  • Muy Tranquillo!

"We spent 5 nights at the Pelican House at the beginning of the green season. Almost every day we had a little rain and lots at night. It was nice as the rain helped to cool things down. We of course had plenty of sun! We loved the design of the house and really enjoyed the fans throughout as well as the indoor/outdoor hammocks. The house has an outdoor shower, which was fantastic (someone wrote in the house book to take two showers a day), I agree…very refreshing. Rafa, the caretaker was an amazing host. He showed us how to cook with yucca, cleaned pineapple and coconut for us. He does not speak English, however is a great communicator (I brought along a Spanish/English dictionary). It was so neat to be fully immersed in Spanish. Once you get to the beach, which is about a 5 minute walk from the house, hang a left, cross over little river and head down beach for about 25 minutes to the Pearl of the Osa. Nice little restaurant with great service. Oh by the way on the path to the beach we also saw a family of about 10-12 squirrel monkeys. Puerto Jimenez is about 25-30 minutes from the house and the BM grocery has everything you might need…you will even get a good laugh when you mutilate your Espanola? Go to Marisqueria on the beach and have a beer and the ceviche…..awesome! While at the Pelican House went on the Fincakobo chocolate tour and had a great snack at the end (bananas and chocolate)….be aware that it is a ways outside of town and if you need a taxi it is about $80. We also took a dolphin tour (Changing Tides with Maryann)……don’t worry captain is Tino and not Gilligan?…you will get home. We were able to swim with the dolphins (spinner) and took a tour of an animal rescue with Sarah and Carol, they were great hosts and we are thankful there are people in the world like them. Advice: Too much to do, go back often……we did not get to see Carate or Matapalo, which we heard was beautiful. Buy lots of water at the store and bring multiple bottles of sun tan lotion and bug spray. Sleep in the hammocks…..turn fan on outside on the desk and relax with cold beer or coffee in the morning? There is no outdoor grill…so be prepared to cook inside. Allison and Jim the house was beautiful and the breeze and fans were a much needed relief after coming down from Sierpe Thanks! can’t wait to come back."

  • wonderful jungle getaway!

"We spent two week's in Michelle's beautiful house and really enjoyed it. We loved the gardens, the terraces, the great kitchen, the huge upstairs bedroom, the outdoor showers, and the overall Spanish feel of the house. The almost daily titi monkey visits to the banana trees really added to the experience! The beach was a minute away and it was lovely to swim in the "infinity" river pool overlooking the gulf. Melanie and Kim were kind, helpful, and fun hosts and we felt very taken care of during our stay. Thank you also to Maru for her great housekeeping. We will be back!"

  • Best part of our trip

"My wife and I spent a week here during our honeymoon in April 2014 - it was absolutely perfect and definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The house has some of the best views in all of Costa Rica, tastefully decorated, comfortable beds, lots of space - feels like a home away from home. There are several beaches a short drive away. The property manager was very friendly and helpful - she went above & beyond to make us feel at home. I would recommend this property to anyone."

  • two life time freinds, Mike and Bob

"1st Costa Rica Trip for Bob and I and it met all of our expectations the owner Eileen was such a big help with prep that we actually went on are own without the extra costs of tour guide add on costs. The reviews were accurate and the accomadations were excellent. We had such a great time that we changed our travel plans and stayed in the rain forest (rental car) and drove through the country. The Sky Trek zip line at Arenal Volcano is a must, we also entered the public access and enjoyed the hot springs at no cost. The food was out of this world everywhere in the country, but agree with Eillen on her Green Room in Jaco, get the special, salid with Tuna steak on top. Very special to all of the Day Star Employee's especially Eric at the Gate, Anthony our boat captain and first class crew, we made an under water movie of a sailfish that Bob caught one of many fish, and Eileen for all the information that really was the key to our whole experience. we also got special tickets for a return trip that is in the future. Big Thanks Mike"
