  • This place is absolutely gorgeous.

"The infinity pool is even better than in the pictures, with generous lounge chairs, an excellent grill, large deck & dining table. The under cover kitchen/living area is well laid out with many places to enjoy the expansive view of the sea & sound of the surf. Palm trees & flowers abound & if relaxing in the hammock here this doesn’t feel like paradise, I don’t know what does. Even better, guests here are cared for with the most expertise I have ever encountered. Javier can fix you up with all the adventures you desire, at reasonable prices & to fit your schedule. He seems to know everyone. We opted for snorkeling at Isla Tortuga, zip-lining at Montezuma & ATV exploration. I recommend all three. He can get you fresh seafood off the boat, recommend & take you to restaurants in St. Teresa, & ensure that minor repairs get made almost immediately. He can set up a beautiful dinner for you cooked at your house, & we highly recommend this treat. His local knowledge & expertise turned our nice week into a fantastic one. If you are considering this rental, double check that he will be available during your visit. I gave this five stars because of how much I enjoyed my stay. We're a family of 6 adults & recognize that this beautiful place might not be for everyone. The bedrooms are simply furnished in a sparse beach style & the two smaller ones are in a separate house with no view. Steep drop offs make this unsuitable for those with small children. Internet access works for only two devices at time, so the wifi happy must take turns. The living area is all outdoors, & you sometimes share your space with various other life forms. A dishwasher would have helped that situation. The sea breezes do fail & the overhead fans aren’t always up to the job, especially during midday. A few simple room fans would have made a world of difference. Note that the this is one of many private homes on the grounds of a hotel that is not so friendly. We were prohibited from using their poorly kept & seldom used tennis courts, even when we offered to pay & book our use in advance. Guests in private homes also cannot use or rent the hammocks on the beach, visit the hotel’s lookout point, etc. Our response was to not eat or drink at the hotel either. I’ve stayed at more lavish places & been on trips with far more planned entertainment. Yet this gorgeous place, with its amply privacy, time to relax & its many local adventures, provided a vacation that left me relaxed, refreshed & smiling"

  • Worth it

"The penthouse is really big. Great for having friends over. We had everything we needed. The top balcony was the best part. We watched the best sunrise and sunset. The ocean breeze was nice and cold A/C option as well. No pets allowed if you were planning on bringing one. Stephanie and John were very friendly. They made sure we were all set. I recommend this condo 100%."

  • Beautiful retreat, excellent value

"My family of four were staying in Playa Grande when we decided we wanted to see a different part of the Pacific Coast. We found this place and contacted the owners who responded quickly. Happily the house was available and we stayed there the next night! Jeff and Katherine were so kind to have the place ready on such short notice. Their directions were clear and accurate and we found it quite easily. The grounds are like a botanical garden, there are so many fruit trees and beautiful flowers. The pool was small but perfect for our needs. The entire property is like a mini-resort without all the noisy people. The house was much more stylish than most vacation rental places and we settled in easily. We were only there for two nights so we didn't end up cooking there, but it looked like they had everything one would need. The rooms all had A/C, which was quite welcome because the entire west coast was in a bit of a heat wave when we were there. The house was immaculately clean and had a lovely spice smell. We would be happy to stay there again (for a longer time, hopefully) but visitors should be aware that it's a good 10-15 minute walk to the ocean. On the plus side, it's just a 5-10 minute walk to two good markets and two very good restaurants. Jeff and Katherine helped set up a day tour to Isla Tortuga and I know there are many other activities they can help set up. We loved our visit to Casa Tranquilo!"

  • Doesn't get any better...

"First rate all the way around. I highly recommend this dream home to anyone looking for the best possible Costa Rica vacation experience. The home is incredibly beautiful and crafted with such taste and care in the highest quality manner. Open air tropical breeze gently moves through the home and the superb hand crafted comfortble furniture throughout the home makes for a very relaxing and beautiful environment. In my opinion it doesn't get any better than this. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Alex the owner couldn't be more warm, welcoming and helpful. All our needs were met and then some. Not to mention this gorgeous home sits on one of the most pristine pieces of land just steps from the sand of your own private cove. This place is the real deal tropical paradise dream home. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the incredible gereously sized patio that looks out onto and maximizes the breath taking views of the river, natural reserve, countless exotic trees, and the gorgeous beach and Pacific Ocean right in front of you. From the comfort of our beds, the living room, kitchen and patio we saw the best of what Costa Rica offers... Wildlife (horses, monkeys, birds, iguanas, etc) world class sunsets and we woke up and went to sleep to the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore. The house is also conveniently located just a short walk to Mary's organic farm to table restaurant (our favorite in the area). I hope you your friends and your family get to enjoy this experience as much as we did. Pura Vida."
