  • Amazing property

"My family and I stayed here for a week over the Christmas holiday as a group of 10. The house is fabulous! Very roomy and spacious, but still a comfortable and warm feeling inside. It was extremely clean, manacured and cared for. The staff were all very friendly and anxious to help us with whatever we needed or desired. Elizabeth, the owner, is truly one of the nicest people I have ever come in contact with. She helped us arrange tours, meals with a chef, and transportation. She was quick to answer any question or concern we had. We feel the service and amenities here were superior to any 5 star hotel. I'd recommend for anyone to stay here. I would again with no questions asked."

  • Great location and helpful host made our relocation to Costa Rica a joy.

"My husband and I relocated to Costa Rica for his job in July. We rented the penthouse apartment for the first month we were here to give us time to find a place to live, buy a car, and get to know the Central Valley better. The house is located in a neighborhood that is very convenient to the city center and all the tourist destinations, like the Teatro Nacional and the Gold Museum and the Jade Museum. There are a handful of good restaurants within walking distance, though most days I walked to the grocery store and bought food to cook for our meals. Don Tomas was incredibly generous with his time, making sure we had what we needed. He helped us find parking when we bought our car, introduced us to some of his friends who had a rental home available and they are now our landlords, and he even offered to walk with me to a local furniture store and introduce me to the woman from whom he buys furniture for his homes. We ended up buying our bedroom set and living room furniture from her a couple weeks later. Not only did we have a comfortable stay during our international move, which can be a hectic time, but we also made a dear friend. Last details: Romeo, Don Tomas' trusted taxi driver, is a gem. We still call him now and then when we need a ride to the airport or somewhere else I don't want to drive. He helps me with my Spanish and with learning different routes around the city. Socorro, Don Tomas' housekeeper, is a very friendly lady and keeps the place absolutely spic and span. We enjoyed our time in Barrio Otoya very much and would recommend the penthouse apartment to anyone interested in spending some time in San Jose."

  • Quite possibly the most beautiful setting I have ever seen

"We had such an amazing stay at this quaint lodge in the cloud forest. The setting is incredible with a beautiful crystal clear river just in front of the home, and a cascading waterfall creek directly to the side. I don't think there are many places like this left on the planet that are not in National Parks. The lodge is comfortable with a beautiful floor to ceiling fireplace that knocks the chill out of the air on the cool nights. The days are absolutely perfect with temperatures around 75 degrees F. There are so many amazing birds around the place, and we saw the magnificent Quetzal on 3 separate occasions. There are some great restaurants in the area ranging from $3-4 dollars a meal, all the way up to $20 at the nice eco-lodges down the road. There is an amazing waterfall just above the property if you follow the creek trail for about half a mile. There are no mosquitoes at all, so I am assuming the previous review is in regard to another property, as we found out that no ants, mosquitoes, or snakes live at this high of an elevation. It is over 7500 feet up in the mountains. This is one place that everyone should add to their "bucket list" as it is probably the most beautiful place we have ever visited!"

  • Fantastic condo, fantastic service

"My family of five (two adults, three teenagers) stayed in this condo managed by Paolo & Sara Wright. The condo is exactly as presented on the site and very, very well equipped. We had all the supplies we needed and all questions answered within minutes of phone or email contact. Paolo & Sara went above and beyond to help us get setup with great activities, including river rafting, a coffee tour and a trip to the La Paz waterfall gardens. Paolo also sent us to a fantastic little wood factory where they hand-make all the beautiful Costa Rican wood jewelry, place mats, wood chimes, etc. that you will find at souvenier shops throughout the country--and for much, much cheaper. We loved seeing how things were made and talking with the staff who make the products. The grounds of the complex are beautiful, the pool tranquil and the tennis courts just a short walk. Paolo provided directions anywhere we needed, and he even set us up with some DVDs for late evenings in. We had a great stay just outside San Jose easily accessing the amazing activities in the area. We also had a great time cooking some meals in because the kitchen and house have everything we needed. Lastly, we had great instructions on everything related to the condo because of a well-organized binder (this is not the case with some home-stay rentals). Thanks so much to Paolo & Sara for a great stay. We definitely will recommend this apartment to anyone--for so many reasons!"

Escazu Travel Tips

Expand Horizons in Escazu Vacation Rentals

So many American children are really out of touch with international culture these days. Society keeps our kids insulated and American children, more than pretty much any other first world country’s offspring, are pretty clueless when it comes to different languages and customs. If you’re planning to take another family vacation this summer or spring break, consider visiting Escazu and staying in one of the many San Jose Costa Rica beach homes and give your family an adventure that will enrich and expand their horizons!

Enjoy Escazu for a Steal

Costa Rica is great for an American family as it is very budget friendly so you can get a lot of bang for your buck. If you stay in Escazu vacation rentals and reserve your villa on, you can book a spacious, comfortable home where you can all spread out to relax. Also, when you book an Escazu vacation rental with a kitchen (as most have) you will save a lot of money on eating out. You can have a large midday meal or dinner at one of the great local restaurants while eating breakfast and snacking at home, so you’ll get exactly what you’re craving and not paying a fortune for it.

Families Love San Jose

Escazu travel is perfect for the family looking for something out of the ordinary. Escazu has many exciting activities to choose from! Rock climbing is an exciting, popular choice and will make your vacation memorable. You can also bike, hike, snorkel, scuba dive, shop, work out, kayak, fish, go horseback riding, visit the zoo, go to the movies, and enjoy luxurious, pampering treatments at the spa. There’s even a local amusement park so you can show your kids a good time but with a uniquely Latin flair. For fine dining, be sure to experience Restaurant The Muse for exquisite fine dining including chef-coddled amuse-bouche to tantalize your palate. Your family will remember its cultural awakening in memorable Escazu!
