  • exactly as pictured, delightful home!

"My husband and I stayed for two weeks in this lovely home. The pictures are completely accurate - clean, a/c and hot water work well. Beach is directly across the little road - we rarely saw anyone on the beach, and saw no more than 15 people on weekend days. Very peaceful. Claudia was very responsive to contacts and set us up for two tours (zipline was great; monkey boat tour is great if you just want to see and have fun with monkeys - if you want a narrated tour describing all of the flora and fauna you see in the mangrove, choose one other than Rafa). Some other reviews mentioned security - if you behave as you would in a big city (lock the doors, don't leave belongings unattended), you're fine. We felt totally safe. Must have car."

  • The best lemonade ever!!

"After our daughter's wedding got cancelled, we were looking for some place where we could make lemonade out of lemons. And boy, did we! First off, Chloe was great to work with, answering all of our questions, giving suggestions about various activities, and giving practical advice about how to get around, where to buy groceries, rent a car, etc. We were a group of 11 adults and 3 children. The Oceana house was perfect for us. In addition to the beautiful view and breezes, we loved the pool, the covered patio, and the soccer field. We decided to use the driver and van rather than rent our own van and we were thrilled with that service. Our driver, Ronald, was fabulous. Always on time, patient and helpful. We all fit in one van - car seats and all. We did rent a smaller car which was helpful for runs to the store or for shuttling people/babies to and from the beach. We used the catering service for two of our meals. It was so nice to come back to a delicious and plentiful meal after a day of activities. Chloe introduced us to some local women she uses as babysitters who spoke English and Spanish. They were so good with the children. Chloe made the reservations for activities that catered to our needs. We wanted more adventure than the standard tourist activities so our activities included a class IV river rafting run, the Superman zip line in addition to the canopy zip line, surfing, hiking to Tres Pilas and then cliff jumping into the pools, and going on the Rain Maker night tour in the jungle. Daniel, Chloe's husband, and his friends were excellent surf instructors who even climbed the coconut trees and gave us all agua de pipa to drink. Our biggest frustration was that some of the activities took longer than expected primarily because of drive time. With small children this was hard. Also, some of the activities included meals which we didn't realize until we got to the activity. This trip was the adventure of a life time. We'd love to come again and will stay at Pura Vida if we do. Thank you Chloe and Daniel. You're the best!!"

  • Great central location

"My wife and I arrived late Saturday night and much to our surprise, didn't get lost. We arrived at the Jardines del Pacifico and the guard was waiting for us with the keys and his assistance. When we arrived, the a/c was on (it was unseasonably warm while we were there), the house was clean and well appointed. We opted to sleep in the downstairs bedroom, but the upstairs loft would have been a great option as well(it was very roomy up there)! There are three a/c units which keeps the house nice and cool, but don't run them if you are not in the house as electricity is very expensive in Costa(unlike everything else)! The house has a washer and dryer which is very important to us as we love our clean laundry. The home owners assoc. pool is awesome(the pictures on the vrbo website don't do it justice). The neighbors and guard were very friendly and helpful, especially Greg and Arlene (the property managers) and Oscar (the gate guard during the day). We awoke Sunday morning to the sounds of singing birds serenading us. We went down to Playa Bejuco (the name of the "town" as well as the local beach). It's a short walk and even a shorter drive and, much to our surprise was practically deserted, as it was every time we went. We saw flocks of wild scarlet macaws, the water was very warm and pretty rough (be careful), but still enjoyed playing in it daily! There is a restaurant called Sunsets on the road to the beach which was our favorite! Maria, Carlos and Jason treated us like kings and the had Jagermeister!! My wife gets very animal deprived when we go on vacation, but the resident iguanas filled that void as she would feed them fruit every day! We went shopping in Jaco, the sleepy surf town 20 minutes north twice. Parrita, another decent sized town, is 20 minutes south. We took Rafa the monkey man's mangrove tour where we feed monkeys bananas, which was super entertaining. We swam at Tres Picinas (3 pools) and the hike and cliff jumping was incredible. I'd recommend a guide as it is little hard to find. We also made it to manual Antonio which is a beautiful beach/park town with lots of restaurants and shops for your enjoyment. One thing we missed out on was stopping to see the crocs at the torcales bridge. You drive over it coming and going, so definitely take the time. All in all, a fantastic trip/home/ area I would recommend to anyone!"

"We loved Paradise found! It was the perfect Costa Rican getaway house with all the necessary amenities from cookware to beach towels! No air conditioning, but ceiling fans in every room kept the house cool. Nice veranda out front to escape the hot sun and look out at the beach a few yards away. Lovely clean pool was refreshing and a great place to sip cocktails in the evening. Several restaurants close by including Los Pelicanos-our favorite! Short drive to Jaco for grocery stores, bank, gift shops etc. Great house for familiies and or group of friends. Mark, the caretaker and his sweet family live on the premises and are there to answer questions or give advice. We can not wait to go back!"
