  • I will return!

"First, no matter what I say after this, "expect me back". The interior of the house was well maintained, clean and adequate space for two people. It was excellent to work with Paula the owner and Claudette the caretaker. They were both very responsive to every email and phone call. I wanted a quiet get away and that's what I got. The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals and though we did forget some minor things, they were easily found within a five minute drive. The ocean was literally a stone throw away, which was the best part of the stay. The sound of the ocean and the ocean breeze was so relaxing and tranquil. The internet worked great, so I could lay in the lounge chair on the large exterior covered porch and enjoy NFL games and the atmosphere of the ocean simultaneously. If I had anything to recommend for improvement would be the bed in the master bedroom. It's a small room, so I know it would be difficult for a larger bed to fit, but the pillows on the master bed did not smell so fresh and my feet hung out over the foot of the bed. We did meet Dan the neighbor a very pleasant chap from Ohio, I will not hold that against him and his mellow dog Donna. It became funny that Donna always knew when to show up for meal time. :) All in all, I loved my stay and definitely looking forward to a return visit."

  • Clean Cozy and Colorful

"My wife and I spent a week in this lovely house and we were more than pleased. The onsite managers, Greg and Arlene, were excellent. Indeed, they went beyond the call to make sure all our needs were met. The owner, Bob , was quick to answer all our questions and provided more than enough information to get us started on one of the best trips we ever had. The house itself was clean, well designed, and comfortable. The kitchen allowed us an opportunity to prepare our own meals which we did 95% of the time. The air conditioning was very functional. There is absolutely no need to leave it on when you go about your daily exploring as it takes less than 15 min to cool the house down. This is a great location for exploring the surrounding area. The local beach is simply beautiful and we made a point to start each morning with a beach walk and close each evening with a sunset stroll. The midday temperatures were a bit too high for us but that isn't to say the "sun catchers" wouldn't enjoy them. The house is located in an enclosed community with a professional ,friendly, security guard. The onsite swimming pool was an added bonus which we used "every" day. Nestled among the flowering shrubs with birds chirping from every corner leaves one pondering " Is there really snow elsewhere, Oh my , what a pity !!!" Hiking from this location proved ideal and we noted the more research one does the better chances you have of finding trails that suites your taste. Personally, I found Manuel Antonio too crowded and expensive although my wife liked it. On the other hand exploring the Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Reserve was an absolute treat. You won't go wrong if you take an afternoon to explore the nearby town of Parrita, a great place to people watch and experience everyday life in a Tico town. Jaco is also worth exploring as we found the people both friendly and helpful. One chap spent 20 min assisting me with obtaining a phone card and refused a tip for his efforts. The drive along the coastal road is beautiful, and full of wonderful images ie A mother and son sharing a laugh from a vintage bicycle with a basket full of groceries!! In summary I have no reservations recommending this lovely home. If your looking for a clean, well situated, safe vacation spot, look no further. You are in good hands."

  • Magical spot for a family retreat.

"We had a wonderful time at Casa Tucana. We were a group of 5 adults and two toddlers. Arriving past midnight, we were greeted by a cheery Chloe who gave us a quick welcome and house set-up. The house is clean, comfortable and breezy, bright, beautifully furnished with spacious, private rooms and all the ammneties you need. Beautiful salt water pool which the kids enjoyed for endless hours. There were 3 separate socializing areas – the outdoor lounge, which is shaded and private with a well -kept garden of palms and other local fauna. A small deck: perfect for evening drinks and an outdoor area on the roof with a nice view over the surrounding jungle/fields. We saw monkeys and geckos and frogs and the odd cow in a nearby paddock. Were pleasantly surprised by how bug free the property was. The proximity to the beach was just right– a 15 minute walk or 2 min drive. In the rustic village of Esterillos Oeste there was a grocery store with everything. The village is a true local spot, not at all touristy. Though you definitely need a car to fully enjoy the area between Jaco and Manuel Antonio. The house was the perfect respite for naps and quiet relaxing during the midday heat and we organized our activities for the mornings and late afternoons. We found Bejuco a magic spot – nice wide beach and lots of local families. Chloe and Dan were very helpful – arranging car rental through Zuma (who conveniently included a driver to and from the airport) organized local catering for a birthday meal for one in our party, setting us up with the best guide for our tour of Manuel Antonio and zip-lining at the excellent nearby Ocean Ranch. I might add that they accommodated us within a week of having their 3rd child – and made themselves available for whatever we needed, which was an impressive feat in itself. Overall, we adored Costa Rica and were very comfortable at Casa Tucana where thoughts of our stressful loves back home melted away. Would highly recommend it for a relaxed family retreat. Thank You so much Chloe and Dan!"
