  • Amazing Family Adventure!

"We just spent 10 days in Costa Rica, one week at the lovely Paradise Found. This property is an impossible to beat gem! Although cliche, the pictures do not do it justice. The grounds, pool and gardens are impeccably maintained and beyond beautiful. The 3 (yes 3) houses are all charming, comfortable and all bedrooms air conditioned. A short walk through the jungle path brings you to either the Tango Mar beach bar and grill and/or the beach. It is BEAUTIFUL! the waves can be in them in the morning. The house is the perfect launching place to discover the Nicoya Peninsula, but you may not want to leave. The pool is amazing. We were greeted with lovely welcome baskets and a few staples in the kitchen. Bring your own toiletries, including bar soap for the showers and shampoo/ conditioner. The property manager, Sonja was a delight to work with. She checked in with us every morning and arranged our excursions with local people. We experienced the area without any hustle bustle, lines or crowds. In fact, in this area, we had amazing privacy and were really able to immerse ourselves in local culture. We definitely recommend getting the GPS with your 4WD rental...there are no street signs. Also...once you turn onto the road to the property, it is ROUGH...don't worry, you'll get used to it.Try ziplining at Suntrails, boogie boarding, Tortuga Island, a relaxing day at Whale Bay, a massage at the house. The food at Tango Mar is good, but pricey. We enjoyed the food at Tambor Tropical alot and was much better priced. If you are ready for a fun filled, action packed, very physical and energizing yet relaxing vacation...this is your place. Don't bother looking at any other Tambor will NOT beat this place. And...the owner and other staff was extremely easy to work with and very eager to please. We would highly recommend this property and truly hope to return one day!"

  • Beautiful Place to Relax in Tambor

"This was our second 2 week trip to Tambor, Costa Rica. We were 2 couples. The weather of course was absolutely beautiful. We were 2 couples and stayed in the Casita at the back of the property beside the beautiful refreshing pool. The landscaping is breathtaking! Property owner has done a fabulous job! The beach is just a 1 minute walk from the door, we enjoyed morning or late afternoon walks on the beach when the temperature and sun were a little less hot. You can walk for miles. The homeowners were there during our stay and were extremely accommodating and helpful to provide information and assistance when asked regarding contacts for tours, best places to shop for groceries, etc. We had a car which we would recommend but not a definite necessity, as you could book local excursions in Tambor which is a 5 minute walk from the property. There is also a small grocery store located in Tambor, as well as several restaurants which are all within walking distance. If you intend to consume alcohol, we strongly suggest you purchase it at the duty free shop prior to leaving the San Jose airport, as it is a lot cheaper there. Accommodations were very clean and well kept. The casita is not equipped with air conditioning, however, all rooms are equipped with ceiling fans (including the outdoor eating area) and we found this to be sufficient (at least during the month of February). The kitchen was well equipped and had all the necessities. It was a good location to go out on day trips to Montezuma, Mal Pais and Cobano. Lots of Howler monkeys and Macaws can be seen (and heard!) around the property. The property backs onto the main road used to travel from the ferry in Paquera to Malpais, Cobano and Montezuma. The only negative feature was that sometimes vehicular traffic could be a little loud early in the morning and late at night when vehicles were passing through coming or going to catch the ferry. The annual rodeo was on in Cobano during our stay which more than likely added to the volume of traffic during our stay. After a couple of nights when we got totally relaxed and into vacation mode, we seemed to tune this out! If you're looking for a very relaxing and slower paced place to stay away from the busier populated areas such as Montezuma and Malpais, this is the perfect spot! We will definitely be returning!"

  • Tambor beach house

"We had an awesome time in this house!! We were a group of 10 people and we were all comfortable all 10 of us :)! The beach is close to the house.... We had the baby monitor on and we could hear it from the beach. The water was so warm and tranquil that it was almost as if it was being in on a pool. There were enough beds and futons so everyone had a bed! The sunsets were out of this world! And at night a bonfire were the best looking at the stars it was amazing the amount of stars you could see :))))). I really love my trip to tambor. There was a store near by to buy everything you need it to cook. The vegetation is incredible. We saw monkeys in the backyard, it was just amazing :)))"

  • Costa Rica Vacation

"Tambor, Costa Rica is a great place for a vacation. This villa is attractively maintained and in a good location to base day trips from. The landscaping is beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and outdoor areas. We did our adventuring in the mornings then spent the afternoons in the pool or shade just chilling out and watching the colorful scarlet macaws flying above the golf course. Best part of our trip was renting kayaks at Curu and paddling out to Tortuga Island. There is also a place next to the Pochote River that rents kayaks. Would definitely go back to this place!"

Tambor Travel Tips

Tambor Beach Rentals on Whale Bay

Cliffs rising above the sea, which is ringed by sandy beaches and Tambor beach rentals, await you in Costa Rica. Tambor is nestled in Puntarenas Province on the Pacific Ocean on a horseshoe-shaped bay. The bay is named Bahia Ballena or Whale Bay because the whales used to visit during the drier seasons. Unfortunately, the whales hardly ever come into the bay, so your vacations in Costa Rica might require a boat trip if you want to see these magnificent creatures. The area is filled with Tambor resorts to welcome guests onto the Nicoya Peninsula.

Tambor Resorts in a Biological Reserve

The Nicoya Peninsula is considered the biological corridor of Costa Rica due to the ecological biodiversity found around Tambor resorts. On the northern side of the bay, a few minutes from Tambor beach rentals, is the Curu Wildlife Reserve. The reserve protects the wildlife of Costa Rica such as the various species of birds, reptiles, and sea turtles. Your vacations in Costa Rica can be spent roaming the Islas Tortugas, a paradise reached by boat from Tambor. It is one of the only tropical islands of the area not overly crowded by tourists.

Vacations in Costa Rica with Palm Tree Lanes

A few of the Tambor resorts are right on the beach, so you will not require a car. However, you may want a car to explore other beaches and nature reserves. The sand on the Tambor Beach is gray due to a high volcanic activity in the past. The beach of Tambor is lined with almendro and palm trees. Vacations in Costa Rica can be filled with volleyball, soccer, surfing, or water sports all available along the beach.

Tambor Beach Rentals Offer Hidden Pools for Swimming

If you are on a romantic holiday, take the time for beach walks from Tambor beach rentals. From the pier on the southern tip of Tambor, you can walk along the beach and up rocky paths to Cocalitos Beach. As you continue your walk, you will find El Chorro waterfall which empties into the ocean. In this area, there is a rocky pool filled with warm clear water for bathing in.
