  • Relaxation and adventure at its finest

"What's better than an early morning horseback ride down to the beach and then up into the jungle? That was just our first day at Paraiso de Miguel. The breathtaking sunsets both from the house and from the beach are amazing. The best part about the rental is your neighbors, Michael and Elizabeth. They are willing to do whatever it takes to make your vacation the best Costa Rican experince possible. Great people, beautiful scenery,"

  • Idyllic Spot for Family Vacation

"My husband and I couldn't have been any happier with our choice to secure Villa Mayana for our 1-week family vacation in August ‘14. Not only was it an idyllic spot for a restful yet adventurous week, but we also chose this home for the location of our intimate, family-only wedding. All 15 (11 adults & 4 kids, 2-12) fit very comfortably between both wings of the house and had an unreal week. I'll start by saying we were a bit nervous picking a place we had not seen first for the spot of our wedding, but the photos really do a great job depicting reality-in fact, I don't think they do it justice! We were fortunate to see the property during our 1 planning trip in May and were blown away. We were also a bit nervous about the in-country flights and chose to do 1-way driving and 1-way flying during our initial visit. We think flying to/from Quepos is the way to go! Ana, the house manager, who also doubled as our wedding planner, was nothing short of amazing. She planned all of our activities from zip-lining to white-water rafting to the hike around the private reserve, in addition to coordinating both a masseuse and a yoga instructor to come to the house. She connected us with Citrus for our rehearsal dinner and Bamboo Taco Truck for a beach day with tacos! She was always available to us-both before and while we were there. Ana was incredibly resourceful and organized when it came to the wedding. Message me if you want a full planning review. Roberto, the chef, was so accommodating when it came to different diets and food requests. Every meal was delicious! He's got a great personality and we really felt like he was part of the group by the end of the week. Adolfo, Roberto's assistant, was wonderfully hospitable. There is an awesomely oversized wood table, which allowed the entire family to eat together for every meal. This was one of our favorite things about the house. Nelson, the gardener who doubled as our hiking guide, was so helpful the entire week both around the house in the rare case something needed to be fixed and during the wedding day. He was super patient with us during the hike too! The cleaning staff was on point and always had a friendly smile around. We echo the prior reviews-this will be a dream vacation. We feel lucky the owner, Rick, built this stunning property and opened it up to us for such an important time in our lives. We would not have changed a thing-it was stress-free and perfect! Happy to be contacted with questions."

  • Enchanting, Secluded Tropical Hacienda

"We just returned from two weeks at Don Tomas' enchanting tropical hacienda where we had a spectacularly relaxing vacation! We thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of seclusion that his lovely home offers, while still being easily accessible to groceries and the funky coastal town of Santa Teresa (which has an array of exceptionally good restaurants!). Our favorite activities included reclining on the wrap around porch to delight in the myriad of tropical flowers and wildlife, (iguanas, hummingbirds, butterflies, birds, squirrels, crabs) that abound on the unique grounds--which are also spectacular in that they are filled with ancient tropical trees, hanging vines and tropical flowers. The backdrop of crashing surf sounds are as soothing as the surfing is exhilarating! Returning from the beach to an outdoor shower, lovely private pool and porch hammocks was also a treat. The house is simply furnished, yet has all the basics that one needs--with a very comfortable queen size bed. Charming murals decorate the rooms and the porch houses a lovely sculpted column of intertwined goddesses. Josefa, the caretaker, is exceptionally kind and welcoming and was ever so helpful with whatever was needed--a caring and responsive hostess! We were enchanted, are telling others about this tropical beachfront gem of a place--and are already looking forward to our next trip there!"

  • I will return!

"First, no matter what I say after this, "expect me back". The interior of the house was well maintained, clean and adequate space for two people. It was excellent to work with Paula the owner and Claudette the caretaker. They were both very responsive to every email and phone call. I wanted a quiet get away and that's what I got. The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals and though we did forget some minor things, they were easily found within a five minute drive. The ocean was literally a stone throw away, which was the best part of the stay. The sound of the ocean and the ocean breeze was so relaxing and tranquil. The internet worked great, so I could lay in the lounge chair on the large exterior covered porch and enjoy NFL games and the atmosphere of the ocean simultaneously. If I had anything to recommend for improvement would be the bed in the master bedroom. It's a small room, so I know it would be difficult for a larger bed to fit, but the pillows on the master bed did not smell so fresh and my feet hung out over the foot of the bed. We did meet Dan the neighbor a very pleasant chap from Ohio, I will not hold that against him and his mellow dog Donna. It became funny that Donna always knew when to show up for meal time. :) All in all, I loved my stay and definitely looking forward to a return visit."
