  • Relaxing/Amazing!

"Las Rocas was amazing!! My family stayed for a week...not long enough! Booking was easy and safe. This property is perfectly located. Very secluded, yet close enough to Montezuma and other towns to get supplies, go out to eat/drink, etc. The house was very clean and well stocked with linens, etc. The property manager, Leeanne, was friendly and super helpful. She is very familiar with the roads, local businesses, etc. She was very accessible by phone or/and email and addressed our needs/questions in a very timely manner. We can't wait to return to Las Rocas....next time we will stay longer!!!"

  • Felt like our home away from home

"Our family of 5 recently stayed here for a week and didn't want to leave! I hadn't realised how close to town this place is - it sits literally on the edge of town; and the town, along with Ivan's House, is built right on the beach. The yard is surrounded by trees, gardens or fencing though, so while its not secluded, you have plenty of privacy while at the house. The location was perfect for us and made cooking at the house easy since the local grocery store is just a one minute walk away if anything was needed. Plus we enjoyed hearing the sounds from town and of course the constant sound of the surf. Both downstairs bedrooms have full bathrooms and the loft bedroom has a half bath (no shower). The loft is also the only part of the house with AC. There is an outside sink which was handy for laundering small items and the clothes line in the back made it easy to dry towels and swim suits each day. The outside shower we used daily for washing all the sand out after returning from a swim. We had everything we needed here for an extended stay. Ivan was super to deal with from start to finish - always answered emails promptly and was patient with my many questions. He looked after the arrangements for the taxi-boat ride to get to Montezuma and made good suggestions for places to eat or things to see in the area. We also used his tour company (Zumatours) for a day-trip to Isla Tortuga and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My favorite part of our stay was definitely the mornings - opening up all the shutters, watching the sun come up and enjoying a quiet cup of coffee while the breezes blew in from the ocean...wonderful!"

  • Your own Garden of Eden.

"Casa Joachim is truly a little piece of paradise. We stayed this year again for 3 weeks just like last year and have already booked our stay for next year. The location of the property is amazing. You overlook the ocean and can hear the waves crashing on the beach. The property is surrounded by jungle which gives it total privacy. Lots of wildlife, mainly monkey's pass through the garden. The pool is a nice size and very refreshing. We love the total privacy of Casa Joachim and the peacefulness of the place and consider it a little Garden of Eden. The house is clean and well build. Joachim, the owner, takes great pride in his property and the house, garden and pool are well maintained. Last year, we have a few suggestions for improvement, and all were taken care off. The kitchen is small but functional and has everything you need. We love cooking and so cooked everyday some awesome meals there. You do need a 4x4 to get to the house. Both the manager Leanne and Joachim are very helpful and will make sure you will have a memorable stay. Highly recommended."

  • Peace, Relaxation and Comfort

"We recently returned from a 4 week stay (February 2015) at La Colina de Carolina just outside of Montezuma in Costa Rica. The accommodations were just right for us, 2 retired travellers. The house and grounds were in excellent condition, private and very secure with an onsite caretaker (Bladimir) and nearby property manager (Ginette) available should we need them. The house was comfortable and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The veranda is a highlight; spacious with lots of comfortable seating and a large a dining table where we had all of our meals. It had cool breezes, birds and butterflies visiting the trees and flowering bushes, a great view of the ocean, and no problems with bugs. The weather was perfect every day for four weeks, Montezuma is a small but interesting town with many beautiful beaches, waterfalls, excursions and other attractions available to spend the day and a huge number of dining options ranging from gourmet to typical Costa Rican. The house and property were accessible to the town and surrounding area by walking and public transit (we didn't rent a car). Taxis and shuttle services are also plentiful and reasonably priced. The owner "Carolina" indicated that her goal was that our stay at La Colina would exceed our expectations ... mission accomplished. Prior to our arrival, she and her property manager answered many questions to help us prepare for our first visit to Costa Rica. Many thanks to Carolina, Ginette, and Bladimir for making our first visit to Costa Rica a fantastic experience."
