  • Had a very relaxed time

"I came down to this nice place with my Girlfriend and her 2 teenaged kids and we had a great time. The house is well appointed and in a great location. In the mornings we could get deliveries of eggs, bread and sometimes a local fisherman named Cesar would come by with his catch and is available to take you out fishing as well. If you want to go fishing I recommend bringing gear as Rapalas and good rods are near impossible to find. The surfing was good and restaurants are walking distance. The house is on the beach right on a surf break. David is nice and easy to deal with. We left feeling like we will be back again. Pura Vida!"

  • Didn't Want to Leave!

"Wow---great villa with an amazing view! We had our family reunion there with people ranging from 80's to a toddler and the layout was perfect for a large group of 16. The kitchen and great room are much larger than we expected. The pool area was where we spent much of our time. The owner Flora was a delight to deal with. The housekeeper Sara really took good care of us every day. Kelley the concierge was helpful setting up activities for us. The view was beyond words. Puda vida!"

  • Amazing House, Nestled in Nature

"Our family (myself, my husband, and our 3 children, ages 9-12) recently stayed at Case de e’Smith. There was plenty of room, and privacy, for everyone. The kids enjoyed everything from the Wi-Fi to the pool, while my husband and I enjoyed early morning to late night on the balcony overlooking the forest and all of its wildlife. There was a particular hummingbird that perched just off of the porch. We later discovered that she was nesting in the mango tree beside the deck, and we could watch her keeping her babies warm when she roosted from the master bedroom balcony. In addition to the several types of hummingbirds, we saw scarlet macaws every morning and evening, as well as aracari, cuckoos, and many, many more birds I could not identify. Butterflies where everywhere during the day, and there were huge moths, nighthawks, and bats to watch at night. We assumed that mosquitoes would be a problem, but were pleasantly surprised to not be bothered by them at all—even in the middle of the rainy season. In fact, our entire stay at Casa de e’Smith exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed all the comforts the inside and outside of the house offered, and while the listing does not show any pictures of the kitchen, it is just as beautiful as the rest of the house, and it (and the dining room and its balcony) has a fantastic view of the forest and the ocean beyond. Ron and Vicky gave us some great advice for negotiating our Costa Rican vacation. Their directions helped us get through the airport and navigate the surprisingly easy drive from the airport to Tarcoles. David helped my husband become oriented with the town, and we were easily able to acquire supplies for our stay. Overall, I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this house was. It was comfortable, secure, and convenient. The view was spectacular, the wildlife and birdsong was amazing, and we cannot wait until our next vacation at Casa de e’Smith."

  • beautiful jungle house with spectacular views!

"We were lucky to spend a few days in Bosque en el Cielo. Great spacious house. The master bedroom is surrounded by windows, with a great view. Very quiet and serene and full of light. Dominical is down the hill if you need to buy groceries or go to a restaurant or go to the beach. Otherwise it was nice to relax on the infinity pool or on the terrace listening to the birds and animals. The pics dont do justice to the real beauty of this property. Would love to rent it again in the future!"
