  • Excellent Stay

"I came here with 7 of my friends for a bachelor party, and this place was absolutely perfect. Sleeping accommodations were nice, but the weather was so beautiful I ended up sleeping in one of the many hammocks on the property right on the beach. Property was clean and well-maintained when we arrived, and the property manager was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Clean bedding and towels were provided for us. The property is located just steps from the beach, which is secluded and not crowded at all, for those who are seeking some privacy. Note that this property is a bit off the beaten path and away from other hotels/resorts, so it is ideal for someone looking to get away from it all and have a more low-key vacation. There is a bar/restaurant right next door to the property, but otherwise anything else is a ~20 minute walk, or 5 minute quad ride. I would definitely recommend this property, and would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Costa Rica in the future."

  • Peaceful paradise

"My husband and I stayed in Casita Kala (next to Casa Kala) for just over a week. We were pleasantly surprised that the casita lived up to the pictures we saw on-line. Inside, the bed was super comfortable, and it was nice to have the kitchen to prepare our own meals. The bathroom is outdoors so we had to get used to visits from local land crabs (part of the experience:). It rained quite a bit while we were there (start of the rainy season) but there is a beautiful covered outdoor patio with a table and hammock so that was a real bonus. The grounds of Batik Costa Rica are very well kept and secure. There is a security guard at the front over night and cars are parked inside the gate. We felt very safe here. The walk to the beach is quite short, and playa hermosa is a quieter and cleaner version of Playa Carmen (previously Playa Santa Teresa)...it is a sandy beach (no stones) and lots of waves. The rip tide can be quite strong so those with young children would want to be extra cautious. We rented an SUV this trip which is a must have if you stay here and want to be able to do day trips and your own grocery shopping. Super Ronny 2 is where we did most of our shopping. Recommended restaurants Habanero for solid Mexican food, El Pulpo for take out pizza, and if you are willing to drive to Montezuma, Playa des los Artistas was great with the view of the ocean. The manager Dahlia was great and super accommodating to us during our stay. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job cleaning our room everyday and making it smell nice. We would absolutely go back, it is a great place to spend time if you really just want to relax and get away from it all."

  • Perfect family layout

"The house and property is set up so well for kids. We have 4 (6,5,3 and 20 months). Lots of private space for them to run and explore. In the first 2 days we saw from our backyard, a family of monkeys with their babies, several different iguanas, birds, geckos and tones of butterflies. The covered patio is awesome to escape the sun but still have lots of room to play. The pool is a safe distance from the house so we did not stress about our youngest falling in but close enough that when everyone was swimming/wearing water wings around the pool we could sit up on the deck and relax. We did 2 trips to the beach each day and the walk with 4 little ones was a breeze. The sunsets were amazing! My favourite part of the day was from 4-6 on the beach. The Mariposa staff was very attentive and any request we had they were on it immediately. Very friendly and hard working people. Thanks for all your help! We ate at Koji's which is mandatory and you will hear that from everyone! Habaneros was also good food, great (and only) spot on the beach and ideal for kids as their are tones of crabs after sunset."

  • Paradise in Beach Haven

"Maison Marazul is situated in paradise on a beautiful piece of coastline, walking distance to both Flor Blanca and Pranamar Villas. So without getting in your car you can enjoy the finest food (at Pranamar), yoga at both, and excellent beaches. Mario, the manager, made all the arrangements so easy--he has the patience of a saint, and delivers exceptional advice and service with competence, efficiency and professionalism. In addition to making all our housing arrangements at the house, he reserved accommodations and transport for our party of 6 in San Jose and up North. We love Mario! And Tania provided excellent concierge services, including arrangements for paddle-boarding and massages. Now back to the house--it could not be more beautiful and comfortable. Five days was not long enough to try out all the different outdoor seating areas. We watched the monkeys playing in the trees from the comfort of our lounge chairs--a National Geographic experience in the front yard! We enjoyed the beach sunsets, the sounds of the birds and cicadas, the iguanas , the hammocks, the pool and even the bats. The beds and house could not be more comfortable, serviced daily by a housekeeper and grounds person. For food we would highly recommend The Bakery in Santa Theresa (try the coffee and crumbled cheese cake), Mary's Restaurant in Mal Pais, Pranamar's restaurant. When we go back to Costa Rica, we will certainly arrange our trip with Mario."
