  • First time in Costa Rica - Best trip ever!

"We are a family of five with teenagers. As we have never rented a house through VRBO before, we were pleasantly surprised with the fabulous accommodations and the convenience of it all. The house was spacious and well decorated, with all the necessary amenities in good working order. The Infinity pool and outdoor shower were a big hit. Even my wife who never swims in pools took a few dips. Our youngest boy was in constant awe of the surroundings, with many iguana, toucan, monkey and other animal sightings. We even saw an owl land in a neighbouring palm tree. The owner and his staff really take care of this place and we would recommend it to friends and family. On occasion, the road noise is a bit noticeable, but did not take away from our fabulous experience overall. Jaco and Playa Hermosa are outstanding places to visit. Our kids learned to surf and loved the ATV trip through the mountains, which included swimming in a natural waterfall lagoon. WOW!!! Can't wait to come back in the near future!"

  • Luxury overlooking the bay.

"Yes - this place really does exist! The rental agent could have been a bit more prompt in returning e-mails, but her suggestions and help were spot-on. The owners rep, Peter, lives right across the road and was there with a big smile every morning after sunrise (which occurs over-looking the bay as you sit by the pool) and was full of information on where to go, what to do and who to see. It seems like he knows everyone and is always making sure that everything is right. There were 9 of us, spanning 3 generations, and we still had a bedroom left over. You do need a car, but it doesn't HAVE to be 4WD unless you're there in rainy season - it just needs to sit up higher than a car depending on where you're going. The roads are a joke, so speeding isn't something you have to worry about. Most of the roads are dirt and so poorly maintained that an old cow path might be easier to traverse, and the number of motorcycles and ATVs are about the same as cars/trucks, so be careful when moving to avoid a hole in the road as you don't want to hit a motorcyclist trying to pass you. I would highly recommend the Saturday morning market if you're looking for produce. We did the Zip line tours with Sun Trails, and they were great, as was Zuma Tours for snorkeling and Tortuga Island. Peter recommended some great restaurants, and some of the fun was just strolling around and eating at a place that just happened to be there when we got hungry. The locals are all very friendly and most speak some English. Everyone takes American $$. Make sure you take enough so you don't have to use the ATM. Half of our group has already had their bank accounts hacked after using the ATM in Playa Carmen. Can't say enough about the Villa. It was the PERFECT spot to spend the Christmas/New Year week."

  • Wonderful stay in fantastic home!

"We had a wonderful stay at Casa Zabala a couple of weeks ago. The home was spacious and charming. We appreciated the warm hospitality of Alex, the brother-in-law of Ken who was away the weekend we were there. The plantation is so peaceful and tropical- mangoes, bananas, mandarin oranges abound and renters are welcome to pick and enjoy. Our 3 young kids fell in love with Estella, the farm's German Shepard! She slept on the porch all night. No satellite tv, but we brought a kindle and laptop and watched netflix with no trouble. Our only regret was not bringing along more family/friends to enjoy this home! So much space went unused! I could have laid on the hammock on the upstairs porch for several days...yet we had only booked one night and were on our way to the beach after seeing the cloud forest. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

  • Great house!

"My family and I stayed at this house for 3 nights and we had a wonderful time. The house is cozy; it is equipped with everything you need and is very comfortable for large groups. This was my baby’s first trip to the beach and this house really helped my husband and me to make him feel at home. The house has a terrace perfect for reading, relaxing or even taking a nap; surrounded by nature and with a stunning 180° ocean view. I would definitely love to come back."
