  • Week stay on amazing property

"Our stay at Casa de Suenos was a great experience. We drove from the the airport and stayed near Jaco for a week. We then drove south for about an hour and easily found Dominical and met up with the property manager who took us to the house. We were very happy to see that the house had such an incredible view and was also very private. We spent a lot of time on the large porch enjoying the sunsets and lighting shows. We came during the rainy season so some nights had some Tstorms but overall it was pretty dry all day. The house was only a few minutes drive to town and any number of beach access points. We felt like we had our own private piece of paradise as there wasn't anyone else around to make noise. Some of the places to stay in town were very close to other hotels/hostels/homes and seemed more noisy. We could not have asked for a more perfect place to explore some of Costa Rica's best sites."

  • Costa Rica - Paradise

"Casa de Carroll was great. We stayed for one week and would definitely go back. The home is exactly as shown in the pictures and was a great base for our adventures. Our party included 2 adults and 4 kids (18, 18, 16, 12). The owner and local manager were always responsive to our questions before and during our stay. We saw monkeys, birds and a horse (in the pasture below the house) on a daily basis. The location was perfect and made excursions to Ojochal, Uvita, Dominical and other areas within easy driving distance. The home is very private....you don't see another house or person while on property. Most evenings were spent in the pool after a long day at the beach or exploring. The house was well equipped and had almost everything we needed (cooking utensils, pool towels, hammocks, hair dryer, etc.). A couple of maintenance issues were addressed quickly by the local manager. I highly recommend Tito at Uvita360 if you want to rent surf boards. We rented the boards and took them to Playa Hermosa, our favorite beach. Whitewater rafting with Karlos and his son, Ernesto, from Autentico Adventures was a fun day. Osa Canopy Tour was exhilarating. The ATV tour with Diamante Tours was cool. We saw waterfalls and panoramic views that we probably would have missed otherwise. The waterfall at El Pavon is not to be missed (not part of the ATV tour). Be advised that eating out in Costa Rica is not cheap. I highly recommend eating at the local sodas and buying fruit at the roadside stands ...it will save you A LOT OF MONEY. The local grocery stores were well stocked, too. Exchange your currency for Costa Rican Colones. For the best exchange rate go to a bank, not the airport currency exchange. Bank = 528 Colones per $1USD v Airport Currency Exchange = 460 Colones per $1USD (13% difference!!). Most local businesses give you 500 Colones....not bad, but exchanging cash currency for Colones at a bank is easy (btw...there is a bank on the top concourse at the SJO airport, don't use the current exchange near baggage claim). My last piece of advice is be sure to have very detailed driving directions from SJO to Casa de Carroll (GPS even better). We got lost in San Jose and on the way to Jaco. You will need about 1,000 Colones for tolls on Route 27. However, once at Casa de Carroll, you will relax and enjoy. Thank you Jim and Patti for sharing your piece of paradise with us."

  • Paradise Found

"This property is stunning. We loved every minute of our week spent in the Villa Baha. My husband and two sons, ages 13 and 16, love to explore but we had to tear ourselves away from the splendours of the Villa. We enjoyed the pool immensely and the ping pong table provided us with lots of family fun. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook lovely gourmet meals, dining al fresco in candle light. We picked herbs, star fruit and lemons growing on the property. It was a real treat making fresh squeezed lemonade from fruit picked that day. Jose the gardener also cut down coconuts for us to enjoy. The beds were super comfy and the house is beautifully decorated. The new shower in the master bathroom is heavenly. The views, the gorgeous landscaping and the warm saltwater pool were the highlights for us. Waking up to the sounds of the tropics and being lulled to sleep by the jungle creatures was magical. The Villa is in a nice location. Only 15 mins to surfing in Dominical (we took lessons through Costa Rica Surf Camp) and 15 minutes in the opposite direction to the trailhead of Nayauca Falls. We opted to hike the trail (1.5 hours one way) rather than take a horseback riding tour and it worked out perfectly. We were still able to climb the falls, then jump off them with the guided tour. Swimming under the falls is a must. We also did a day trip to Manuel Antonio, hiring a guide at the park gates, then hanging out on the beaches and playing in the waves. There are lots of sodas, fruit stands and restaurants within a half hour of the Villa. It is definitely the kind of place where you can do as little or as much as you want. Amy was an excellent resource for our trip planning. Her willingness to share her knowledge of Costa Rica ensured that our first week prior to our arrival at the Villa Baha was outstanding. If you want an authentic Costa Rica experience, rent Villa Baha! You will get a taste of paradise and when you return home, you will start planning a return trip! Thank you Amy and Richard!"

  • Vistas Infinitas . . . Say's it All!

"Upon our late arrival, we were greeted with a big smiling welcome from Nickie (house manager), who showed us around your beautiful home! It was more magnificent than depicted on the website, extremely well appointed, kitchen fully equipped and comfortable beds! Every detail thought of, the fans, lighting, books, etc. The landscaping around the home was full of tropical foliage with landscape lighting at night actuating the lipstick palms to bougainvillea framing in the view of the Pacific Ocean from the porch! My wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary with another couple and your home provided the perfect setting! Each morning began with gazing at the ocean as the sun rose revealing the colors of the flora of the surrounding mountains . . . after breakfast we explored the country, Quepos Fiera (Saturday), Hacienda Baru (nature trail and zip line), Manuel Antonio, the Organic Fiera in San Isidro (Tuesday's), and afternoon's in the pool (very private), until the rains refreshed earth, then the sunsets, what more can I say! We had visits from Toucan's, Humming Bird's and the resident frogs, a real treat! Showering using the outdoor shower, before dinner each night was Pura Vita with orchids peeping over the rail and the mountain side was the shower curtain! The broad selection of reference books gave insight to the birds, animals and culture of Costa Rica! We were so into the outside world that we didn't turn on the satellite TV at all. WiFi handled data transfer with no problem, and annoying bugs were virtually non existent at that altitude. 4x4 recommended, drive slow and look for wildlife! Nickie was a great help and wonderful to share when, where and what about Costa Rica . . . Perfect pick for us, thank you for sharing your home!"
