"We spent several weeks in November at the Cielo Grande with our four year old and really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable, well equipped, and peaceful.
First the location is great - it’s very close to several beaches, each of which have the own personality, and it is also centrally located for longer day trips. If you have a car/4x4 (which it would be hard to do without in this area), this house is a great home base for exploring the greater region. We especially enjoyed both Playa Tortuga (5 minute drive) for beach hiking, seeing scarlet macaws, and exploring, and Playa Ventanas (7 minutes drive) for swimming and relaxing.
The house itself is well designed and has amazing grounds and views. It has an open aesthetic and really the only enclosed rooms are the bedrooms/bathrooms, which are screened in. There are great views both toward the ocean and mountains. It did take us a night or two to get used to the openness of the house, but after we did we really liked it. Bugs and bats are around at night but are not nuisances, were not too numerous in the bedrooms, and not around during the day for the most part. We saw lots of birds, including toucans, parrots, and hummingbirds.
The house and kitchen are well stocked and we did mostly cook for ourselves. There were all the needed kitchen tools, fresh linens, hot water, towels, etc. There are several areas for lounging including a hammock, the entire upstairs patio, and a great little pool - where we spent a lot of time in the afternoons (and which our kid really enjoyed).
Barb, the owner, was super responsive in responding to questions or any communications. The caretaker family was very friendly and and would often offer to gather and open coconuts (which grow on the grounds) so we could have fresh coconut water. While the house is a bit off the beaten path, it doesn’t feel isolated at all.
We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again."
