  • Piece of Paradise

"My friends and I just spent another lovely week at Rico's house. This is the second time we've stayed there, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Rico, as always, was extremely attentive and helpful, as was his caretaker, Carlos. The house is cozy and well equipped and the gardens are lush – it is a little piece of paradise. We hope to be returning soon!"

  • Perfect Lake House

"Gabi had a private boat pick us up to take us to the house which was better than the pictures show. The rooms were spacious. The avocado tree was dropping fruit so we made guacamole. We traveled by water taxi to all of the towns around the lake and got in plenty of hiking. Spanish would help but we got by with English. The lake is high so they built boardwalks to get from the house to town. In the afternoons you had to time the lake waves to not get splashed, but if you get wet it dries fast. The locals are really friendly and we got to know all of the restaurant owners. We did the Super Bowl at Norm's Restaurant/bakery as he has satellite tv. Best as a laid back scenic vacation."

  • Great trip, family with kids

"Joyce, Just wanted to send an overdue note of thanks. My family of 6 (4 kids age range 6-10), accompanied by in-laws who hand carried their own pizza dough across the border, had an amazing time at your place on the lake. It was everything we'd hoped for and more, a genuine treat. Perhaps more than anything else, we were struck by the friendliness and warmth of the people we met, and just how relatively intact the indigenous cultures are. My 6 year old had broken her leg less than 2 weeks before our trip, and you probably aren't surprised to hear how helpful the locals were, whether it was hoisting her into a boat or just striking up conversation in the towns (no doubt we'd have missed a lot without my wife's spanish). Tim was great and I'm still grinding his coffee every morning back home. Miguel was also great, and brought his son to play soccer with ours. And of course those dogs, especially Pedro, he is one funny dog and the perfect companion when our 6 yr old had to miss things because of her broken leg. I could go on and on, but it hopefully suffices to say that the style, warmth and beautiful layout of your place was fully appreciated by our group! Thank you again, and we hope to visit again if the stars align in the future. Chicago, IL"

  • Unique house in and amazing location

"I stayed at Nathalie's house for the month of July whilst working remotely on my PhD thesis. The internet was slightly up and down but manageable for picking up email (and I think I hit a particularly bad period). That the house is slightly separated from the village makes it perfect as a retreat if you need a bit of peace and quiet. Having said that, it's still incredibly easy to get all your basic supplies or a decent meal cooked for you within Jaibalito. Nathalie's own artistic input has made this house truly unique, and coupled with the great views you can't really go wrong. Nathalie was very responsive in all our communication and although she was out of the country for most of the stay she left me in the capable hands of a particularly charming Canadian. (Colin was great, always really friendly and offering help with anything I needed - when I was sick and couldn't stomach much or face the walk to the village he arranged for two cheese toasties to be delivered to the house!). For those wanting to explore a little it's easy to jump on the boat to San Marcos or any of the other towns around the lake. If you're looking for a Backpackers scene you can get your fix over in santa cruz (30 minute walk, great 15 minute jog) - at the end of my stay I did the padi open water course here at the iguana lodge. Oli was a great instructor and I'd definitely recommend him for anyone interested in learning or needing a guide for the lake. Before your stay Nathalie sends you a booklet with loads of information about the house, village, and surrounding area (+ activities, emergency numbers, and much more). If you decide to rent Nathalie's house you will not regret it."
