  • Magical Place!

"This was our families first visit to Costa Rica and it did not disappoint! Stephanie and John were most gracious hosts, beginning well before we arrived, arranging transportation and answering numerous questions. The condo was lovely, especially the spectacular views from the penthouse...lush green mountains with hovering clouds on one side, beautiful beach with spectacular sunsets on the other. And it was well equipped, making it perfect for our family. We enjoyed many outings including Rainmaker Park and Manual Antonio but also enjoyed the beautiful pool and beach and the ability to have some down time. Stephanie and John left shopping and dining recommendations, which was so helpful to navigate the many choices. We spent some time in town and also took in some local surfing in nearby Playa Hermosa. Wonderful, vacation with many great memories, and the thoughtfulness and care of Stephanie and John certainly added to that!"

  • Idyllic Spot for Family Vacation

"My husband and I couldn't have been any happier with our choice to secure Villa Mayana for our 1-week family vacation in August ‘14. Not only was it an idyllic spot for a restful yet adventurous week, but we also chose this home for the location of our intimate, family-only wedding. All 15 (11 adults & 4 kids, 2-12) fit very comfortably between both wings of the house and had an unreal week. I'll start by saying we were a bit nervous picking a place we had not seen first for the spot of our wedding, but the photos really do a great job depicting reality-in fact, I don't think they do it justice! We were fortunate to see the property during our 1 planning trip in May and were blown away. We were also a bit nervous about the in-country flights and chose to do 1-way driving and 1-way flying during our initial visit. We think flying to/from Quepos is the way to go! Ana, the house manager, who also doubled as our wedding planner, was nothing short of amazing. She planned all of our activities from zip-lining to white-water rafting to the hike around the private reserve, in addition to coordinating both a masseuse and a yoga instructor to come to the house. She connected us with Citrus for our rehearsal dinner and Bamboo Taco Truck for a beach day with tacos! She was always available to us-both before and while we were there. Ana was incredibly resourceful and organized when it came to the wedding. Message me if you want a full planning review. Roberto, the chef, was so accommodating when it came to different diets and food requests. Every meal was delicious! He's got a great personality and we really felt like he was part of the group by the end of the week. Adolfo, Roberto's assistant, was wonderfully hospitable. There is an awesomely oversized wood table, which allowed the entire family to eat together for every meal. This was one of our favorite things about the house. Nelson, the gardener who doubled as our hiking guide, was so helpful the entire week both around the house in the rare case something needed to be fixed and during the wedding day. He was super patient with us during the hike too! The cleaning staff was on point and always had a friendly smile around. We echo the prior reviews-this will be a dream vacation. We feel lucky the owner, Rick, built this stunning property and opened it up to us for such an important time in our lives. We would not have changed a thing-it was stress-free and perfect! Happy to be contacted with questions."

  • Breathtaking Uvita Views

"The Casita was just what we'd hoped it would be. The mountain side view of the pacific was outstanding and the Uvita location was a perfect home base to visit many local beaches (Whale's tail), and for day trips south to the Sierpe (mangrove tour), north to Manuel Antonio National Park and north to Nauyaca Waterfall (horse back tour). Mix in relaxing with our morning cup of coffee on the deck watching the hummingbirds feeding while being serenaded by Toucan and Howler Monkey calls from the valley below was....well.....simply paradise. After a couple of days, Casita Kristina Maria truly felt like our home. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful property with us."

  • No closer place to heaven than this!

"We spent 9 days here with our 7- and 10-year-old daughters and my 73-year-old mother, and everyone had the time of their lives. First of all, the house was amazing. The space was set up so well to give everyone their own space, and still feel so open to the surrounding wonders. We were easily able to close up the house when the rain got extreme, and open it back up to rejoin the jungle whenever we wanted. The grounds surrounding the house were a dream. Front yard is jungle, backyard is beach. The tide pools just up the beach kept us busy at low tide for 2 straight days, while we wandered around and checked out all the life down there. We made several trips down to Playa Pan Dulce to swim in the warm water and to let our girls boogie board. The hike to the King Louie waterfall was leisurely and beautiful, and my girls will remember swimming at the base of that fall forever. Coming back during drizzles to dip in the pool and sip cocktails was wonderful! I could never have imagined how plentiful the wildlife would be. We saw several kinds of monkey every day right around the house, often watching the Capuchins right on the ground as they foraged within feet of us. Amazing birds were everywhere, with toucans and macaws turning up regularly. We loved Matapalo so much and found so much to do there that we only ventured out twice – once for a zip-line adventure and once to get out on Golfo Dulce. We did Bosque Mar for the zip-lining, and they were really great – 2 very personable and informative guides and a great experience, even for my 73-year-old mother. The Dolphin and Snorkel Tour was a definite highlight, with more dolphins on display than I could have fathomed, and the guide, Josh, was fantastic. The snorkeling wasn’t great due to the time of year we were there, but everything else about the day more than made up for it. My 10-year-old is still talking about how she swam in the ocean under a waterfall next to a tropical fjord! Lady’s cooking was fantastic, and the kindness of her family added much to our experience. We were here during the "Green Season" and were prepared to be housebound at points due to weather, but we had only one day where we had rain for more than a couple of consecutive hours. The temperatures were great, and we were able to get out for everything we wanted to do. If you are considering a trip to the Osa – and you should be! – you couldn’t choose a better home base than this! Thank you, Lara!"
