  • Lovely Condo with Beautiful View

"We stayed a week mid-February. If you want a condo on Jaco, this is a very good choice. The condo was very clean and the beds comfortable. We could go to bed early and never were disturbed by noise. The view from the main area beautiful and the location on the beach very nice as it is not crowed at all. Diamente Del Sol is on the beach in downtown Jaco, so there is no real need for a car for shopping and going out to eat. We rented a car in San Jose as we knew we wanted to drive to Quepos and Playa Herredura for fishing etc. If we had it to do over we would have taken the shuttle from the airport and rented a car in Jaco as needed. Jaco is not very large, consisting of a main street and a block or 2 up or down from the main street. The Diamente Del Sol is about midway on the beach, a bit to the north. The south part of the beach is the best swimming, but is also the older part of town (with an area for sale, building torn down but graffiti wall fence) and more locals and surfers come to the beach and park their cars on the beach as the rip tide is less so swimming a surfing is better (All beaches are public in Costa Rica.) We thought it nicer to be north. The pool and first floor is constructed so it is several feet above the beach level. This is very nice as when there is a car on the beach, one‘s view from the pool is mostly over the car and looking at the remainder of the beach, the palms and the ocean. Diamente Del Sol is made up of 2 towers. The 2 bedroom units are all the center unit with a 3 bedroom unit on either side. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo on the 3rd floor. The view was lovely with the beach, palms and ocean. I agree with other reviewers if you have a 3 bedroom unit, you want to be at least on the 4th or 5th floor so you can see thru the thick palms, vegetation or buildings on the sides. The 3 bedroom units also have side views. The view from the back is not as appealing as the beach. One downside is the 2 bedroom units have both bedrooms at the back which face into the open hallway. One can see thru the open air hallway to the back of the condo, but if either neighbor walked out of their condo they could see into the bedroom…so one keeps the drapes closed. Note, not a big deal but nice to know, the condo comes with bare minimum supplies.. one hotel size soap in the 3 bathrooms,1 hotel size shampoo in 2 bathrooms, one dishwasher soap pellet, 2 kitchen trash bags, one sponge and surprisingly an ample supply of hand dishwashing"

  • A little slice of heaven

"Our stay at RocaMar Villas was one of the standout pleasures of our life. Situated in a small (7 units) gated compound, a very short walk to the beach and surf, this place is actively maintained, and very comfortable. As with any tropical housing, there are the routine issues to contend with (anything allowed to be hung and wet will develop mildew quickly, pay attention to the degree of cleanliness and the closure of all doors/windows to deny unwonted insect visitors, and geckos) any location this close to the equator. The nearby SuperSol mini-mart was able to fulfill most of our needs, though the drive to Jaco ($30USD roundtrip) every few weeks is likely needed. In addition there is a "good humor man," in addition to a man hawking eggs from his truck, and others similarly passing by, just outside the compound, selling fruits, vegetables, ceviche, and breads. The many hours we spent in the chaises under the umbrellas, dunking in the cooler (relatively) water swimming of the swimming pool is a delight. This quiet, private, serene facility is ideal for us with lots of opportunity to read, lounge, walk the beach, body surf, and generally unplug (though there is wi-fi and US TV available, if that's what you want) and unwind. Caveat: If you're looking for glitz, throbbing night life, para-sailing, or any of that sort of activity, they are available a short drive distant, but not locally. There are a few small-ish restaurants nearby (walking distance), and we had a LP gas fired two burner stove on our rooftop rancho, plus a charcoal grill. Speaking of the rancho - this too was a source of great serenity. We started off almost all our days drinking our morning coffees and watching the surfers, the natural beauty, of the view, the pace, the surrounding vegetation (almond trees, mango trees, and more). From our unit it was only a 20 minute beach walk to opportunities to see the monkeys and sloths indigenous to the area. As we said to each other many, many a morning: Thank you, God, for yet another day in paradise! There is a caretaker/maintenance person/font of wisdom and connections with the local area, general go-to person, living on site. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of 5 stars is that though part of the charm of the place is the seclusion, the isolation, they can be downsides as well. None-the-less, I give a hearty endorsement to RocaMar Villas for a once in a lifetime experience, and as proof, we are already making plans to return soon."

  • Awesome Place, Great Views

"This villa was an awesome place to stay in Manuel Antonio. It is centrally located and the views are fabulous. We stayed here for my 50th birthday, and I needed a place with at least 10 rooms. This villa was perfect for the occasion. All rooms have king-size beds and almost every room has its own bathroom. There is a kitchen for the main house and separate kitchens for the 3 two bedroom apartments below the main house. There is one room on the main level which worked out perfectly for my mother who has some difficulties with stairs. With a total of 17 people, everyone was extremely comfortable and had plenty of space. The villa sits on top of a hill near the Hotel Mariposa. There are amazing views of Manuel Antonio National Park and the ocean from every floor. There is a large outdoor table area for dining which we used every day. There is a nice pool for when we did not want to walk down to the ocean, which was a 20 minute walk (or 5 minutes by taxi). We were also visited almost daily by the monkeys. Laurent, the owner, was incredibly helpful. He arranged transport from San Jose for a number of my guests. He also helped to set up the activities we participated in (Catamaran Cruise, Zip-Lining, Mangrove Tour). Finally, he helped us order groceries for delivery from the local supermarket. Laurent was always around to help, but at the same time, he gave us our privacy and was never intrusive. All in all, I would highly recommend this villa, especially for those with a large group. We had a fantastic week in Manuel Antonio and this villa was central to our experience."
