  • Extremely happy customer

"This was our third time back to mariposa vacation homes.. We have stayed at every one of the properties for some period of time.. Each one is incredible in their own way.. This year, they added beach cruiser bikes and 2 surfboards per property which was an incredible addition.. The bikes were perfect for cruising around town and on the beach.. And the boards were perfect for helping some beginning surfers tackle the incredible surf out front.. The concierge and staff could not be more helpful and friendly.. Any questions or concerns were only a phone call away even though there were few.. We have been vacationing in Santa teresa for several weeks at a time for the past 13 years... I couldn't imagine staying at any other property. The staff have become my extended Costa Rican family and I look forward to seeing the incredible staff just as much as I do the beautiful views Costa Rica has to offer... I can't express how absolutely amazing this property is..."

  • The best vacation to date

"I just got back from Santa Teresa with my husband and four other friends/family and would highly reccommend not only going to Santa Teresa, but staying at Casa Escondida. The house was gorgeous and slept the 6 of us very comfortably. The pool was a plus and you are literally steps from the beach, which was just gorgeous and peaceful. So far, this was the best vacation to date. Kristian, the owner, was super friendly and helpful. He came by the house a couple of times to see how we were and to suggest delicious places to eat and fun activities to do. There was also a maid, who was there daily to clean the house and make our beds, etc. She was a delight! I highly recommend coming to Santa Teresa and staying at Casa Escondida. Just make sure you talk to Kristian first about specific details on how to find the house, its engligh meaning is hidden house, and was hard to find:) The locals were friendly and the food was outrageously delicioso!! As the locals say, PURA VIDA!! I would go back in a heart beat, we all wish we were still there!!"

  • Just as superb, if not better, in the off-season

"This is the place where I step-off the grid of big-city life and a stressful job. Santa Teresa. The White House is the perfect retreat to take a group of friends or family. Ladies on a trip can get their daily yoga in right next door at Pranamar or "sip in the sunset" poolside. Gents on a trip, can surf at one of the world's best beaches, a quick walk away at Hermosa. Take a fishing boat out for the day in nearby Mal Pais. Come back to the house and cook it up - the dining table seats 8-10. Not to mention, being an event planner by trade I have noted, the house is uniquely set-up perfectly to host a small to mid-size wedding or special event. The way the kitchen is designed, the entry, the view and the back lawn facing the ocean, suitable to bring in tables and seat away. Use the Master suite for the bride/groom + family and the two villas for the wedding party. If you need catering, there are many wonderful chefs in town. Ask Mario, the house manager for my specific recommendations. Then hire me as your event producer - as I will fly down from the states. I know all the locals and speak the language. ~your bon vivant."

  • Peaceful paradise

"My husband and I stayed in Casita Kala (next to Casa Kala) for just over a week. We were pleasantly surprised that the casita lived up to the pictures we saw on-line. Inside, the bed was super comfortable, and it was nice to have the kitchen to prepare our own meals. The bathroom is outdoors so we had to get used to visits from local land crabs (part of the experience:). It rained quite a bit while we were there (start of the rainy season) but there is a beautiful covered outdoor patio with a table and hammock so that was a real bonus. The grounds of Batik Costa Rica are very well kept and secure. There is a security guard at the front over night and cars are parked inside the gate. We felt very safe here. The walk to the beach is quite short, and playa hermosa is a quieter and cleaner version of Playa Carmen (previously Playa Santa Teresa)...it is a sandy beach (no stones) and lots of waves. The rip tide can be quite strong so those with young children would want to be extra cautious. We rented an SUV this trip which is a must have if you stay here and want to be able to do day trips and your own grocery shopping. Super Ronny 2 is where we did most of our shopping. Recommended restaurants Habanero for solid Mexican food, El Pulpo for take out pizza, and if you are willing to drive to Montezuma, Playa des los Artistas was great with the view of the ocean. The manager Dahlia was great and super accommodating to us during our stay. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job cleaning our room everyday and making it smell nice. We would absolutely go back, it is a great place to spend time if you really just want to relax and get away from it all."
