  • Living with Nature in the Rain Forest

"Our family stayed at Brooks Hacienda for a week over the 2014 Thanksgiving holiday and had a wonderful trip. As other reviews have stated, this is a great location to see the rainforest and wildlife right from the deck and poolside. During our stay we were able to see and hear all types of monkeys and birds with a beautiful backdrop of the rainforest preserve in the backyard. We prefer to stay in a quieter, more relaxing place away from the crowded resorts, so we found Brooks Hacienda to be the perfect spot. The pool is great and all the features of the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroooms are very nice. The house was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Laundry facilities are also available. This is the first time that we have rented a place where the owners were so close by, and we found it very helpful to have Randy and Kate available for questions when we needed it. Kate hooked us up with a great guide for a day trip to the Manuel Antonio Preserve and a jungle canopy tour that included ziplining, swimming at a waterfall, horseback riding in the mountains, and a Costa Rican style lunch at Santa Juana, a small village high in the mountains. This was the best day trip and tour experience that our family has ever been on. Both tours picked us up and dropped us off at the house, so it was very convenient. Kate and Randy really went out of their way to make sure our family had a great experience and had everything we need. Kate even picked up some groceries ahead of time for us since we were arriving late. She also had great recommendations for local restaurants and we found Cafe Milagro, Emilio's Cafe, El Lagarto, and El Wagon Pizza to be very good. We would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle as the road is a little rough to get to the house, and it is nice to have if you want to explore any beaches or other activities that are off the main roads. This is a quiet neighborhood, so if you are looking for a party spot, this probably would not be the best fit. We can't wait to come back....Pura Vida!"

  • An Incredible Family Vacation

"An incredible family vacation! All staff were exceptional. We especially miss our concierge, Chris! Everyone was incredible with our children which meant a lot. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance, private beach with towels and boogie boards at our disposal. Nido de Gansos house was amazing and was perfect for 2 families with 4 kids plus plenty more room. We will definitely be back!"

  • Imagine Paradise

"Imagine paradise, now imagine your home in Paradise; Casa Bella Vista! The Villa is nestled in the jungle high above the rest of Manuel Antonio, but within walking distance to restaurants, stores and an ATM. A bit of a trek to the beach but doable or a quick taxi ride with a great payoff, awesome beaches and fun restaurants with ceviche and plenty of beer or the local drink cacique. When we got to CBV we were greeted by the wonderful smile and warm welcome of our gracious and generous host/concierge Sani Teni. We had arranged all our tours and activities in advance with Sani. All our activities were 1st class and made our stay effortless and exceptional. CBV includes, Sani, our guard Coco who alerted us to all visiting and resident animals. 3 resident sloths, mamma, baby and male, toucans, other birds, troops of Spider, White Face and Howler monkeys, lizards and frogs to name the coolest animals that came by. We had maid service daily, laundry service and a chef by request. We had an amazing dinner elegantly prepared and served on our beautiful patio overlooking the infinity pool that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The picture cannot do justice to the serene and exquisite view. Our group of 8 recommend the Villa and the immense expertise of Sani."

  • You Will Not Find Anywhere Better Than This!

""Wow!" is the first word we exclaimed when we arrived at this gorgeous property. "Perfect" and "Paradise" are two other words that came to mind. You will not find a better location in CR, I'm positive of it. Ken and Kim were fantastic hosts, House Manager Jose took excellent care of our every whim, and the cleaning staff kept the place spotless. The viewing deck is the only place you need to be the whole trip, because you don't want to miss seeing any of the wildlife or hearing the ocean. The splash pool was shaded, cool and beautiful. We only used the ping pong and pool tables once but what a great way to enjoy happy hour! This perfect, private sanctuary has everything you could dream of for a life-changing vacation experience. If you need to supplement your experience, Kim offered a fantastic sunset horseback ride for my daughter that she thoroughly enjoyed, and Ken set up a zipline for our whole family that was top notch - best and safest I've ever done anywhere. And as everyone else has posted, take Jose's Mangrove tour for sure! The beach is semi-private, and it is a hike to get down there, but just take some drinks and snacks and LOTS of sunscreen during low tide and enjoy the day down there. (then just have a nap after you survive the hike back up! it's not really dangerous, just tiring in the heat). Tips: Bring a book - there's nothing better than listening to the jungle and reading in a hammock. If you have a large family, bring games for the evening. You won't want to be watching TV, trust me! Get your coffee at Café Milagro right at the top of the hill - they have the best. We also thoroughly enjoyed a dinner there. Buy bananas/fruit - you'll want snacks for "jungle visitors" Bring several good cameras - trust me, everyone will be grabbing for a camera when the animals come out to play! Have Jose find you some fish - he has friends who can provide you with anything fresher than the grocery store will have. Also the ceviche is a great snack, as him about it. Pura Vida!!!"
