  • Awesome Family Vacation

"We spent 8 nights at this wonderful tropical paradise. The condo grounds are well kept and the Property Manager Christian was very helpful in assisting us with the many activities we did during our stay there. I highly recommend this location as it is close to downtown as well as the beach and the rain forest is very close by."

  • Great Place, Great Location

"Thank you Megan for sharing your house and making our vacation so special. The listing and picture were very accurate and the property was clean and well maintained. The property is in a gated comunity and I felt very safe at all times. The neighbors are great and we enjoyed visiting with them in the pool. We love the little beach bar Clarita's, less than a block from the house. Have Megan arrange for a drive for $110 one way from San Jose. We had schedule for a rental car from San Jose to Jaco and much to our surprise, reserving doesnt mean much to most rental agencies. There are rental care agencies in Jaco. So many tell you to shop for groceries in San Jose, but not necessary. There is a large grocery store in Jaco with reasonable prices, I would highly recommend using Megan for setting up your tours, rental cars and your ride from San Jose. She has great connections with the community and was able to book things for us that were not available anywhere else. For things to do: I would recommend off shore fishing. The company we used was Dreamworks with Captain Tom. It was a fishing trip of a lifetime. Me and my husband caught 17 sail fish and one Mahi-Mahi in one day. Captain Tom and his two mates worked very hard to make our day special and they know the waters well. The beach bar cooked our fish for $8.00 per plate with side dishes. It was super yummy! I would also recommend Manuel Antonio, but hire a local guide. Well worth the money."

  • Best big family vacation place ever.

"My wife & I took our children and grandchildren to Jaco and stayed in this villa which is oceanfront. The villa came with a young couple who waited on us. They made beds, did laundry, generally kept the place picked up, cleaned the pool. The husband arranged a charter fishing boat, horse back ride (the guides and horses came to our back door), set up surfing lessons for everyone in our group- again at our back door. The ocean was perfect for us beginners. He also set up a zipline tour. For a little extra the owner lined up a chef and assistant who did all the grocery shopping, cooking, appetizers, drinks, etc. He would do anything you ask. Ask the owner for Jose, the chef. You will be glad you did. We loved the place and hopefully will be back one day."

  • Week stay in Jaco during Green season

"My wife and I with our 2 friends try to go to the Caribbean every year. This year we decided to try something different and picked Costa Rica on the Pacific side. I am usually reluctant to go to a place where we have no reccomendations from friends, but we decided to give it a try. The condo was large, clean, Well furnished and was facing the water. The management staff was attentive to all our needs as well as arranging for our airport transportation and excursions. The town of Jaco was one block away and all the people were friendly and helpful. Lots of choices to eat and easy to meld into the culture. If we go back to Jaco we would stay at the same complex again."

Jaco Travel Tips

Jaco Beach Rentals in a Sleepy Beach Town

Jaco was once the archetypal beach town where you would find surfers lining the waves, others sleeping on the beach, and more walking around shirtless in just board shorts. Once word got out about hidden area and the surfing to be found there, Jaco Beach rentals became premiere destinations. Surfers from all over the world spend weeks at Jaco resorts to ride the high waves.

Vacations in Costa Rica at Jaco Beach are usually in Puntarenas Province on the Pacific Coast. Jaco is in central Costa Rica less than two hours from San Jose.

Jaco Resorts for International Surfing

Surfing is what draws most tourists to Jaco resorts, yet the town does not lack fun. There are several bars, restaurants, and places to visit but on the whole, vacations in Costa Rica to Jaco are all about the surfing. The waves are high and unyielding which means swimming is dangerous and riptides frequent the waters. However, for those who do not surf, Jaco beach rentals can still be great places to visit.

Vacations in Costa Rica at Playa Hermosa and Herradura

It is true that Jaco's water is less than perfect for swimming but Playa Hermosa and Playa Herradura which are within six miles of Jaco are great for swimming. Playa Hermosa has an international surf convention each year and Playa Herradura is another top surf beach. Both the beaches are great for sunbathing, horseback riding, and enjoying the view of the Pacific Ocean. Vacations in Costa Rica can also be about eco-tourism with canopy tours, jungle trips, and hiking if you want to get away from the beach for a while.

When to Visit Jaco Beach Rentals

The best time to visit Jaco beach rentals is from January to April. These months offer the driest season. September and October are the rainiest months which you might want to avoid if you really want to see and experience Costa Rica. At other times of the year, the rainfall can come and go so you can expect to find Jaco resorts somewhat busy.
