  • Perfect Costa Rica vacation!

"Our trip to Costa Rica was fantastic! The condo and property exceeded all of our expectations. We spent each evening in the beautiful pool just beyond the patio area of the condominium. The property is centrally located which made it very convenient for all our daily excursions (ziplining, horseback riding, sailboating, golfing, beach combing, sightseeing, etc.) and there are excellent restaurants located at Los Suenos as well as the nearby town of Jaco. It was a dream come true vacation!!"

  • Rejuvenating stay in paradise

"We stayed in Pelican house for 6 nights and could have stayed 6 weeks! The location is beyond spectacular. It feels remote and yet it is close enough to town to get groceries and have dinner (ceviche at Marisqueria Corcovado was a favorite!). The beach is almost always deserted, the water 80+ degrees and the sand incredibly soft. The house is well appointed with a comfortable bed, amazing outdoor shower, and well stocked kitchen. Rafa, the property caretaker, made our stay particularly unique and memorable. He, his wife and daughter, are incredibly warm and welcoming. We enjoyed so many laughs with him and he is truly knowledgeable about the local area, plants and wildlife. If you speak Spanish and want to go for a local hike, Rafa is an amazing guide. He has an uncanny ability to spot birds, monkeys and other critters way up in the canopy. Although he will decline any money, add it to his tip at the end as he is not otherwise paid for being a guide for the guests--we were happy to be able to support a local family, especially one we had gotten to know so well! If you can pry yourself from the hammock, explore the local dirt roads and beaches. Some of the bridges (particularly the first one coming from Puerto Jimenez) are a bit scary--the railings have been stolen and the bridge is the width of the car---but you'll get used to it and it adds to the adventure:) The surrounding area is incredible with lush jungle and beautiful farms. If you don't venture off the property, you are still guaranteed to see a ton of wildlife---I even saw a Jaguarundi while sitting on the deck--amazing! Thanks Allison for being so easy to work with and for sharing your amazing piece of paradise! We hope to return!"

  • Peaceful paradise

"My husband and I stayed in Casita Kala (next to Casa Kala) for just over a week. We were pleasantly surprised that the casita lived up to the pictures we saw on-line. Inside, the bed was super comfortable, and it was nice to have the kitchen to prepare our own meals. The bathroom is outdoors so we had to get used to visits from local land crabs (part of the experience:). It rained quite a bit while we were there (start of the rainy season) but there is a beautiful covered outdoor patio with a table and hammock so that was a real bonus. The grounds of Batik Costa Rica are very well kept and secure. There is a security guard at the front over night and cars are parked inside the gate. We felt very safe here. The walk to the beach is quite short, and playa hermosa is a quieter and cleaner version of Playa Carmen (previously Playa Santa Teresa)...it is a sandy beach (no stones) and lots of waves. The rip tide can be quite strong so those with young children would want to be extra cautious. We rented an SUV this trip which is a must have if you stay here and want to be able to do day trips and your own grocery shopping. Super Ronny 2 is where we did most of our shopping. Recommended restaurants Habanero for solid Mexican food, El Pulpo for take out pizza, and if you are willing to drive to Montezuma, Playa des los Artistas was great with the view of the ocean. The manager Dahlia was great and super accommodating to us during our stay. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job cleaning our room everyday and making it smell nice. We would absolutely go back, it is a great place to spend time if you really just want to relax and get away from it all."

  • Kick back in Playa Matapalo

"We experienced two weeks of bliss in Playa Matapalo. Owner and guide, Ron, knows Costa Rica! Where to go ,eat, swim and view this beautiful country. Steps away from your private bungalow is the pristine beach, one of the best we have ever seen. Ron has all the toys, bikes, boards and kayaks etc. Monkeys, sloths and birds are everywhere. A very reasonable experience you won't forget! Afterwards you'll say, "May I have another Slice of Paradise please?..it was that good!!"
