"My wife and I stayed in this beautiful and convenient house during the first week of April 2014. Access to the house, which may accommodate conveniently a large family, requires a 4x4 car. The house is ideally located for sightseeing along the Southern Pacific shore, from Quepos to Osa peninsula. Cerro de la Muerte is less than two hours by car. A supermarket and a few good restaurants are in Dominical, about five miles away. Watching sunset over the Pacific from the porch competes with any postcard. The caretaker was extremely kind and helpful. We will recommend this place to our friends making plans to visit Costa Rica."

  • House near Tarcoles

"There were 8 adults on this trip. 4 stayed stayed in this house and 4 next door. We had a very relaxing time. We were looking for affordable lodging, not a 4 star resort or motel/hotel. We wanted to be immersed in the culture of Costa Rica. We felt very safe and secure here. The locals were all very friendly. Sure wish we spoke Spanish. These houses fit the bill. The houses were clean and bedrooms were air conditioned. A problem with a water heater and an air conditioner were fixed right away. In the 2 story only 1 main shower was working. We made do without the other 2 so never mentioned it. There is a fish camp next to one of the houses. It was interesting watching them as they headed out and returned each day. Patri did an absolutely wonderful job at taking care of our every need. We enjoyed coffee every morning with the Macaws and Frigates and local dogs. They seemed to know we were dog lovers and were waiting for us every morning when we stepped outside. Walked the beach a few times everyday. You won't want to swim here. Very rocky and the commercial shrimpers come too close to shore and keep the water stirred up. There is swimming a short walk away. We used the pools everyday. Tarcoles is a small fishing village. It is a close enough walk via beach, at low tide, or road for supplies. If you walk the beach you will encounter the boat "yard" where the locals mend nets and fix boats. We also took the bus to Heradura and Jaco a few times. Another reviewer mentioned how the trucks using their jake brakes was a problem. Yes you can hear them but actually this did not bother us. Very much enjoyed meeting Gino and Maria form Tico Style Tours, Gilbreth, of Jaco Travels and Herra and his family who kept up the grounds and pool. Herra brought us different local fruits each day from his garden. What a joy that was trying fruits we had never heard of before. Being so close to the ocean and being able to hear it at night was so relaxing. We grilled fresh fish and shrimp from the fish coop. We had a very good time. Thanks again to Patri for helping make this a memorable vacation."

  • Paradise Found

"This villa is our new favorite place in the world. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations, the beach, and the town. The pictures online don't capture just how beautiful it all is in person. Rick and Ginny were excellent and we thank them dearly for introducing us to it all."

Tambor Travel Tips

Tambor Beach Rentals on Whale Bay

Cliffs rising above the sea, which is ringed by sandy beaches and Tambor beach rentals, await you in Costa Rica. Tambor is nestled in Puntarenas Province on the Pacific Ocean on a horseshoe-shaped bay. The bay is named Bahia Ballena or Whale Bay because the whales used to visit during the drier seasons. Unfortunately, the whales hardly ever come into the bay, so your vacations in Costa Rica might require a boat trip if you want to see these magnificent creatures. The area is filled with Tambor resorts to welcome guests onto the Nicoya Peninsula.

Tambor Resorts in a Biological Reserve

The Nicoya Peninsula is considered the biological corridor of Costa Rica due to the ecological biodiversity found around Tambor resorts. On the northern side of the bay, a few minutes from Tambor beach rentals, is the Curu Wildlife Reserve. The reserve protects the wildlife of Costa Rica such as the various species of birds, reptiles, and sea turtles. Your vacations in Costa Rica can be spent roaming the Islas Tortugas, a paradise reached by boat from Tambor. It is one of the only tropical islands of the area not overly crowded by tourists.

Vacations in Costa Rica with Palm Tree Lanes

A few of the Tambor resorts are right on the beach, so you will not require a car. However, you may want a car to explore other beaches and nature reserves. The sand on the Tambor Beach is gray due to a high volcanic activity in the past. The beach of Tambor is lined with almendro and palm trees. Vacations in Costa Rica can be filled with volleyball, soccer, surfing, or water sports all available along the beach.

Tambor Beach Rentals Offer Hidden Pools for Swimming

If you are on a romantic holiday, take the time for beach walks from Tambor beach rentals. From the pier on the southern tip of Tambor, you can walk along the beach and up rocky paths to Cocalitos Beach. As you continue your walk, you will find El Chorro waterfall which empties into the ocean. In this area, there is a rocky pool filled with warm clear water for bathing in.
