"We have been to this lovely beach retreat twice now. Both times were equally as good. We really enjoy the clean beach, the truly warm local people, and the comfy private property. Great swimming pool, beautiful hammock area to read and relax. Very secure! This place is a nice change of pace from the tourist areas that we are used to. Nobody pressuring you, bothering you, just a tranquil little fishing village. We'd love to go back!"

"Lovely vacation we all are looking forward for the next one. Beautiful beach front view. super clean . We really enjoy everything . We all highly recommended to everyone who is looking for privacy. The pool and jacuzzi were great and there was a clean and working kitchen with microwave, fridge, and pantry. Overall an excellent place to stay. Truly a paradise."

  • Stunning Experience

"Vistalago is indeed a stunning lakefront property. Our party of 11 Glasswing volunteers had an amazing 5 days! This property is perfect in every way! The sleep accommodations are perfection: the rooms and linens clean and crisp, bathrooms large and bright. The grounds are lush, floral, well maintained. The pool is heated and just the perfect temperature for an evening swim when the temperature dips to the 70s. The great room is open, airy, cool in the heat of the day, and plenty room for group activities. The lake is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been: refreshing crystal clear water, both sunrise and sunset from the dock, and volcanic hot springs (what a surprise!!). We had a boat ride across the lake and the opportunity to jet ski but our favorite part of the lake was watching the sun rise over still waters with a hot coffee in hand. Since our group was so large, we hired Marina and Guadalupe to help us with cooking and cleaning. They were outstanding. They cooked authentic Salvadoran food and even arranged for a meal of fresh-fried lake fish caught that same day by Guadalupe's father! Thanks to Ricardo for making this available. We will definitely be back."

  • Loved It!

"My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Azul for a long weekend in February and absolutely loved the place! Its a huge house for 2 girlfriends on vacation with each other to stay but it was really a gorgeous house. Jeannie and her property management team were really helpful with organizing our stay and arranged for us to be picked up at the airport and driven back to the airport by a really friendly driver who didn't mind stopping by the grocery store on the way. The house is in a really lovely and impressive hillside development right across the street from the main beach in El Tunco. As the house is located up several steep hills I'd recommend you rent a car if you have a big family to wrangle as walking up the hills would probably be too much for small kids but since it was just the two of us adults, the hill actually gave us some added excercise. We felt 100% safe the entire time given there is security at the gate and personnel that patrol the neighborhood. Back to the house, its laid out perfectly for groups, has several large bedrooms great for adults and 2 bedrooms decorated more for children. The kitchen is perfect for preparing meals and has all the tools you might need. In addition, there's a lovely indoor eating space as well as a great outdoor patio with plenty of room for a group. The pool is really the piece de resistance with a stunning view of the ocean and is a great place to watch the sunset. The outdoor shower and side palapa with hammocks doesn't hurt either! In short, this place is an absolute steal with everything you'd need to accommodate a large group. If you have kids, even better as there are plenty of toys for them to play with. Next time we travel back to El Salvador we'll be sure to stay at Casa Azul. Loved it!!! Oh and there is a sweet doggie who lives on property who made us feel even safer (not that it was needed) and helped us get over missing our pets that we'd left at home. Wonderful!"

El Salvador Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to El Salvador Vacation Rentals

El Salvador's main airport is the Comalapa International Airport which is located approximately 30 miles southeast of the capital city of San Salvado. The airport is commonly referred to as simply El Salvador International Airport. The airport hosts regular daily flights from international destinations, such as Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, San Jose and Guatemala. The flight time from Los Angeles is approximately four to five hours. If your vacation home offers an airport transfer service, it is advisable to make use of this. It may be slightly more expensive than a taxi fare but at least you can be assured that you will have a speedy and hassle-free transfer. There is public transport available in El Salvador but it is not advisable for visitors to use the buses. The taxis in the cities are usually reliable enough.

Travelers to El Salvador Villas

El Salvador is the smallest of the countries in Central America. It is tucked away on the Pacific coast between Guatemala and Honduras. It is one of the lesser-known travel destinations in Central America and the ideal place for those looking for tranquility and privacy. Enjoy miles of pristine beaches easily accessible from your vacation home. The luxurious villas make you feel like royalty enjoying a slice of your own private paradise. If you enjoy long leisurely walks along the beach, surfing or swimming, this is the ideal vacation destination for you. The villas are large enough to accommodate groups of 10 people or more, so invite your friends and enjoy some tropical luxury at a relatively affordable rate. Most visitors to El Salvador are from North, Central and South America with a much smaller percentage from Europe.

Things To Do at El Salvador Beach Houses

El Salvador is becoming known as a prime surfing destination. The miles and miles of beautiful coastline and the consistent swell provide ideal surfing conditions. You can wake up each morning and walk straight onto the beach from your vacation villa. Near the main resort towns, there are designated beaches for surfing and swimming. Flags also indicate the water conditions and if there are rip currents that you need to be aware of. La Libertad is one of the most popular surfing areas.

El Salvador is a leisurely vacation destination. Most people enjoy lazing poolside or on the beach and enjoying the tropical sunshine. If you are looking for some entertainment, you can visit some of the nightspots and enjoy some of the local Latin vibe. In you are interested in the country's history, you can visit some of the war museums which detail the country's turbulent past and provide insight into the culture of Salvadorians.

Best Time of Year to Visit El Salvador

Located in Central America, El Salvador enjoys a warm tropical climate. The coastal areas are hot and humid for most of the year, and the interior highlands are moderately more temperate. Like most other Central American destinations, the rainy season is from May to October. Tropical storms do occasionally blow in from the Pacific Ocean. Travelers should be cautious about traveling during late summer as this is when the storms occur most frequently. From November through April, the trade winds dissipate their humidity over Honduras and arrive in El Salvador as hot dry winds. This often leads to a hazy atmosphere which gives the landscape a mystical feel about it. For most people, this is the preferred time of year to visit and has become the peak tourist season.
