  • Wonderful stay in fantastic home!

"We had a wonderful stay at Casa Zabala a couple of weeks ago. The home was spacious and charming. We appreciated the warm hospitality of Alex, the brother-in-law of Ken who was away the weekend we were there. The plantation is so peaceful and tropical- mangoes, bananas, mandarin oranges abound and renters are welcome to pick and enjoy. Our 3 young kids fell in love with Estella, the farm's German Shepard! She slept on the porch all night. No satellite tv, but we brought a kindle and laptop and watched netflix with no trouble. Our only regret was not bringing along more family/friends to enjoy this home! So much space went unused! I could have laid on the hammock on the upstairs porch for several days...yet we had only booked one night and were on our way to the beach after seeing the cloud forest. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

  • Best Host in Costa Rica

"We were in Costa Rica for 3 weeks and used VRBO for all our stays. We stayed in Rainbow a House for 5 days. Richard was an awesome host, generous with his time and advice. He spent half a day with us hiking in the rainforest and on another day took us for a tour of his large property. He loaned me a sturdy raincoat and even did our laundry! He was great with my boys (ages 11 and 12) and told them stories from the wild. The boys loved the rambling house with it's many beds and used the pingpong table a lot. A must see is the nearby orchid garden and wood shop at Rosewood Souvenirs. We didn't rent a car and were not at all bothered by that. Taxis are affordable and easy to reach. The view from the big windows is spectacular and all you have to do is look outside to see colorful birds and wildlife. If we go back to Monteverde, we will surely stay there again."

  • Wonderful views, wonderful people, and a price to fit anyone's budget!

"When I started planning my trip to Monteverde, I was very discouraged because, as a recent college grad, I was on a tight budget. Every hotel I looked at online wanted much more money than I could have possibly paid. I was getting very discouraged because I wanted the experience of being in a cloud forest and not in a hostel. Then I stumbled upon Casa Cielo and it turned out to be everything I could ever dream of. We were greeted by Veronica and her friend who had lived there for 3 years. They were very welcoming and had snacks for us when we arrived (homemade tortillas, queso fresco, and plantains, yum!) and their families were out on the farm collecting fruit for us! After they left, my boyfriend and I were perfectly happy to just sit and enjoy the AMAZING view (and I can't stress that word enough, it truly was incredible). We enjoyed the organic, home grown coffee they provided us as we sat on the second floor balcony watching the sunset. The town is very close and only took us about 5-10 minutes to reach. It has everything you could need or want! The people there are very friendly and have no problem helping you if you need it. We ate at Taco Taco for most of our meals, because it was just that good! The cabin itself is adorable and cozy. We did have a few, large friends (of the 8 legged variety) greet us after the sun went down but we left them to do their job in keeping the rest of the buggies out! We also made friends with the neighborhood doggies and picked up a bag of food for them while we were in town. They loved it and would greet us every time we went out the door! Unfortunately, we were unable to see the toucans but we did see a variety of beautiful and interesting birds (and some even came to wake us up in the morning by knocking on our window!). All in all, Casa Cielo is just spectacular. The views are gorgeous, whether sun up or down, and the cabin makes you feel right at home. I really wish we had planned to stay more than two nights. Thank you to Veronica and family for sharing your piece of paradise! It was everything we hoped for and more."

  • Yerba Buena is a destination in itself!

"We were fortunate to meet owners Regina and Saul upon our check-in at this amazing property. They made us feel completely welcome and at home and our children were immediately drawn to them and their dog, Echo, as well as Max, the caretaker's dog. We had visited Monteverde before and knew of its amazing wildlife and serenity, but had a completely different experience this time because of Yerba Buena. The grounds are beautiful and have little trails and secret spots all around. When we sought a break from our sight-seeing, our kids loved running around the property. It is close to Stella's Bakery, Curi-Cancha Reserve, the cheese factory and delicious Tramonti Restaurant. Regina recommended an amazing guide, who took us on a day hike and a night hike. On our guided hikes saw many species of birds (including tucans and mot mots), as well as a sloth, porcupine, snakes, kinkajou, walking sticks, and much more. We drank our morning coffee and birded from the large picture window of cabin #1. The cabin's kitchen was the best equipped of any of our accommodations on our Costa Rica trip. We made breakfast every morning and two dinners in our four-night stay. Hernan is the on-site caretaker - he is so helpful and sweet. He even made walking sticks for our two kids! I am sure we will return to Monteverde one day, in which case we will surely hope to stay at this amazing home again."

Monteverde Travel Tips

Monteverde Vacation Rentals in Lush Rainforests

Monteverde travel is not complete without exploring the lush vegetation of Monteverde cloud forest. Walk over the canopy of the rain forest on a Sky Trek tour. Check out the gardens, exhibits, suspension bridges and canopy tours across the 850 acres of Selvatura Park. Learn how coffee is made from start to finish on a coffee farm tour. Take a horseback riding tour or ride a zip line through the luscious foliage of the cloud forest canopies.

Monteverde Travel is an Eco-Tourist's Dream

The cloud forest surrounding Monteverde vacation rentals is not only a great place to have fun exploring, but offers so much to see. Known as one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges in the New World Tropics, you'll never be able to keep track of all the 2,500 species of plants, 100 species of mammals, 400 bird species and thousands of insects you see.

Monteverde Travel Near an Active Volcano

The appeal of staying in Monteverde vacation rentals doesn't stop at the cloud forest. While there is no direct route, Monteverde is three hours from the Arenal Volcano if you travel by taxi and boat. Arenal, a continually active volcano, is one of the most sought after attractions in Costa Rica. You can also make part of the trip by horseback or take a 4x4 across dirt roads. Regardless of your route, the view will be breathtaking.

Puntarenas Beach Homes for Relaxation and Fun

Monteverde is just one of the many beautiful places in the Puntarenas region of Costa Rica. Consider splitting your vacation with a few days in the gorgeous cloud forest and the rest in Puntarenas beach homes along the coast. Soak up the sun, watch the sun set along the Pacific or explore sea life by snorkeling. Puntarenas and Monteverde can provide you with the tropical vacation of your dreams.
