"This was our second time to stay at Pt. pilon. We had parrot, toucan, and monkey parades in the trees to watch. Caretakers Scott and Maria suggested local food, transportation, and culture which greatly enriched our experiences during our 2 week stay. Maria is a great
cook! The property is perfect for small groups to gather in the main house while providing privacy when retiring at night in the main house and cabinas. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals and drinks to enjoy while watching sunsets over the bay and waves rolling in the point. The pool is maintained daily and provides ample room for 6 people to enjoy. Ms. Molly is a sweet dog that stays on the property and is very loyal. If you are looking for pure relaxation-this is the place! Thanks for allowing us to rent again and we hope to return."

"The stay at this site was too short. We were trying to be ambitious and stay on both sides of the Golfo Dulce in a 6 day period. We had such a fun time at this property surf, swim, and golf (yes golf). It was a lovely house enjoyed old movies that were there with the kids and felt pampered. Next time we bring more friends and family and have a family fiesta. You won't need but light clothing, packing light is recommended. We drove from San Jose you might consider flight to Quepos and renting car from Vamos. But we were glad to stop for groceries in Jaco for gourmet items ( Tofu, almond milk, granola, peanut butter, jelly etc) and Rio Claro for staples.) Groceries are high in Pavones. Make sure you turn on road before Surf restaurant, we missed it first time. Judi the owner is great and supportive by phone in those moments. Arrive before dark reduces anxiety for cars occupants. But when you wake up in am you will be amazed at properties location and amenities, like your own private Hotel."

"This was our third trip to Casa Amarilla and I always leave hoping there will be many more to come. This time we only stayed for a week. In the past we'd stayed for a month. I wish we could stay for a year! We absolutely love it here. Pavones is an amazing area that is still sort of a best kept secret. On the drive from SJO to Finca Estrella you pass through the bustling touristy towns of Jaco, Hermosa, and Manuel Antonio where you sometimes see more American's than Ticos. As you drive further south everything becomes a little calmer. The beaches are beautiful. We love Pilon because we are almost always the only people there and it is a short drive down the hill. My husband even made the journey by foot two years ago. I definitely recommend a 4WD vehicle for getting around. Each year that we've stayed we've seen monkeys, toucans, and macaws all from the deck. Nature is all around you here. You see from your bedroom windows what others pay for tour guides to see. And if you don't notice it on your own Freddy is always there to help point things out. I could go on and on about the incredible kindness of the people who work on Finca Estrella for pages and pages. Freddy is the most easy going and helpful person. My children talk about Grace all the time. We were happy to go on an excursion to a waterfall with her husband Enrique who is a phenomenal tour guide. The minute we get home from this place I start looking for flights back."

"We spent just over two weeks in Costa Rica in November / December 2014, with the first week being spent driving all over the country and the second week spent relaxing at Casa Amarilla. It was a welcome break after spending so much time on the road having had only a couple of nights in each place along the way.
The house itself was very spacious (considering there were only two of us) with a very comfy master bedroom and a huge kitchen / living area. The terrace that wrapped around the back of the property was incredible with the most amazing views of Pavones Bay. We spent a lot of time lazing in the hammocks watching for birds / monkeys and any number of other creatures that live in the surrounding forest. The pool area on the finca was also really nice and so private!
Pilon beach was a short drive away which was beautiful and again, extremely private. It's a great place to really get away from it all. We also tried paddleboarding, surfing and horse riding so there is lots to keep you amused.
Would recommend this place in a heartbeat and look forward to returning one day soon."
