  • Idyllic Spot for Family Vacation

"My husband and I couldn't have been any happier with our choice to secure Villa Mayana for our 1-week family vacation in August ‘14. Not only was it an idyllic spot for a restful yet adventurous week, but we also chose this home for the location of our intimate, family-only wedding. All 15 (11 adults & 4 kids, 2-12) fit very comfortably between both wings of the house and had an unreal week. I'll start by saying we were a bit nervous picking a place we had not seen first for the spot of our wedding, but the photos really do a great job depicting reality-in fact, I don't think they do it justice! We were fortunate to see the property during our 1 planning trip in May and were blown away. We were also a bit nervous about the in-country flights and chose to do 1-way driving and 1-way flying during our initial visit. We think flying to/from Quepos is the way to go! Ana, the house manager, who also doubled as our wedding planner, was nothing short of amazing. She planned all of our activities from zip-lining to white-water rafting to the hike around the private reserve, in addition to coordinating both a masseuse and a yoga instructor to come to the house. She connected us with Citrus for our rehearsal dinner and Bamboo Taco Truck for a beach day with tacos! She was always available to us-both before and while we were there. Ana was incredibly resourceful and organized when it came to the wedding. Message me if you want a full planning review. Roberto, the chef, was so accommodating when it came to different diets and food requests. Every meal was delicious! He's got a great personality and we really felt like he was part of the group by the end of the week. Adolfo, Roberto's assistant, was wonderfully hospitable. There is an awesomely oversized wood table, which allowed the entire family to eat together for every meal. This was one of our favorite things about the house. Nelson, the gardener who doubled as our hiking guide, was so helpful the entire week both around the house in the rare case something needed to be fixed and during the wedding day. He was super patient with us during the hike too! The cleaning staff was on point and always had a friendly smile around. We echo the prior reviews-this will be a dream vacation. We feel lucky the owner, Rick, built this stunning property and opened it up to us for such an important time in our lives. We would not have changed a thing-it was stress-free and perfect! Happy to be contacted with questions."

  • Much more than just a "Casita": wonderful hosts, outstanding home

"My wife an I enjoyed Semana Santa 2015 in La Casita. The place description is very accurate but you may need to be a novelist to transmit with words what the place and the hosts Joyce and Chan really make you feel. The property and The Casita are a piece of art, so much welcoming. Joyce and Chan had taken care of every detail but specially the gardens full of Heliconias and all kinds of greens and colorful plants. Their gardener Gilberth is very smart and polite, easily recognizes every plant variety and kindly offers you to take home any "child" plant you like. Maria the maid cooks "gallo pinto" and fresh fruits for you every day. The drive up is only 300 ft, easy for any small or mid-size SUV or pick-up truck when it is dry, although you may need 4x4 if wet. It was a great "home-base" for us to enjoy the near-by Playa Uvita (Whale tale), Playa Ballena Beach Club Villa Leonor and Ojochal fine restaurants, we even took a quick 1-hr drive to Sierpe and enjoy an afternoon river boat tour. Come over and discover more on your own."

  • Stunning, Stunning, Stunning Private Retreat

"If you're looking for privacy, with a stunning view, beautiful accommodations and easy access to nearby amenities, this is the place for you. My husband and I traveled to Lattice House for a week's stay with our teenage son and a friend of his. We arrived to a lovely meal prepared by Alexandra. We were also greeted by Ana, the uber competent property manager. Any requests for assistance on excursions or questions about the house were handled by her promptly and cheerfully. The house and view were even better than pictured in the listing. The main living area has a very open feel, with no screens and because of the lovely light breezes, we were never once bothered by biting bugs. I was very concerned about this because I am usually the target of "no-seeum" bugs while on tropical vacations. No need to worry about that here. The first day, we walked to the waterfall on the property.... and we all work out quite a bit...it still took some effort to get there and back but it was worth it. We could not get enough of the pool with the truly amazing views. I also spent some quality time in the soak tub off the master bedroom at sunset, which I highly recommend. I made a sound recording of the waves crashing and the jungle noises so I can always remember the experience. It was so relaxing after a day of...relaxing. I stay at a lot of very fine VRBO homes for vacation and have had great experiences. What put this one over the top for me was how we could have such privacy in a beautiful, popular location and have someone like Ana who knows all the ins and outs of the area to assist with anything you need. Booking the property with Patricia, the owner was a breeze and we got our deposit back immediately upon our arrival home. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home, Patricia. You have outstanding taste in vacation homes! I highly recommend this property to people who want to experience the unspoiled beauty of the Costa Rican coast. We will be back!"
