  • Fabulous property with great view!

"My husband and I and another couple (friends) shared this home for a week and had a great time! The home is VERY nice, comfortably furnished, and large enough to accommodate a much bigger group than we had, but in all honesty, we spent little time in the house. The majority of our waking hours were in the fabulous outdoor living space, in the pool, and enjoying the amazing views! This was our third visit to Santa Teresa but our first stay at Casa de los Suenos, which turned out to be our favorite place to stay. We hope to return for another visit again in the future. While the drive up the mountains to the home is longer than I initially expected, it was nice to be away from the dust and noise of the main street in town, but still close enough to drive in to go to the beach, go out for dinner, or enjoy other activities. So peaceful at the house, but you definitely need a 4-wheel vehicle to get up there! A little too far and too steep to walk to/from town, in my opinion, but we enjoyed the seclusion the home offered and the 'adventure' of getting there! The owners were very nice and a great resource when we had questions about Santa Teresa and the surrounding areas. Can't wait to go back again!!"

  • Peaceful paradise

"My husband and I stayed in Casita Kala (next to Casa Kala) for just over a week. We were pleasantly surprised that the casita lived up to the pictures we saw on-line. Inside, the bed was super comfortable, and it was nice to have the kitchen to prepare our own meals. The bathroom is outdoors so we had to get used to visits from local land crabs (part of the experience:). It rained quite a bit while we were there (start of the rainy season) but there is a beautiful covered outdoor patio with a table and hammock so that was a real bonus. The grounds of Batik Costa Rica are very well kept and secure. There is a security guard at the front over night and cars are parked inside the gate. We felt very safe here. The walk to the beach is quite short, and playa hermosa is a quieter and cleaner version of Playa Carmen (previously Playa Santa Teresa)...it is a sandy beach (no stones) and lots of waves. The rip tide can be quite strong so those with young children would want to be extra cautious. We rented an SUV this trip which is a must have if you stay here and want to be able to do day trips and your own grocery shopping. Super Ronny 2 is where we did most of our shopping. Recommended restaurants Habanero for solid Mexican food, El Pulpo for take out pizza, and if you are willing to drive to Montezuma, Playa des los Artistas was great with the view of the ocean. The manager Dahlia was great and super accommodating to us during our stay. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job cleaning our room everyday and making it smell nice. We would absolutely go back, it is a great place to spend time if you really just want to relax and get away from it all."

  • Trust me, you want to stay here!

"I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone. My boyfriend and I spent one week here in February, we felt quite lucky to have such a large place to ourselves as it does sleep 8 very comfortably. Each room is its own contained unit making it great for 3-4 couples travelling together. We chose to fly with Air Sansa from San Jose to Tambor where we met our taxi to Santa Teresa. This leg of trip in its self is an adventure. Our ATV's for the week were dropped off at the house upon our arrival and were picked up the day we left - our taxis, activities, dinner reservations & ATV's were all set up by the house manager who did a great job communicating with us and ensuring we were using the best companies. The sunsets and view alone from the pool were worth every penny. The road to the house is quite steep as mentioned and we were happy to have ATV's rather than a rental car. We'd recommend: - Tortuga island with Zumatours, we saw pilot whales, dolphins, blowfish and Macaws. - The spa at Florblanca as well as the restaurant - we had lunch and dinner on the beach there *you can use there pool and beautiful beach area with bar service. - ATV from house to Montezuma, don't miss the big Strangler Fir, monkeys or splashing through the rivers. - Kojis has a nice dinner atmosphere and their sushi isn't too bad either, make a reservation. ***Lots of places are cash only and except US and Colones. The rooms are simple and exactly what you need. Comfortable, clean queen beds. The caretakers are excellent and skim the pool each day as well as general tidy the house and garbages. Our laundry was even hanging out to dry when we got home most days. The kitchen, dining and living area is a great space too. Honey and Camilla are two canine frequent visitors, we loved having them stop by along with some horses, a bull frog, humming birds - lots of birds and lizards. I'm sure anyone would love their time at this property. It's private yet close to everything you need."

  • Just as superb, if not better, in the off-season

"This is the place where I step-off the grid of big-city life and a stressful job. Santa Teresa. The White House is the perfect retreat to take a group of friends or family. Ladies on a trip can get their daily yoga in right next door at Pranamar or "sip in the sunset" poolside. Gents on a trip, can surf at one of the world's best beaches, a quick walk away at Hermosa. Take a fishing boat out for the day in nearby Mal Pais. Come back to the house and cook it up - the dining table seats 8-10. Not to mention, being an event planner by trade I have noted, the house is uniquely set-up perfectly to host a small to mid-size wedding or special event. The way the kitchen is designed, the entry, the view and the back lawn facing the ocean, suitable to bring in tables and seat away. Use the Master suite for the bride/groom + family and the two villas for the wedding party. If you need catering, there are many wonderful chefs in town. Ask Mario, the house manager for my specific recommendations. Then hire me as your event producer - as I will fly down from the states. I know all the locals and speak the language. ~your bon vivant."
