"I stayed at this lodge for a very short period, but I did not want to leave. It is the most peaceful place to stay at. Granted that I was there during the low season, but I also know that Mal Pais doesn't get flooded with tourists as other towns in the area, so it's pretty quiet with rock-free beaches. The lodge itself is very clean and the open concept is just a unique and beautiful feature of it, making it aesthetically very pleasing and enjoyable. It has all the necessary furniture, appliances (even a blender)...the owners are very friendly and warm people!"Guest: Ma Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 31, 2014View listing
"My wife and I spent a week at this beautiful villa with another couple to experience a less touristy area of Costa Rica. The house is great and everyone associated with it were very friendly and helpful. Bill turned us on to a couple of sights that we never would have known existed without him. While staying there we hiked, ziplined in Montezuma, Snorkeled at Tortuga Island, spent a day on the beach watching surfers and working on our tans. We saw monkeys every day either at the house or while we were out. we saw dolphins, turtles, anteaters, iguanas and more varieties of birds than I can name. If you ask if we enjoyed it......I have 6132 pictures that say yes we did."Guest: John B. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 24, 2014View listing
"Five of us just returned from a week at Villa Montemeru. We couldn't have been happier with the house, which is even more beautiful than the pictures and description suggested. The layout and decor are thoughtful and stylish, the indoor/outdoor kitchen and living room are gorgeous, the beds are comfortable, and the views of the ocean, jungle, and sunsets to die for. Mariella was an excellent host, welcoming but discreet, and gave us excellent suggestions for local beaches, food shopping, and restaurants. Although we ate out a few times in Santa Teresa and Malpais, we really preferred long, relaxed evenings in the house, with Ray and Marlie, the two adorable ridgebacks. The region is beautiful, though the roads are sometimes rough and dusty. The house is situated high above the road and is therefore secluded and quiet, except for the wonderful noises of the jungle. One word of caution - the jungle and its wildlife are all around and very present, and if that doesn't interest you, this might not be the best area to stay in. All in all, the location, the house, and the welcome make Villa Montemeru paradise. I hope we'll be back soon."Guest: GL Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 5, 2014View listing
"We traveled to 4 other places in Costa Rica but this was our favorite by far. We got a little lost on the way and our car wasn't the best for travel on dirt roads down the Nicoya peninsula but when we finally arrived we were very pleased. Manzanillo is a wonderful, serene beach town (if you could even call it that, only one corner restaurant/convenience store) and Trey's property is situated on a hill above, with great views of the sunset, monkeys and lizards frequenting the area, a very short ride or walk to the beach. We rented an ATV to get to and from the surrounding towns and beaches. Overall a great time. Can't wait to visit again!"Guest: Rachel T.
