  • Fantastic for groups

"We recently came to pura vida casa for a company work away with 19 people and had an amazing stay. Chloe and Dan we're incredible hosts, Organizing all forms of logistics including chef prepared meals for the team, activities like zip lining and surfing, transportation everywhere, any frankly anything else we asked for all with a smile. This was critical for a group of our size and made the trip run smoothly. The houses are beautiful and meticulously cared for. They easily accommodated our group and frankly the master suite was so nice that I felt a little sheepish taking it. The Internet, while not fast by any means worked which was huge for us. The beach is literally 3-5 min car ride away and it's great for lounging and surfing. Would we come back again? Yes in a heart beat. Great homes and great hosts."

  • Best apartment living in Santa Teresa!

"For apartment living in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, there is no better place to stay than the centrally located Plaza Royal. The apartments are on the second floor, and there are retail shops on the ground floor. The apartments are clean, secure, air-conditioned, and well-maintained. The property manager and the owner of Plaza Royal are super conscientious, and they go out of their way to make sure that their clients have a wonderful time and get everything they need. Each apartment has a large kitchen, at least one large bedroom, and a huge front room and kitchen with large windows and a beautiful view of the plaza and the restaurants across the street. Wi-fi, cable television, and weekly cleaning service are all included. On the ground floor of Plaza Royal are all of the retail shops you could want for the beach life. Lost in Santa Teresa Surf Shop is owned and operated by an excellent surfer and highly experienced surf instructor. La Sandwicheria, a new deli-style café, is owned and operated by a lovely Argentine couple. Joy Spa boasts highly trained massage therapists, hair-stylists, and other spa-professionals. Lula is a delightful women’s beach clothing store that is very reasonably priced. Lastly, the Plaza Royal management office is also on the ground floor of the building, which makes asking questions and solving problems very easy. All of the employees and owners of these shops are cordial, relaxed, and professional. They all know each other and get along very well, which makes Plaza Royal like a community within a community. Perhaps best of all, Plaza Royal is a two-minute walk from the beach. You will love this place!"

  • Nice home at nice price

"This villa, set at the end of a street, provides privacy in the heart of Manuel Antonio, yet there is easy access to the beach, park, tour operators, stores, and restaurants. There is a panoramic, sweeping view of a pristine valley, with a vista of mountains and sea beyond, where we watched beautiful sunrises every morning while sipping coffee and bird watching. In the neighborhood we saw a squirrel monkey, a sloth, and a rare duck (gray billed wood rail), iguanas, and many lovely birds. The private pool was a great place to unwind after the beach or the other exciting activities we did in the area (zip lining, white water rafting, surfing and paddle boarding, the Nat Park). While the home isn't luxurious, it has a nice kitchen, there is a nice view from inside, and there are verandas on 3 sides for nice light and bird watching. The home is safe, gated, and kept up by the caretaker, Elaudio, a very gentle, sweet man who is friendly and kind, and helpful without ever being intrusive. It is a roomy home where your family can enjoy their time together with privacy and space in a non-fussy atmosphere at a reasonable price. We recommend arriving during daylight hours, as the road leading to the house is daunting at night, with a steep drop that is not nearly as frightening in the daylight. There is a store just a .5k walk away, and you can catch the bus into town at the turn off to the little road, but you'll appreciate having a car if you stay here. My spouse and I are both over 55 but fit and enjoyed walking down the lane daily, but if you older or have mobility issues, it could pose a problem."

  • Beach-jungle hideaway

"I got to spend a week staying in the Villa Pochote and it was awesome. I really appreciated that there was air conditioning to ensure a great nights sleep. The house had a kitchen and two big bathrooms, including one with 2 shower heads that would be great for families. The owner, Trey, built the houses and the pride in craftsmanship is apparent in every detail. It had amazing sunset views from the deck which looked over the pool through the trees to the ocean. There were howler monkeys every day and some of the coolest looking iguana. The beach is just a short walk away but I recommend getting a quad (ATV) because it's fun and makes everything quickly accessible. I loved my stay and I'm planning a return trip so I'd definitely recommend it to family and friends."
