"If you are looking for a place far away from tourists. This is it. The house is on the beach as advertised and the only obstruction of the view is a couple of palm trees. We spent hours sitting on the private patio watching the macaws in the almond trees. Be careful they may drop those almonds on your head. Huge flocks of parrots settle in at dusk making a lot of noise. Dave and Kate are the perfect host and a true asset to the owners of this property. They answered our questions immediately from the first inquiry and checked on us during our stay. We even had dinner with them. As small as this little town is you will not lack anything. There is a great restaurant just a few steps away and the local store just a short walk around the corner. The nearest bank is a short drive to Jaco. You will need to rent a car. The only thing we would advise is not to leave the house lights on at night. The bugs will come. That is the only reason this beautiful house with the perfect location does not receive 5 stars. However that is no fault of Dave and Kate. We stayed here on our honeymoon and hope to visit again. I'll say again Esterillos Oeste is a private location and if you are looking for a constant night life, look elsewhere. However we were most grateful to find this gem."

"This condo worked beautifully for our 4 night stay. We were two adult couples traveling so having the two separate bedroom/bathroom combinations worked excellently. Loved the view, spotted howler monkeys in the trees one evening. We were in the rainy season and witnessed an awesome 8 hour lightning and thunderstorm, great views at night from the balcony.
Best to have a car to get around. With 4WD you can drive down to one of the close beaches. Really liked that this property was off the main road so felt more secluded.
Recommend Emilios restaurant just down the road.
Now, here is my caution if you are staying at this location over a weekend. The hotel hosted a 'dance party' on Saturday from 3:00 - 11:00 pm. They set up a DJ near the pool who played blaring music with an electronica beat for yes, 8 hours. The speakers faced all the residence towers and not the hotel. It was too loud inside and with the doors/windows closed. We and others staying in the condo complained but the management was not responsive. Even though there was NO one at the party for the first five hours! It seemed to get started only after 8:00 pm. It looked like this was geared to locals as we did not receive an invitation (they had slipped a flyer under the door for a live music and food discount on Friday night, which had no impact on us). In fact, our rafting guides the next day mentioned they knew about the party from Facebook. It even impeded our ability to drive in/out as they had roped off the entrance and we had to continually prove we belonged on the premises.
This is no reflection on the owners or management company as their hands were tied, nothing Linda, Michael, or Alex could do about the situation. Just an unfortunate experience that detracted wildly from our relaxing vacation. We'd expected Saturday to be our relax at home/pool day. Other than that, I would give it five stars."

"This condo was a perfect spring break rental for my husband, son and me. Everything was well maintained in the condo itself, and the grounds. The path providing beach access from the condo was nicely shaded, had a lovely stream with beautiful plants and flowers, frequently visited by bird life, and many lizards. The pool is a bit small, but provided a shaded alternative to the beach in the heat of the day. The condo is near to 2 or 3 surfboard rental and lesson locations on the beach. Wonderful trail to hike in hills very nearby where we saw a toucan close-up. We saw many macaws fly over and hang out nearby on the beach. Many restaurant options in nearby Jaco. So much fresh fruit. It was awesome. Thanks to the Richard for providing helpful suggestions for nearby activities. Could probably get by without a car. Car rental was unexpectedly expensive because Thrifty didn't mention at booking that required insurance doubles rental rate. Suggest you look into that during booking."

"Our group of 16 friends stayed at Blue Macaw a few weeks ago for a bachelor party trip and loved everything about this place. The layout and grounds were perfect, the beachfront access was great, the pool is huge, and the service from the Jaco VIP staff went far beyond our expectations. We never had any problems partying hard and loud or just relaxing and recovering. Privacy was a big concern for us when we booked this and we had plenty of it the whole time we were there. It is very close to the center of Jaco and all the action and party scene. A little too far too walk to town, but a real fast and real cheap taxi ride in either direction. You couldn't ask for a better location, right on the beach, private and secure, and close to everything fun."
