  • Exceptional

"Not that this property needs any more 5 star ratings but you'd be hard pressed to find a better vacation rental property than this. It is actually better in person than the pictures depicted on the VRBO website. Yves was a gracious host, available when needed but otherwise totally unobtrusive. The house is perfectly sized for 4 people (2 couples in our case) but would also be appropriate for a single couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family of 4 with older children. For those looking for a hopping nightlife or in your face daytime activities Uvita and the surrounding area may seem a little sleepy, but part of the charm of the area we found was meeting local residents and through them discovering places and activities that we would otherwise not have known about. This is an area and a house that we would love to visit again and can highly recommend."

  • Costa Rica trip - Nov / Dec 2014

"We spent just over two weeks in Costa Rica in November / December 2014, with the first week being spent driving all over the country and the second week spent relaxing at Casa Amarilla. It was a welcome break after spending so much time on the road having had only a couple of nights in each place along the way. The house itself was very spacious (considering there were only two of us) with a very comfy master bedroom and a huge kitchen / living area. The terrace that wrapped around the back of the property was incredible with the most amazing views of Pavones Bay. We spent a lot of time lazing in the hammocks watching for birds / monkeys and any number of other creatures that live in the surrounding forest. The pool area on the finca was also really nice and so private! Pilon beach was a short drive away which was beautiful and again, extremely private. It's a great place to really get away from it all. We also tried paddleboarding, surfing and horse riding so there is lots to keep you amused. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat and look forward to returning one day soon."

  • Steps away to the beach

"We loved the house. We were 2 families from Telluride, Colorado, and we rented both the main house and the cabana. The pool was awesome, the bedrooms, bathrooms and the beds were great and comfortable! The beach was steps away (literally). We read some posts about security in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa and experienced zero issues. We locked the house when we left, and put our valuables in the safe. The house has an alarm. The home is awesome and very well maintained. Every day we had gardeners, pool workers or maids, etc stop by. We walked to everything we needed. The town has 2 ATMs and an amazing bakery for breakfast. A grocery store with all you need is about a 1 minute walk from the house. We had great meals out, and they were really inexpensive. The beach, steps aways, is a huge surfing beach and has an added bonus, a bar and restaurant. if you are looking to walk to surf, to walk to the stores and restaurants, and to have a really nice house, this is it. Excellent services. If we needed anything, the owner's rep was immediately available. Que Bueno!"

  • Beautiful property - more spectacular than the pho

"My family spent 5 glorious days in this villa. We loved every part of it - from the magnificent views to the wonderful décor. Everything in the house is of a very high quality and very comfortable. Even though there is another house very close by, the design of the villa is very clever and one feels private all the time. I enjoyed getting up early in the morning and watching the sun rise and the birdlife begin. Although we did not see monkeys we heard them! Its a steep drive up - so be sure to get a 4-wheel drive - but its pretty close to Uvita and a good supermarket. We enjoyed the dinner prepared by chef Gustavo - excellent food and service and actually contracted him for another evening. I can't recommend the house high enough! We felt well looked after and when the internet was problematic had numbers we could call to help us sort it out. I can't recommend the house highly enough!"
