  • Paradise in the sky!

"We spent 3 days in Monterverde and stayed at Casa Cielo with our 3 kids. What an awesome cabin! The kids called it the "triangle house". The cabin is fully equipped, very confortable and a VIP spot for the most stunning sunsets! Special thanks to Veronica for that most delicious snack upon our arrival! So appreciated! Don't miss that horseback riding activity with a dip in private hot pools at Finca Lindora 2 minutes from the cabin. We will keep such great memories of our trip in Monteverde and casa cielo."

  • Perfect Spot

"We have been to Costa Rica with our kids 3 times prior to this trip but had never made it to the cloud forest. We decided this time we needed to check this off our bucket list. This rental was PERFECTION! The house was a great bargain. The view from inside is amazing and the property is well situated to get to the town of Santa Elena and a number of activities by foot. It is also a short drive from Selvatura and Curi-Cancha. The drive up to Santa Elena, like all driving in Costa Rica, is pretty intense, but is was so worth it! Definitely recommend 4WD and a manual transmission! Richard gave us without question the best, most detailed, and most accurate directions to the house, all our activities and back to the airport that I have ever received on a trip. He also had wonderful suggestions for activities and dining. He very thoughtfully provided us with tons of extra blankets. When we arrived the temperature had dropped quite a bit and we were traveling with our 4 and 6 year old daughters. We were perfectly comfortable thanks to his thoughtfulness. I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Rosewood Shop and Orchid gardens. The owners there are incredibly kind. Also the Santa Maria Night Tour and Selvatura bridges were definitely worth seeing."

  • Very unique house

"There's nothing like the Treetop House anywhere else. One of our kids compared it to Alice in Wonderland's house - another thought we were living like Curious George. They especially loved loved loved swinging in the hammocks! It's not the most comfortable place, however. The house could be upgraded very easily by just the addition of better beds (the beds are just thin mattresses on top of bedframes made with 2x4s - there are no boxsprings), mattress pads (there are none), and better linens / blankets. We found dead bugs and body hair on the sheets making me wonder if they're washed after each visitor. Our 7-year-old son was bitten by a scorpion one night that was hiding in the bedsheets. I don't blame the house for this - after all, we were staying in the jungle and these things do happen. It's also an incredibly noisy house - if anybody upstairs (and there are four floors so there's always someone "upstairs") walks around you can hear absolutely every creak and step. That being said, there is incredible charm here just because of its uniqueness. Also, Sabine is such a gracious host - she was so helpful booking our adventure tour at Selvatura and a night hike (both highly recommended!). And we loved being able to hear the howler monkeys in the morning."

  • Beautiful House, Santa Elena Monteverde

"We were so glad to arrive and find this house to be everything it claimed to be. The property is in a good location, maybe a bit too far to walk to town for some, but doable if you like walking. It's a short drive though and easy to get back and forth. The house is new, modern, clean and well equipped. The owners are very good communicators as is their support family that lives in an adjoining part of the house. We had wonderful surprises like a plate of papaya picked right from a tree by our door and a delicious desert delivered as a surprise treat one night. You won't be disappointed with the property itself. As far as others who have mentioned the winds and in particular this location we are very sorry to have not taken them seriously enough. Yeah, a little wind, big deal. Well it's a big deal. It would be a great idea for the owners to put a kilo of ear plugs in a drawer for those who don't come prepared because the noise from the wind, it does howl, and the rattling of the windows and sliding doors makes it almost impossible to sleep. There are more sheltered places around Monteverde where the wind is not so noticeable, but this location is in an open field with no protection. Take heed and bring something to stuff in your ears. We took tour pamphlets and jammed them into the sliding door frame to reduce the rattling of a bedroom on the downward side of the wind direction which helped a little bit but nothing can reduce the howl of the wind streaming across the house. Maybe we were unlucky with the weather, but we asked and many said this was pretty typical winds for the area. The wind does not let up, and is at its strongest at night so be prepared. Still a wonderful area to visit and we would go back as the house is truly a 5 star, but just a bit more prepared. Good value and caring owners were the key."
