  • Absolutely Delightful

"My wife and I stayed at Toucan Tango for two weeks in late December 2014. We had a better than excellent time, due in no small part to the total environment of Toucan Tango. The attributes are evident from the photos: exquisite view over the rainforest canopy to the ocean, fantastic pool, a lovely home that is fully appointed and furnished. The details: if the elements of nature are not your thing.....then Toucan Tango is not for you. The howler monkeys, giant toads, and plethora of tropical birds are a symphonic backdrop for the entire evening and nighttime. Poolside kitchen is great. Even though there are a number of remarkable restaurants about 10 minutes away in Ojochal, we chose to spend most evenings cooking and dining on the patio. While I would characterize ourselves as adventurers, many days we never even got in our car, opting instead to hang out on the poolside patio and walking in the jungle surrounding the home. The patio is totally private. We were gracioiusly greeted by a neighborhood friend of the owners, who provided us with a thorough orientation. A very useful notebook for the house and region is provided by the owners. Their restaurant recommendations are spot on. The road accessing the house is a fairly rough gravel track which is steep in spots. Accordingly, the owners recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Our experience was that even when we forgot to switch our car into 4 wheel drive mode, there was no problem navigating the track. The house is very spacious. Kitchen is well appointed, and we love to cook. This place reflects great attention to aesthetic details. Great art throughout. Excellent ventilation. The BR's are all air conditioned, but we never once turned any of them on, preferring the gentle breeze provided by nature and about a dozen ceiling fans........even on the patio. The pool is one of the nicest I've experienced at a vrbo rental. Obviously, we are considering a return trip"

  • We had an amazing 3 weeks in this beautiful piece of heaven

"We stayed in this house for 3 weeks over Christmas. It was simply amazing. Lonny was fantastic to deal with and the guard Pelone was superb. He only speaks Spanish but make an effort and learn the basics of Spanish and use a translator. You are in Costa Rica and they do speak Spanish after all. We sat for a couple of nights talking and it was great we had no problems communicating. Both Lonny and Pelone made sure that we had everything we needed. We had 5 monkeys, toucans, macaws and green parrots right at the house. The pool is great and the view is simply amazing. The house is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice, it was very clean and comfortable for our family of 4. I fully intend on staying here next time we visit Costa Rica and do not hesitate recommending it, in fact, I have already recommended it to people. I just can't say enough about this property. One important note is that you need a 4x4 vehicle."

  • Great Jungle Getaway for Family

"My wife and I and 3 boys (7, 10, 12) stayed here for 11 days. We all had a blast! This house is pretty much all screen windows from floor to ceiling, so it really feels like you are sleeping outside in the jungle. The noises are incredible, especially in the early morning when the Howler monkeys, parrots, and every other jungle critter makes its presence known. The boys couldn't have been happier seeing both Howler and White Faced monkeys several times on the property, and toucans and parrots are around daily. We also saw a Tamarindo Anteater a few times. There is a nice trail through the jungle to the beach, which is absolutely fantastic. In all the days we spent on the beach, we probably saw 10 people total. Playa Arco, which is accessible via a short trail from the beach out front is without question the most amazing beach I've ever been on. Groceries and a nice assortment of really good restaurants are a short distance away in either direction. David and Natalia were very helpful in setting up a activities for us, and were super responsive and quick to lend a hand when we had questions, which is not something you find at many VRBOs. The boys also fell in love with "Flacco" their yellow lab that led us to the beach daily and kept us company. Give him some water and attention and he will take you where you need to go. The boys cried the morning we left so it was obviously very special for them. If you are wanting to get away from the resorts and crowds and have a true CR experience, I don't think you can go wrong here."

  • Great location and experience

"Had a great holiday vacation. Very nice condo with easy beach access. Just far enough away from the in-town New Years Eve craziness, but close enough to walk to dinner. Gary was very helpful in planning our activities too."
