Alace to hear the jungle sounds and let your senses go free
"The place is much better than pictures show. As we arrived, we were welcomed by Ype, the host who was always very kind and helpful. The house has a big social area downstairs surrounded by a beautiful landscape with well kept colorful gardens. The breeze will always accompany you because the house is located on a hill.
The property is big enough to fulfill everyone's taste. You can rather choose to rest peacefully down a tree to enjoy your favorite book, or just relax to hear the sounds of the jungle while watching the ocean view. If you keep walking down the property, you will find a refreshing pond!
Upstairs are located the rooms. Beds and showers are very confortable.
The kitchen is well-equiped with all you need.
The area offers different options. There are beautiful beaches just 20 minutes away as Montezuma, Cabuya. Don't think twice to go to Playa Grande. It is just 20 - 30 minutes walk through a nice trail from Montezuma. If you drive farther away, for about 40 to 60 minutes, you will reach even more stunning beaches as Santa Teresa, El Carmen, Hermosa. Be patient while driving on the unpaved roads. Don't miss the walk to Cabo Blanco, once you get there after taking the longest trail, your eyes will feat with the most calid and quiet beach.
My family and I spent a great time in the area. It was worthy!"

"We were on our honeymoon and could not have selected a better destination than Casa Joachim and Costa Rica. We found our stay very relaxing with terrific views. Casa Joachim is secluded, very private and secure. The grounds are well cared for and you can tell there is a pride of ownership. Joachim and his property manager Leanne were very accommodating. They shared great tips and advise prior to and during our stay, and were always accessible to answer our questions. You do a need 4X4 to access this property and in general for this part of Costa Rica.
This home is very beautiful and is surrounded by a large deck overlooking fantastic views of the jungle and ocean. The property has lots of fruit trees, flowering trees and plants. Our favorite is a tree that blooms during the evening that gives off the scent of Channel No 5.
There is abundant wildlife at Casa Joachim. We were greeted every day by howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, agoutis and iguanas. There were two troops of monkeys that liked to hang out in the trees surrounding the property that had lots of babies so that was fun to see.
Our daily routine was to get out and enjoy one of the many wonderful activities that Costa Rica offers, e.g., hiking in Cabo Blanco, snorkeling at Tortuga Island, hiking to Cemetery Island, fishing and visiting the surrounding towns and beaches. Afternoons were reserved for coming back home to Casa Joachim and enjoying our beautiful, private pool with a cool refreshment.
One thing that surprised us that is worth mentioning is the great food. The restaurants were high quality, the bakeries and fresh fruit were out of this world.
We can't say enough about our stay at Casa Joachim - highly recommended. We will definitely be back to visit Costa Rica and Casa Joachim."

"The pictures do not do this place justice. It is a beautiful three bedroom home, with two bedrooms having their own bathroom, and another bathroom in the hallway. Yes, it's hot there, but the pool and air-conditioning in the bedrooms is great. Katherine and Jeff are great people and they have a lovely property there. Very helpful with ideas of fresh fish, where to eat, how to get anywhere etc. Jeff did some morning yoga with my husband in their lovely yoga pavilion each day and even lent him a guitar to play. The home is large, the grounds beautiful. The town of Cubuya is a nice laid back fishing village outside Montezuma. My only concern was all the stray dogs in the area, but that is common in Costa Rica and very heart breaking, even though I'm not even a dog lover. However, the property is very private and fenced. Would highly recommend this place. The owners are always there and available but respect your privacy too. Great value to live in your own private home while in a safe and protected property."

"Our family of 5 recently stayed here for a week and didn't want to leave! I hadn't realised how close to town this place is - it sits literally on the edge of town; and the town, along with Ivan's House, is built right on the beach. The yard is surrounded by trees, gardens or fencing though, so while its not secluded, you have plenty of privacy while at the house. The location was perfect for us and made cooking at the house easy since the local grocery store is just a one minute walk away if anything was needed. Plus we enjoyed hearing the sounds from town and of course the constant sound of the surf. Both downstairs bedrooms have full bathrooms and the loft bedroom has a half bath (no shower). The loft is also the only part of the house with AC. There is an outside sink which was handy for laundering small items and the clothes line in the back made it easy to dry towels and swim suits each day. The outside shower we used daily for washing all the sand out after returning from a swim. We had everything we needed here for an extended stay. Ivan was super to deal with from start to finish - always answered emails promptly and was patient with my many questions. He looked after the arrangements for the taxi-boat ride to get to Montezuma and made good suggestions for places to eat or things to see in the area. We also used his tour company (Zumatours) for a day-trip to Isla Tortuga and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My favorite part of our stay was definitely the mornings - opening up all the shutters, watching the sun come up and enjoying a quiet cup of coffee while the breezes blew in from the ocean...wonderful!"
