  • vacation bliss on the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica

"After much searching and multiple comparisons, our family chose Las Caracolas as our vacation "base camp." Upon our arrival, we were graciously welcomed by Melissa (caretaker) and the dogs Blackie and Lucky. The property was neat and meticulously clean. The house itself is nicely laid out with excellent air flow to keep us cool. My favorite aspect of the house was the pass-through bar from the kitchen to the beautiful outdoor table. The house is made of teak branches, which captured my imagination. The home was very comfortable for our family of four (with children ages 10 and 8). The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything I needed to cook meals. Every evening finished with a relaxing shower and restful sleep in the comfortable beds. We made good use of the bicycles and sea kayaks provided by the owners. The property also includes a secluded beach with hamoks for relaxing and tables for enjoying a meal at the waterfront. We spent many mornings mesmerized by sunrises over the water, and watching the fishermen go out on their daily rounds. While staying on the property would have been enough, Las Caracolas is within close walking distance to several wonderful restaurants (our personal favorite was Cafe Coyote), a fabulous bakery, tour guides (check out Solo Bueno Tours), and beautiful natural scenery (check out cemetery island, and Cabo Blanco National Preserve) as well as countless secluded beaches an waterfalls. Biodiversity is unparalleled. The property is also close to two small markets which had everything I needed. Another attraction is the pacific beaches (among the most pristine beautiful in the world) just a short drive away. Montezuma is close and a nice small town with bank machines, a larger market and lots of tourist attractions. Although we read many great reviews of the property with great anticipation, our expectations were pleasantly exceeded by the beautiful home and the gracious hospitality offered by Melissa. She addressed all if our questions and made sure all of our needs were met. I speak as much Spanish as 2 years of high school Spanish would allow, and wad able to communicate effectively with Melissa, and find what we neded around town. The dogs adopted us and kept a vigilant eye on us while we were there. I would highly recommend Las Caracolas for your Costa Rica get-away. I can tell you we will return to Costa Rica, and Las Caracolas will be part of our plans. Cabuya is a wonderful community."

"The property is beautiful and very convenient to the Beach Club pool (across the street), the golf course, the hotel, the marina and the shops. I was able to take a short walk in the morning to the bakery for coffee and pastry. My condo was lovely. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and entertaining essentials. I was there with family in another part of the resort (their Vista Bahia condo was excellent also) and was staying by myself. I felt totally secure at all times. The attendants at the gate were very nice but also very thorough in making sure you belonged on the property. My condo had everything I needed for an incredible vacation. All the HRG staff were very helpful and kind. I definitely would come back."

  • Simply Amazing!

"INCREDIBLE VILLA! I would be remiss to not first mention the greatest aspect of this villa, the VIEW! The pictures simply cannot do justice to the view you will see from each floor of this villa. The villa overlooks Manuel Antonio National park which includes the an amazing ocean view. It is breathtaking, awe inspiring and truly something you can hardly believe you’re looking at. We stayed at Villa Manuel Antonio for the first week of April and everyday since our return home my family wakes up wishing we were there. The villa is very spacious, clean, and perfect for large and small groups. We stayed with a group of 25 people including 7 children. The main house and two of the condos below fit us perfectly. The Villa is perfectly located with plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The beach, national park, and Quepos are a short taxi drive away. If you plan to walk to the beach it’s about a 15-20 minute hike, but with the great views and beautiful area, it’s worth the walk. A couple from our group spotted a sloth scaling a wall on their hike and was able to stand just a few feet from it. The villa also has a nice pool and comfortable air-conditioned rooms. The daily maid and laundry service are definitely a bonus if you packed light. Lorenzo, the owner, is a larger than life character. His hospitality, charm and service were better than we could have imagined. He always has a smile on his face and a funny story to tell. Not only did he arrange for our transportation to pick us up from the airport, but he also helped us plan our day trips, buy groceries, and answered all of our random questions. On top of all that, he helped us through the whole process of planning our wedding (held on the property), from the catering, to the music, to taking great pictures for us during our wedding! To add to our great vacation were the monkeys we saw at the villa every morning…they were truly unforgettable. You’ll be able to see them mainly in the mornings and evenings when is not so hot. They come close to you and you can watch them play around the patio. My only advice would be make sure you close the front door because monkeys love to swoop in and take unattended fruit (which is amazing too by the way!). I highly recommend Lorenzo’s villa to anyone that is looking for a comfortable, family friendly place, and wants to just relax and have a good time!"

"This is a beautiful property with stunning vistas. You can see a portion of the Pacific Ocean, but you can clearly hear the soothing roar of the waves. It's peaceful, clean, well appointed. It is remote. Be prepared for isolation and privacy. If you seek entertainment, you need to bring it with you, as there is no TV. It's helpful to download movies on a tablet, which was great fun to sit on the upper deck at night and have your own outdoor movie theater! It is open, so you will encounter nature in the form of birds, moths, a toad, a few ants, but nothing problematic. Plenty of hot water, a gas stove, clean linens and the washer/dryer was a nice option. Nicely situated for sightseeing around the area. And the restaurants in Ojochal are phenominal. The caretaker and family are great. The price was very fair for this property. A relaxing, "get away from it all" and unplug type of locale."
