A gem of a place in unique position
"Cielomar is an extraordinary place. I have never been so close to nature and the delight of having toucans, monkeys and parrots in the trees around us in the mornings made every breakfast a special occasion. The 27ha preserve (literally the back garden!) gave us immediate access to primary rainforest with trials taking you deep inside, just wonderful. Mixed in with this you have the relative luxury of the pool area with fantastic views of the sea. Wildlife is all around as you swim in the pool with colourful birds and even large iguanas up trees on a couple of days!
Be prepared to accept the full experience. This house is in the jungle and there are, of course, plenty of insects and we had a resident snake adjacent to the house (wonderful to look out and easily avoided). The track to the house is not a three lane motorway, its a rough track (4wd definitely needed) that takes you to a privileged position in genuine unspoiled rain forest.
Just a joy to stay there and if were not so far from England we'd be back on a regular basis. Jeff, the caretaker, is a lovely guy who knows the area really well and gives very reliable sound advise (and he plays a mean blues guitar!)
If you love nature, adventure and something different go there! if you love "formula" beach resorts disneyland and hotel luxury - don't!

"I arrived in February in Costa Rica, I stayed with my husband in the beautiful house of Troy.
I was immediately seduced by the environment, the beautiful garden, the flowers of all colors.
Bruno the sloth from the comfort of a tree, displaying a teasing smile of welcome.
Everything in this property calls for calm and zen.
The house is just as welcoming, everything is what I needed, nothing is missing.
The importance there, it is only necessary to enjoy and relax.
The house is tastefully arranged, very clean.
Owner Troy is available, showing all the necessary information and to practice my stay.
In summary, my experience went wonderfully,
I relaxed, inspired by the magic of this place.
I leave Costa Rica with a souvenir colors and smells of this beautiful house, which I will talk to my friends with great pleasure.
Thank you to Troy,
Owner of the quality of services.
I’m sorry for my bad english, I come from Italy"

"La Patita de Manzanillo is an extraordinary place! I spent a couple of days with my family and we all love it! The house is conveniently located a few minutes walk from the beach through the main road which is surrounded with vegetation and beautiful pictoric houses. We could see monkeys while walking on the main road. The house has everything needed, bedding, towels and kitchen utensils, even drinking water is supplied for your stay, that was a plus for us as we were very thirsty when we arrived. The house is very well maintained and clean, with a few hammocks around to rest and enjoy the jungle that surrounds the house. I loved to wake up in the middle of the jungle!!! Yari and Sita were extremely helpful, very kind people to deal with. we arrived quite late at night and Yari was still awaiting for us. Sita responded my request wishing a few hours and we were able to arrange my stay even when it was a last minute request. The only detail to make it perfect would be to arrange a deal with the owner of the property next to the beach to allow access to guests of la Patita through his path to the beach but that doesn't make my review less than 5 stars because really the place is a paradise. Thank you Sita for allowing me to have this beautiful experience!!"

"We stayed at Casa Mambo for a week in early November and found it to be a very special place. There were 4 of us, but it would accommodate 6 easily, being 3 bedroom. The living spaces are completely open; the bedrooms have secure doors and comfortable beds with mosquito netting to sleep under. Although, I don't think we saw a single mosquito! We did see lots of frogs, and revelled in being surrounded by the sounds of insects and birds, especially in the early morning. You know you are in a special place when you see Keel-billed Toucans flying into the trees! Our hosts were very experienced, but also very low key. They made sure we had everything we needed, and gave us suggestions for things to do and see while there. I especially appreciated feeling like we were staying in a close-knit neighborhood. The house was well-equipped, and we enjoyed cooking there. There were fans in each of the rooms, but I would have loved a ceiling fan in both the living room and on the big covered deck. Would have made it even better! It was nice to be able to walk 10 minutes or so to the beach, and to the neighborhood restaurant and bar! The main town, with lots of restaurants and shopping, is an easy 20-25 minute walk away. A great place to chill out for a week."
