"I am in my early 40's and well travelled (25+ countries). I am accustom to the quality and cleanliness you find in a 4 or 5 star hotel. My partner and I were very pleased to find The Romantic Casita met our expectations; and the property (grounds, pool, location, view, beach access) easily exceeded our expectations. The casita is a unit attached to the side of a larger home which is also rented out, therefore you will be sharing the grounds and pool with other guests. We expected this and had no issues/concerns/problems etc. Inside the unit we did not hear any noise/sounds from the guests in the larger house.
-fantastic view, location, pool, and beach....absolutely stunning
-gated community with armed guards
-we ordered food (pupusas) from a vendor who came by on his bike - it was a fantastic, inexpensive and a unique service....and delicious
-the food at the restaurants at the neighbouring beach (El Parmacito- ask the owners/property manager for directions) was fantastic and inexpensive eg. Breakfast (omelette) and coffee for two was $7 total. These restaurants are huts on the beach, however the food is fresh and restaurant quality. I had a lobster dinner which came with two small lobsters covered in prawns (20 +) with rice, salad, tortilla for $15.
-unit has a combination safe
-D'Arcy (owner) is excellent at responding quickly to any questions or concerns
-Roxanne (ppty mgr) comes by each morning to attend to needs
Things to keep in mind:
-WIFI signal did not work for us until the last day (on the last day the ppty mgr advised us it works if you place the wifi stick by the window....only then did it work for us).
-stairs - there are not a lot of stairs however people with disabilities will find the stairs and pathway to the pool challenging
-in a residential area therefore not within walking distance to markets, shops
-stop at the market on your way in to pick up groceries (don't forget oil, herbs, charcoal (for the BBQ) etc.
-include hand soap, hair dryer, shampoo with the rest of your toiletries
-AC is only in the bedroom
-ants- this is a tropical destination so you have to expect to have ants, geckos etc. it is part and parcel! (Note: these ants did not bite). However, I recommend more effort be made into controlling them -traps etc. and be prepared to put all food items etc away regularly.
This property was stunning and I can not wait to return to it. Highly recommended!"

"My second stay at peniscola and wont be my last.
For those of you curious.... private beach, private pool, ac, wifi, tons of places to veg out, relax, read and soak up beauty. El Zonte is a special place... a little off the beaten path but so much the better. The pictures dont do it justice..sunsets are magical.
Santos/Karen are such a pleasure and super helpful...at this point I consider them friends."

"I was there for 1 night (suppose to be more but travel plans changed) and I wish we stayed longer! I was there with 3 of my family members, all 4 of us for comfortably in one bungalow, the bungalows were clean, even the bathroom. The most amazing part is the view from the room, you are literally on the Pacific Ocean shore, clean beach, perfect for a group of about 12 people (4 bungalows on the property) to have an intimate beach getaway. I felt like we had a little island all to ourselves. It's also perfect for a Romantic getaway... It's more soothing & quite compared to noisy El Tunco. Fresh air right when you step out of your room.
The place is gated and I felt safe, especially with the help of Roberto & Gris (caretakers). They gave us everything we needed and guided us as needed. They always cared about our safety, waiting with us when we were waiting to get picked up early in the morning (still very dark). Vilma, answered every email as soon as possible and answered all questions, made sure everything is taken care of. Highly recommend this place!!!"

"I booked this place for a weekend getaway with some coworkers and we could not have been happier. The grounds are gorgeous, everything is kept in great condition, and Marina, the domestic employee, was really great. She helped prep some meals for us and was a huge hit with our friend's toddler. We spent most of our time relaxing in the grand sala and floating off the end of the dock. The water is clean and clear and cool. We didn't use the pool at all, which was essentially the same temperature as the lake - I suppose it would be nice when the weather gets hotter because it's in the shade. We had a wonderful time staying here and a hard time leaving at the end. Tip: bring bug spray... we got some nasty bites."
