  • exactly as pictured, delightful home!

"My husband and I stayed for two weeks in this lovely home. The pictures are completely accurate - clean, a/c and hot water work well. Beach is directly across the little road - we rarely saw anyone on the beach, and saw no more than 15 people on weekend days. Very peaceful. Claudia was very responsive to contacts and set us up for two tours (zipline was great; monkey boat tour is great if you just want to see and have fun with monkeys - if you want a narrated tour describing all of the flora and fauna you see in the mangrove, choose one other than Rafa). Some other reviews mentioned security - if you behave as you would in a big city (lock the doors, don't leave belongings unattended), you're fine. We felt totally safe. Must have car."

  • Epic vacation!

"We stayed at Beachwood for 9 heavenly nights. The home and the property it sits upon are a living piece of art. It's so simple and casual, yet very elegant. Beyond the morning walks on the beach and the occasional dinner out, we found that we never wanted to leave the property. The staff are extremely accommodating and kept the home and grounds immaculate. Our concierge gave great suggestions for restaurants and brought in a fantastic masseuse. Our chef, Rob Essa, delighted us with several incredible lunches and dinners, mostly fresh fish caught the same day. We enjoyed the wildlife and were greeted by a troupe of howler monkeys that were mostly unimpressed by us. Sleep isn't the same since we've been home. The sound of the ocean, the comfortable bed and the sweet-smelling air are all that's missing."

  • Perfect Panoramic View

"We just returned from two weeks at Casa Sunset. Matapalo is a great location if you enjoy being away from the crowds. Just to the north and south are two larger towns, Quepos and Dominical, with all of their amenities, each close to a National Park. It was easy to travel either direction and nice to "come home" to your own bit of paradise. Casa Sunset has spectacular views of the ocean and sunsets to die for. Yes, you do have to travel up a steep road to get there. Along that very road we saw Capuchin monkeys and the large trees at the house attract many birds. We saw parrots, toucans, laughing falcons and many other small colorful birds while sitting on the patio. We saw sloths every day along the beach road in Matapalo. In other words, you don't have to travel far to see much of the amazing wildlife Costa Rica is famous for. The house has all you need, we cooked dinner for ourselves every night. My husband especially enjoyed grilling. As nice as the house is, you will find that you will spend most of your time in the outdoor space. Casa Sunset has a wonderful pool and patio. Some is undercover in case of the occasional shower. You can open the large french doors and have the wonderful indoor/outdoor living that Cost Rica's climate allows. Perfect!!!"

  • Beautiful spot, gracious friendly owners

"The pictures do not do this place justice. It is a beautiful three bedroom home, with two bedrooms having their own bathroom, and another bathroom in the hallway. Yes, it's hot there, but the pool and air-conditioning in the bedrooms is great. Katherine and Jeff are great people and they have a lovely property there. Very helpful with ideas of fresh fish, where to eat, how to get anywhere etc. Jeff did some morning yoga with my husband in their lovely yoga pavilion each day and even lent him a guitar to play. The home is large, the grounds beautiful. The town of Cubuya is a nice laid back fishing village outside Montezuma. My only concern was all the stray dogs in the area, but that is common in Costa Rica and very heart breaking, even though I'm not even a dog lover. However, the property is very private and fenced. Would highly recommend this place. The owners are always there and available but respect your privacy too. Great value to live in your own private home while in a safe and protected property."
