  • An Intimate and Memorable Experience with the Real Costa Rica

"We were looking forward to returning to the Uvita area again this year after visiting just south of there for a shorter time last year. So we booked 2 weeks at this wonderful home. If you want to get close to what Costa Rica is really like, the nature, the ocean views and sunsets, then this is a perfect spot to spend your time. The owners have left the property so very well equipped and there was nothing we could not find when needed over the 2 week period. The view from the patio is as good as anything we have ever seen and the daily visit by Toucans, Hummingbirds and many other colorful birds we can't name was thoroughly enjoyed. The house opens up into an indoor/outdoor structure that really makes you feel like you are in touch with your surroundings and the property itself is planted and maintained like a garden with a beautiful variety of local plants. You can tell the owners put so much into their design concepts when building this home and it is modern, comfortable and everything works perfectly. The area offers so much to do. Our highlights were the local beaches, waterfalls, walking the Whale Tail, multiple area farmer's markets and the trip to Cano Island Preserve for Snorkeling and lunch. The trip down the Sierpe River was hard to beat but the snorkeling was surprisingly good and topped off with a visit by a sea turtle as we wound up the day. Yes the road is a challenge that takes a couple of trips to get used to but with a 4x4 SUV you will soon find it to be nothing difficult to manage if you are at all comfortable off blacktop. Highly recommended and promises to be a very unique and memorable Costa Rican experience."

  • A Month In Paradise!

"We chose Casa Mono Titi for a month long stay and were not disappointed. Everything was great from the amenities of the house to the fabulous wide open view. The house is located 10+ mins south of Ojochal. There are 2 variety stores, a restaurant and an excellent meat market in Coronada where you turn off to take the 8 minute steep, scenic drive to the house. Our grocery shopping was mostly done at the BM supermarkets in Uvita about 20 mins north but discovered we could drive same distance south to the Palmar Norte BM supermarket; prices and selection were a bit better. I suggest buying duty free liquor/wine at the SJO airport as prices are cheaper. Most of our fruits and veg were bought at the Saturday market in Uvita or at roadside stands. The house has a charcoal BBQ with a neat gimmick to get the charcoal going. Try the smoked pork chops (chuletas de cerdo ahumadas) from the Carniceria (butcher shop in Coronada); their meat is excellent, their English is not! Restaurants we enjoyed were the Boca Coronada and the Tilapia Farm (2nd one) on the way to Ojochal as well as Exotica, Citrus, Mama y Papas, Ylang Ylang, all excellent choices in Ojochal. Fabrizio's has fabulous pizza and pasta (the gnocchi was delish)-small seating area but they offer take-out. If going to Dominical, try Por-Que-No restaurant then check out their small beach. Our days started at 5:30 to in order catch the best of the bird and wildlife action. The Mono Titi monkeys were frequent visitors in the large trees; watch for branch movement as they can be hard to spot. That's what we loved most about "living" here, every day provided a new amazing nature experience. Remember you are in the jungle so expect surprises! The Corcovada day trip was excellent; be sure to take backpack with water, snack, binoculars, camera and water shoes (not flip flops) as you get on/off the boat in the water. Expect 4 hours of hiking in the jungle; you will need closed walking shoes or, if has been very wet, boots would be best. The Osa Ziplining was OK (Arenal ziplining is better); not sure their rope bridge is safe! The house has well-stocked kitchen, A/C in bdrms, lots of dvds, books and bird guides, many comfy and shaded outdoor seating choices and a refreshing pool w outdoor shower. Denise, the property manager and David, our pool guy were wonderful. We learned so much from both of them, which made our stay here an experience we will never forget. Thank you Karen and Mario for sharing your lovely casa!"

  • Perfect Spot

"We have been to Costa Rica with our kids 3 times prior to this trip but had never made it to the cloud forest. We decided this time we needed to check this off our bucket list. This rental was PERFECTION! The house was a great bargain. The view from inside is amazing and the property is well situated to get to the town of Santa Elena and a number of activities by foot. It is also a short drive from Selvatura and Curi-Cancha. The drive up to Santa Elena, like all driving in Costa Rica, is pretty intense, but is was so worth it! Definitely recommend 4WD and a manual transmission! Richard gave us without question the best, most detailed, and most accurate directions to the house, all our activities and back to the airport that I have ever received on a trip. He also had wonderful suggestions for activities and dining. He very thoughtfully provided us with tons of extra blankets. When we arrived the temperature had dropped quite a bit and we were traveling with our 4 and 6 year old daughters. We were perfectly comfortable thanks to his thoughtfulness. I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Rosewood Shop and Orchid gardens. The owners there are incredibly kind. Also the Santa Maria Night Tour and Selvatura bridges were definitely worth seeing."

  • Two couples who love the beach, ocean and sun

"We just returned from a 10 day stay at LaPaloma A-1 on Jaco beach. The condo was everything we'd hoped for and so much more. The two bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, were perfect for our needs. We spent much of our time on the second floor terrace enjoying the view of the pool and beach and tropical breezes. The kitchen was well equipped, supplied with all the essentials, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, etc. The gated complex was neat, clean and very safe with guards at the front entrance at all times and a guard at the back gate throughout the night. The management company, Lost Beach, was helpful and provided all the information to make our stay enjoyable. Jaco has many restaurants, bars and shops that are close enough to walk or a short taxi ride away. We had a great time on the beach and in the ocean but also spent a lot of time at the pool right in front of the condo, most times we had the pool to ourselves. We've vacationed in several different location but I'd have to say Costa Rica is probably the most beautiful country we've seen. Manuel Antonio National Park is a must see excursion. We booked through Lost Beach and our guide Marco was the BEST. His guided tour from the time we settled into his van was informative and very interesting, showing us everything the park had to offer - monkeys, sloths, frogs, birds, and much MORE! It was a great vacation and we all agreed is someplace we'd vacation again and again."
