  • Chilling in the Jungle!!

"The house is fabulous, with wonderful inside/outside flow. Lots of windows and glass doors allows for easy viewing of the surrounding greenery. Decks are very inviting and covered, so you can sit out during the rain. Pool is more functional than it looks in pictures and the back drop of plants and waterfall is gorgeous. Tons of fans, both inside and out, keep the air moving. Super well equipped. Binders with info on the area. All makes this place very homey and comfortable, while feeling private and safe. The road up to the house is a classic 4x4 road and the driveway quite steep. But it is concrete and very doable. Walking the road was our daily, private jungle hike. Saw all kinds of animals. Did not see any snakes, but made sure to stay open roads/trails! Uvita is a great location to spend time and have a more "authentic" experience of Costa Rica. It is right between the central tourist areas to the north and the remoteness of the Osa. Very good amenities such as grocery stores and restaurants. And the jungle pretty much goes from the mountains to the beach, except in town. Which translates to wildlife everywhere. The beaches around Uvita are great for body surfing and boogie boarding. Not the huge waves and strong undertow of the more surfer-oriented beaches like Dominical, Playa Hermosa, Santa Teresa, etc. Our favorite was Playa Ballena that was accessed via the Marina Ballena Club. A great perk that comes with the house. Sitting where the jungle meets the beach, plenty of shade and wildlife bursting in the background. Totally awesome. Highly recommend. Wish we stayed there longer!"

  • Our own private jungle..

"We just returned from spending a month at Brooks Hacienda....The villa more than exceeded our expectations. The view of the rainforest from the deck is spectacular; each day we discovered more jungle life & sounds. Though the ocean is only slightly visible from the deck, most mornings, you can hear the ocean waves breaking on the shore... Sloths, howler & white-faced monkeys, tropical birds graced us with their presence....The kitchen is big & modern w/most of what you need to cook a great meal...We did use the a/c in the bedroom at night; but the rest of the house was comfortable during the day...Pool is inviting & very private. Wi-fi worked well. Housekeeping once a week included laundry & Terry, the house manager, was attentive..We have been coming to Manuel Antonio for the last 11 years, & this time was truly our best time. We have already begun to plan our next trip....Pura Vida!!"

  • Awesome House!

"What you see is what you get! Stunning views, and relaxing pool, nice outdoor sitting area (covered) and very comfortable bedrooms. The house has everything you need! Trina was an amazing host and resolved all small issues we had. And fast. Though he was not there, it was great dealing with Kevin as well. Roberto took some of our group members out for a tour and introduced them to the jungle, the different trees, animals and birds. Atlas, the cat, took care of the surroundings and we were happy we didn't see any snakes during our stay! The best part of the experience was to be awaken by the noise of the monkeys and the birds. I recorded a 3 min audio so I can set it up as my wake up sound track... priceless. The views were stunning! I strongly recommend this home!"

  • Amazing View of Backwash Bay

"The home is a welcome retreat: tastefully furnished, spacious, peaceful, and surrounded by large trees and wildlife like coatimundi, scarlet macaws, monkeys, lizards, large tropical birds, etc. We won't forget the day that 30 racoons crossed the back lawn right in front of us. You wake each morning to sounds of Howler monkeys calling from the trees, birds, and the relaxing sounds of nature against the backdrop of crashing waves. You can feed fruits to the visiting Capuchin monkeys in the backyard. You can paddle straight out to Backwash Bay from the properties path down to the bay. And you can go deep-sea fishing along Cabo Matapalo and catch mahimahi, mackerel, tuna, snapper, etc. A fish monger can also sell you fish from his moped each day if you like. There were no mosquitos here - but beware of the noseeums at dawn and dusk on the beaches (their bites itch 100x's more than mosquitos). Our family with young children felt totally safe in the home during the entire stay. Our children played with the caretaker's son most days, as well as with neighborhood children. No one in our family got sick from drinking the tap water, ice or food during our entire stay. One warning is that the power goes out most nights so have your laptops, cell phones charged up before you go to sleep. And lights in the home are dim in the evenings - so plan accordingly. And be aware that there will be some days of cold showers. We appreciated the daily housekeeping which kept things looking neat and tidy. My only suggestion is that the kitchen be stocked with paper towels, salt, and pepper. You can obtain a shopping list for the grocery store in Puerto Jimenez prior to your arrival so that you know what to buy before heading out on the 45-minute drive to Cabo Matapalo (because the road is quite bumpy, you want to stock up on as much food as possible so that you don't need to drive back to PJ too often)."
