  • Great hideaway for those seeking wildlife!

"My wife and I had a great time staying in Playa lapa. Every morning we were woken up by the scarlet macaws, monkeys would visit the mango tree that hangs over the house and it is well situated for hikes in Corcovado. As long as your are prepared with a cooler and all the necessities that Helene tells you to bring you will have a great stay."

  • Absolutely incredible!

"We stayed here for 4 nights in March and it was wonderful. The house is beautiful and it is set up to take full advantage of the breeze and the view. The weather was extremely hot during our stay -36 degrees Celsius - but we were able to sleep comfortably with the provided fans. I'm a bird lover and it was sooo incredible to watch scarlet macaws in the trees just outside the bedroom windows. The property has all kinds of fruit trees and wildlife. We cooked for ourselves as we had been eating almost exclusively in restaurants during the earlier part of our vacation. The kitchen is very well-equipped and the fridge can hold a huge amount of food. The area is really incredible and we enjoyed exploring on foot and by car. The owners (Phoebe specifically) were very prompt in all communications and provided very helpful information. The caretaker family were always available and accommodating. We did not require help cooking meals but we did ask them to do some laundry for us and to help to arrange a dolphin-watching tour. They were always available to answer questions but were not at all intrusive. We highly recommend staying here. We hope to return ourselves to the Osa and to Quinta Sonada."

  • Rejuvenating stay in paradise

"We stayed in Pelican house for 6 nights and could have stayed 6 weeks! The location is beyond spectacular. It feels remote and yet it is close enough to town to get groceries and have dinner (ceviche at Marisqueria Corcovado was a favorite!). The beach is almost always deserted, the water 80+ degrees and the sand incredibly soft. The house is well appointed with a comfortable bed, amazing outdoor shower, and well stocked kitchen. Rafa, the property caretaker, made our stay particularly unique and memorable. He, his wife and daughter, are incredibly warm and welcoming. We enjoyed so many laughs with him and he is truly knowledgeable about the local area, plants and wildlife. If you speak Spanish and want to go for a local hike, Rafa is an amazing guide. He has an uncanny ability to spot birds, monkeys and other critters way up in the canopy. Although he will decline any money, add it to his tip at the end as he is not otherwise paid for being a guide for the guests--we were happy to be able to support a local family, especially one we had gotten to know so well! If you can pry yourself from the hammock, explore the local dirt roads and beaches. Some of the bridges (particularly the first one coming from Puerto Jimenez) are a bit scary--the railings have been stolen and the bridge is the width of the car---but you'll get used to it and it adds to the adventure:) The surrounding area is incredible with lush jungle and beautiful farms. If you don't venture off the property, you are still guaranteed to see a ton of wildlife---I even saw a Jaguarundi while sitting on the deck--amazing! Thanks Allison for being so easy to work with and for sharing your amazing piece of paradise! We hope to return!"

  • AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

"I have been to Cabo Matapalo 6 times and have stayed at many lovely places, but Casa Osa Marmaris is my favorite! First of all, let me talk about the people. As you know, that can make all the difference. Ximena is so professional, organized, responsive, and helpful with all of the little details as I was hosting a Wellness Adventures Retreat and there were more details than usual. The caretakers, Isaac and Desiree are the absolute best! They welcome you with Costa Rican hospitality and you truly feel taken care of the entire time. Desiree is an amazing chef and prepared the most delicious, healthy, and fresh Costa Rican dishes that we could have ever asked for. I really enjoyed practicing my Spanish as Desiree was also practicing her English. We communicated perfectly and she always had such a warming friendly smile on her face! So, let me try to explain and capture the feeling of the house. Imagine beautiful turquoise blue ocean right in front of you, the sounds of the waves crashing, and since the Casa sits up a little higher, AMAZING ocean breezes and rainforest all around you. Listen to the sounds of scarlet macaws, toucans, and howler monkeys, all while doing Yoga or receiving a therapeutic massage under an open air thatch roof gorgeous house with indigenous hardwood floors. We were up for a spectacular sunrise every morning as we just couldn’t bear to miss it and we were greeted by dolphins a couple of times too! The separate unit concept is brilliant. You can retreat to your own bungalow and have your own space with the same fantastic view, or you can hang out in the main house and lounge in the comfortable furniture. Combine that with the fact that this house is situated right in the middle of one of the most biodiverse places in the world…..paradise! You feel as though you are in a zoo, but you have the privilege of seeing all the animals in their natural habitat. 4 types of monkeys, 3 toed sloths, largest population of scarlet macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, etc. This is where the rainforest comes right up to the ocean, so there will be many times when you are on one of the many deserted beaches, and you will be greeted by scarlet macaws, hawks, and monkeys. It is so stunning that it took a while for the members of my retreat to absorb it all! Experience of a lifetime!!"
