"Wonderful house, just as described, 16 of us stayed here and we had a ball. Ronald, Bernie & Macha were wonderful. Macha would escort us to the beach and then head back home. My kids thought it was amazing how Ronald would go fishing without a fishing pole and come back with fish, which he shared with us. The kitchen had everything you could ask for. The only draw back was the WIFI- need to add wifi extender to the two outer cabinas and tv's to the bedrooms like the size in the familyroom and a larger one for the family room. We went . Ziplinen arranged by Estevan a tourism guide recommended by Ronald. There is a restaurant just as you enter the street that the house is located , It's very reasonable and good. There is also a giant supermarket less than 5 minutes away, it's like BJ's or Costco. I am looking forward to going back and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. The kids all 9 of them ages 3-15 had a ball, between the beach and the pool they were in heaven."

  • Gorgeous views, spacious and wonderful service!

"Casa Luz is situated overlooking your own personal jungle! Every room has a view better than the next! We spotted a sloth, toucans and a monkey in the trees and enjoyed a symphony of birds every morning on the deck. Our boys, 13 and 16, loved the pool and all of the adventure activities Natalia arranged for us (Catamaran, Mangroves, Ziplining to name a few). We had a wonderful meal prepared for us the first night (for the same price as a meal in town) and ate leftovers much of the week. There is a little store just outside your driveway gates for the basics and many tours provide a typical Costa Rican meal. We enjoyed El Avion and Victoria's for dinner, but there are many choices we weren't able to visit this time. We would strongly suggest renting a car with a GPS (programmed for Costa Rica). We drove and navigated our way to many places quite easily, despite some roads being quite bumpy. While many people did walk to restaurants, etc. from this home--it was at least 1/2-3/4 mile to the main road with no shoulder. Locals seemed very accustomed to this, but we were happy to have a car. Take the time to visit places off the beaten path-- our visit to RainMaker was one of our favorite days. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our home and Manuel Antonio. It isn't fancy or brand new, but there is definite pride in ownership and we had everything we needed for our stay. The people, especially Natalia, were gracious and accommodating and truly lived up to the motto--Pura Vida!!!"

  • A Completely Relaxing Couple of Weeks

"As others here and in travel guides have indicated, Sierpe is a quiet town at the edge of a patchwork of palm plantations: the jumping off point for river tours, fishing and junkets to Drake’s Bay. Based largely on the comments from fellow reviewers, we had the pleasure of booking 2 weeks through our hosts, Morton and Mary Ann. The house lies several hundred metres from the Sierpe town square, a market and not far from a small row of hotels, tour operator offices and family-style restaurants serving typical tico fare. Morton undertook major renovations a number of years ago and keeps it in good shape. The floor plan is open with ample kitchen, dining, living room, and office that are all contiguous. It easily accommodated 5 of us with a nice balance of social space and room for privacy. Morton has also installed air conditioning. This was definitely a luxury and welcome respite from the heat and humidity. We had fine weather and spent most of our time lounging, reading and hanging out on the covered patio: retreating into the cool of the house after dark when the mosquitos came out. The patio overlooks the Sierpe river is a great place to watch birds, iguanas and other wildlife including crocodiles drifting in the current downstream. Morton is a terrific and gracious host. He arrived right after New Year’s, staying in his other house across town (2 minutes away) and would pop round for a beer and a chat or to see if we needed anything. Sonya, a neighbour who helps out with the house, is also a delight. She stopped by from time to time to check in and surprised us by sharing some of her homemade desserts. Sonya’s son runs river cruises and fishing trips and we enjoyed an evening wildlife outing on the water with him. In all, Sierpe may not have much going on compared to the hustle and bustle and party scene in Jaco. However, staying at Morton’s house was the perfect choice for us: a spacious house, a warm and congenial community, and laid back. There were plenty of opportunities to traipse about the area, head up the coast or out to Corcovado, Drake’s Bay, the mangrove swamps along the river, or to chill out on the patio and do nothing at all. Just what we were looking for!"
