  • A beautiful retreat in Ojochal

"My husband and I were able to stay at the guesthouse for two weeks in early March. The house was perfect for the two of us. It is very well maintained, clean and furnished very nicely. The outside patio was great for a quiet breakfast, or dinner - or just enjoying the surrounding gardens. The last day of our stay we even saw a troop of howler monkeys travel from tree to tree across the back yard. A dip in the saline pool was a refreshing way to spend some of the hot afternoons. The owners were very helpful since they are quite familiar with the area. The location of the guesthouse is just off the main highway, so you don't have to drive on the "local" roads much at all. Ojochal is only about a 45 minute drive from Sierpe to the south and Quepos to the north - making it an easy drive to so many attractions! It is also a great location with many nearby beaches to explore and gourmet restaurants to enjoy. We really enjoyed our stay - and would love to go back and stay here again in the (near!!) future."

  • Amazing place for our family

"We stayed 4 nights at Casa Pajaro and had an incredible experience with our three young children (7, 4 and 2). The house is gorgeous, spacious enough for a family and beautifully designed - the kitchen and living rooms open up to the outside to give you a truly indoor outdoor feel with wonderful fresh breezes. The pool was awesome and the whole place was very private. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. We had several toucans that visited right off the balcony as well as a family of howler monkeys (along with a baby hanging on it's mother's back). This is the kind of experience you just can't get at a hotel. The dirt road up the mountain was well maintained but I still think a 4 wheel drive is necessary. Also, the owners were wonderful and so incredibly helpful with planning before our trip."

  • More time in Paradise

"This was our second stay at Fiesta Del Rio, and was during the Rainy Season this time. All we can say is that wet or dry, the accommodations are very good, and an exceptional bargain. If going during the Rainy Season, be sure your clothes are "quick-dry" as the sun is only out for a couple of hours each day. We have recommended Fiesta Del Rio to others, and have had great reports."

  • Private Paradise!

"What a beautiful place to call home for nine days! The house has everything you could possibly need to live comfortably and lots of outdoor furniture to enjoy the gorgeous views. The pool is perfect to cool off in and the laundry a nice convenience that not all VRBO's in CR include. We saw toucans, an iguana, squirrel monkeys, gekkos and heard the howler monkeys a few times. Karen has created an information book about restaurants and sites in the area; a great resource. Denise, the property manager was invaluable, going out of her way to make our visit the best it could be making many wonderful suggestions of places to visit and even joined us a few times. David, who does the pool cleaning and other general maintenance was also very helpful and kind each time we saw him and talked with us about life in CR. We saw David more frequently than most guests likely would as there was some issues with a toilet but he was very quick to come up with a solution. As others have said, a 4x4 is recommended but the drive would not deter us from returning. The VRBO is very central to many surrounding sites: -Manuel Antonio park is just over 1hrs away, where we saw a great array of animals. -The Boruca Village, where they make wood masks and weave fabric the way their ancestors did, is about an hour from the VRBO and was a quick half-day trip. There is also a beautiful waterfall in Boruca (ask at the museum for directions to the Cascada). -Cascada El Pavon (waterfall) is very close to the VRBO and once you park it’s only a two minute walk to the fall so well worth a visit. There is a nice swimming hole there. -The Corcovado and Mangrove tour with Perla del Sur tour company is a must do! You take a beautiful boat ride to Corcovado where you will see tons of wildlife, they supply lunch and then you go to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim and then boat through mangroves. Take hiking boots for the trails. -Playa Ventana beach is nearby and is famous for its many caves. -Playa Dominical is also fairly close and is a really cute Rastafarian/hippy village. -Playa Ballena Beach Club was one of our favourite stops. It's close to the VRBO and is owned by a nice couple. They have food and good drinks. They are also on a beautiful sandy beach that we greatly enjoyed. We also visited many fabulous nearby restaurants; Mama y Papás, Citrus, La Fagota, and Azul. We would happily recommend this VRBO and will return one day (hopefully sooner than later!)"
