"We stayed at Casa Teka for 5 days and we had a truly amazing experience. This beautiful home is close enough to town, but far away from the traffic. The only sounds you can hear is the ocean waves crashing on a tranquil beach only steps away and the monkeys and exotic birds playing in the mango trees throughout the lush green garden setting surrounding the property. The large open outdoor deck lets you be one with nature as you sit within the tree canopy. The local market one block away has all the food essentials and supplies that you would need and Mary's restaurant (walking distance) is a great place to treat yourself to dinner. I would recommend Casa Teka for a family vacation, romantic getaway, surf/fishing trip, or anyone who wants to have an authentic Costa Rican experience. The manager Pia took great care of us and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Pura vida."

  • Loved It

"We spent most mornings, early, walking and hiking the area, turning right or left on all of the paths. The walks were roughly 1.5 hours and saw an abundance of wildlife(anteater, snakes, parrots, toucans, monkeys, iguanas, etc.) It was a nice way to start the day and get moving. This was our eighth trip to Costa Rica and second time at this house and our goal was hiking, fishing and exploring the back roads and restaurants. You need to drive to Mal Pais to organize your fishing with the locals. We caught a sailfish, barracuda, tuna, amber jack, spanish mackeral etc. Great eating. Bring it home or get a restaurant in Santa Theresa to cook you lunch with your fish. A really neat drive is turn right out the house and go to Coyote. You must drive through three rivers(shallow). The drive is about 50 minutes and when you come to the main intersection in Coyote go straight through and a restaurant on your left is a must(Best coconut shrimp ever) went here three times for lunch. The area is beautiful and out of the way which we liked. Bill and Frank were great. A must for Costa Rica."

"A tranquil retreat away from the beach but with brilliant pool overlooking the sea. Sit & watch the sunset plus the stars in the evenings. Plenty of birds & monkeys to observe nearby during the day. Excellent support from the staff, Soyaya gave good advice, the cleaner Elena was thorough & discreet & the on site caretaker gave the pool daily attention & was very pleasant. We truly enjoyed our 3 weeks here."

"I have stayed in this house three times over 6 years. The first, my now husband and I fell in love. The second, we brought all our loved ones and had our wedding. And we just returned to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. To say that it's special to us, is an understatement. But for the sake of this review, I will try and leave my obsession for this home aside. THE HOUSE: The house itself rests right on the beach. You will spend most of your time in the wade-in pool and you can hear the waves while you swim. The pool is the center of the home (you can see in the pictures)--each morning you will open the huge glass and wooden doors to the outside, connecting indoors directly to the outdoors. The grounds are landscaped impeccably. Inside, each of the suites could be their own stand alone living quarters. You have complete privacy, they're hugely spacious and they are romantic and grand. Each opens to the outside. And most importantly, they are all air conditioned (it's hot in Costa Rica!). When we didn't enjoy dinners outside, we would take advantage of the giant dining area and create massive spreads for everyone. After dinner, we would have cocktails at the tiki bar in the house and typically head back to the pool. The house is so customized. The wood comes from the owners teak farm and every detail has been taken into consideration--it just feels so special. LOCATION: Nothing is more than a 5 minute quad ride away, but you feel like you're totally secluded. You can go ziplining right up the road. We always go to the fishing boats to get fresh fish. And we love to stop in and visit friends at the Surf Camp--each time, our guests have taken surf lessons and loved it. You can get a board for the day for (something like) $10. You have tons of restaurants around you! DINING: Mal Pais has amazing food. Our favorite is Mary's. We literally ordered every item on their special board and weren't disappointed with a single dish. The sushi place is great, but the service is pretty lax. There's a new bakery that has amazing coffee and delicious breakfast. There's so many great restaurants on the beach--really you can slip into most places and just have aps and cocktails for very little money and just enjoy the beauty of this place. TIP: You have to have a quad/ 4-wheeler. They're not cheap and you don't want to run out of gas."
