  • Fantastic jungle home

"We had a fabulous time at the Sierpe del Pacifico property. If you are looking for a wild Costa Rican adventure, then you won't be disappointed. The home is beautiful, and the views stunning. We were awakened by howler monkeys every morning and found them sleeping on the property during the day, and most mornings a large troupe of white-faced capuchin monkeys passed right by the house. There were lots of birds to watch, and a fruit garden to go pick your own fruit...paradise found! We took a night tour of the mangrove and saw mammals (including squirrel monkeys), birds, crocs, caimans and snakes. We took a horseback riding tour and were wowed by the generosity of Rosita and her family on their farmstead; we went fishing in the ocean and caught five species of fish including red snapper, albacore tuna and roosterfish - while seeing porpioses and sea turtles to boot! The house is well equipped, the staff are welcoming and friendly. When we went in March it was hot and humid for us northerners - an outdoor shower might be a nice addition to the property for a quick cool down - but all in all we were wowed with this portion of our trip."

  • Loved the atmosphere!

"We shared a week at Casa Arenosa with another couple. Lots of space for everyone to find a place to relax, and wonderful spaces to come together and socialize. As mentioned in most of the reviews, the plunge pool is a welcome treat, and miraculously stays cool even with daily temperatures in the mid 30's. We enjoyed the trails through the Bosque del Cabo area, and had an incredible dinner there on one of our nights. Maureen, the chef, created some amazing dishes, including a delicious rare tuna that we all enjoyed. A highlight for us at Arenosa were the Scarlet Macaws, and we were thrilled as we packed the car to leave when 2 pairs did a fly-over salute together to say good-bye! My only negative comment would be that the description on the website could use some up-dating. A useable grill does not exist, so we had to re-plan meals for the meat that we had brought to grill. There is solar power that runs lights and a refrigerator, so although you are living off-the-grid there really are no inconveniences. We used an unplugged second refrigerator to store dry goods in; but found it to be a poor option with some mold being present. A well sealed cupboard or large lidded plastic bin would have worked much better. The cookware was great, knives not bad, plenty of cutting boards, but limited drinking glasses . . . and those that were there were worn and tired. Nothing for wine, but when we mentioned this the caretaker kindly brought some wine glasses the next day. Mike, the caretaker was busy most of the week, and we never did have an opportunity to meet Cecily who was also busy doing massages. Wi-Fi was reliable and fairly strong . . . a convenience for some, but I really was looking forward to finding this location to be too remote allowing me to test whether I could still spend a week disconnected from the world! All things considered . . . a wonderful spot to enjoy nature and the beach."

  • Truly, Paradise on the Osa

"Tres Palmas is absolutely breathtaking. The attention to detail in respect to the lodgings were far beyond my expectations. The craftsmanship of the main building and cabanas showed all the hallmarks of skilled crafters, even down to the hand carved reliefs on all of the solid wood doors. The grandeur of Tres Palmas is further heighted by the fact that this beauty is in fact smack dab in the middle of the Jungle The surrounding jungle and trees were teaming with wildlife every day. We spotted the majority of the may species from the comfort of the negative edge pool or within a short walk from the houses. I read that this area was rich in plant and animal species but never expected it to be literally outside my bedroom door. But wait.... as if this was not enough sensory overload it got better. World renowned surf was breaking just a short, but steep hike, away. The hike down to the beaches in the mornings were fantastic. The caretaker (Marvin) and his wife (Yerlin) were first class all the way. From the superior meals they cooked for us (there were 6 in our party) to the cleanliness of the house. Marvin was also very informative about the local culture, terrain, safety precautions, pointing out wild life and just being an all around wonderful person. Thinking back now, after being back in the states for a week, all I can say is WOW!!! Words really can not describe this place. One has to immerse themselves in order to get a full understanding. THANK YOU!! Marvin, Yerlin and family."
