and pleasantly cool when the shutters are open, except for the upstairs bedroom which gets hot during the day - but this room has air con if you need it. We found that overnight that bedroom cools and we never used the air con., just the fans was enough. Our favourite space was the verandah, which has plenty of room and is shaded - a lovely place to enjoy looking at the trees and birds whatever the weather. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are all fine and the management made sure we had wifi. The location is good if you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Viejo, which can generally be reached by walking along the beautiful Playa Negra beach (depending on the tide!) The local facilities are great. the Point is ten minutes walk away, on the beach, and does good food and great beers. The Banana Azul hotel is just a few minutes away, also on the beach, and is very happy to welcome casual visitors to use its bar, its super restaurant and other facilities (eg bikes and beach loungers) - you can have the best of both worlds, home and hotel! We all had a great time and will definitely go back."

"We just got back from staying here for 10 days in April 2015, and had a great time. We had 5 people total -- 2 adults and 3 kids. It was a fantastic place for us, and by the end of the trip, the kids were playing cards and dominoes, and didn't even miss their electronic devices. This house had plenty of room, with beds to spare. The hammocks were relaxing and fun for the kids as well. We saw amazing wildlife on the property - frogs, birds, and even a sloth falling out of a tree and climbing into another tree. There were geckos in the showers, and our kids got a show at night watching the geckos and lizards eating bugs on the ceiling. The kitchen served our needs perfectly for our meals, and we were close enough to restaurants and town to walk if we wanted to. We were within 20-30 minutes drive of amazing places, like Cahuita, the Jaguar Rescue Center, Manzanillo, and waterfalls and chocolate. And, if we just wanted to hit the beach, we just had to cross the street.
Carter is a friendly, fantastic host. We had fresh, organic bananas daily, and he helped us set up excursions, like a canopy tour. He gave us a complete tour of the property, and they even have a nature trail on site. Their 4 dogs were gentle and sweet and practically visited daily.
Puerto Viejo was a great place to visit, and I highly recommend staying at with Carter and Pamela at Finca Loco Natural!"

"My sons (9 and 11) and I spent 5 days here on their spring break. We had a wonderful adventure and really enjoyed the accommodations. The open air house was very nice and provided a wonderful experience for us. We used the house as a base for our adventures that included zipping, snorkeling, boogie boarding, bike riding and gelato. To and from Puerto Viejo was easy and we used a combination of bikes, beach walks and taxis. Pamela was a wonderful host and provided just the right amount of assistance and information while leaving the decisions and schedule up to us."
