  • Magical experience in the OSA with our kids

"We had the most magical week at Casa Dos Rios. The wildlife was abundant (we saw sloths, all four types of monkeys, scarlet macaws, iguanas, lizards, frogs, a huge variety of birds) without even having to leave the yard. The house is very comfortable and the solar power and well water worked perfectly. Our kids (6, 8, and 9) all enjoyed exploring the nearby rivers and waterfalls, hunting for crabs and fish in the tide pools, and swimming in the water. All the people we met were incredibly friendly and helpful. Activities we greatly enjoyed included a waterfall hike with a local biologist, a whale watching trip (in which we saw humpback whales and dolphins), and snorkeling. The kids also took surf lessons with "Pollo" who lives next door and they LOVED it. It does take a day or two to get used to the place, because it is humid and we initially worried about safety for the kids. By day two though, our kids were roaming free, exploring the grounds, swimming in the ocean, talking with local kids they met, and having the time of their lives. Insects were never a problem, although we didn't have as much wind as we would have hoped, so it was hot! Definitely recommend the food at Martina's which is a 3 minute walk from the house (although the staff there weren't the friendliest). We would have stayed another week (or 2, or 3, or 4...) if we could have, and would definitely come back to this area and to this house. Owners were very easy to work with, provided lots of great information, and used a local manager who was very helpful as well. Thanks for an unbelievable week of adventures and getting back to what really matters! Pura Vida!"

  • Gorgeous view, amazing host

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Cielo for 3 days during our recent stay in Costa Rica, and agreed that this was the highlight of our trip. Veronica was wonderful in helping us plan for the trip (things to do, items to bring, driving directions). The property was clean, beds were comfortable, and the house had every little thing you may need during your getaway (from kitchen stuff and wine glasses to binoculars and board games). The best things about Casa Cielo were 1- gorgeous view (which also can be enjoyed from the bath tub), 2 - tropical wildlife (butterflies, jays, flycatchers, and even a couple of toucans came to visit us), and 3 - proximity to various activities in Monteverde/Santa Elena. We'd recommend this place over any of the hotels in the area. Truly a piece of paradise."

  • Tranquil and Relaxing

"We stayed at Las Rocas for two weeks with our 3 year old son and absolutely loved it. It is very private, lush, and beautiful. I loved listening to rain hit the roof at night (it was the rainy season) and to the waves crash against the rocks all day. The property is pretty expansive, and our son had no trouble entertaining himself on the grounds. There is a gravel driveway large enough to kick the soccer ball around or play Frisbee, two hammocks to swing on, lava rock, rivers, and beaches to explore, and a large rock formation on the property where we would see how many iguanas we could find (seven at once was our record). The wildlife variety did not disappoint, yet it felt miraculously bug-free given the nightly rains. They house itself is very charming, and has everything you need. It was incredibly peaceful, and just being there is by far my best memory of Costa Rica. I also want to put in a good word for the local property manager Leanne who was beyond warm, welcoming, and helpful."
