  • Exceptionally gorgeous property!!! AND IT IS FOR SALE!!!

"We stayed at the Castle Casa for 1 week in March. It was so lovely, relaxing, with incredible views of the lake and lots of mature vegetation and fruit trees. Beautiful construction - gorgeous built-in huge chiminea-style fireplace - the entire house including all rockwork and stone paving was hand crafted. The home had stylish furnishings with all kitchen amenities and we could not have asked for more. It is at the end of a recently-paved road and transportation is not a problem with all the small "taxicabs" available. If you want to walk, the town of San Pedro is only 10 minutes away. We would hands-down recommend this to anyone looking for a really good quality get-away at a fair price. And the owner does want to sell it!! Good investment!!!"

  • Beautiful Family Vacation

"Our trip to Guatemala started as a trip home for our two adopted children and ended as a wonderful family vacation! We had promised them that one day we would take a trip back to their birth country. I had many reservations about the trip that was planned by my husband because of all of the negative press about the area. I was very skeptical about exposing my kids to anything that may ruin the respect they had for their birthplace. Bonnie and David, our hosts, set up complete transportation from the airport to the house. Everything went perfectly! Bonnie provides you with a great guide before you get to Guatemala that we found extremely helpful. We followed her directions for everything from transportation, to groceries and money exchange and had no issues or concerns. The boat shuttle from Panajachel to the house was perfect. I knew that I had made the right decision about staying at this house when I saw the look on my sons face as we crossed the lake to Casa Colina. It was such a beautiful place! Even with all of the hustle and bustle between airports and Panajachel, I never felt unsafe. All my earlier stress had left me as soon as I got on the shuttle and saw the beauty of the Lake and house! Upon arrival at Casa Colina, nothing could have gone any better. We traveled to several of the small towns around the lake, with each having their own flair. We enjoyed eating at several of the local restaurants recommended by Bonnie and David, and looked forward to coming back to a beautiful house at the end of each day to enjoy the patio and light a fire in the beautiful evening air. Everyone we met along the trip was extremely welcoming and kind. Casa Colina had everything that we could have wanted or needed. The internet connection allowed us to stay in contact with our family and friends back home. We enjoyed sending photos daily to show everyone the great time we were having! The view from the house is incredible, and grounds surrounding the home was beautiful. Enjoying coffee each morning on the patio in the wonderful "Perpetual Spring air" was so relaxing. We were very surprised that there were virtually no bugs, though we did see a few spiders inside the home as Bonnie said to expect, but they were harmless. As a family we developed a new view of the country. It was calm, welcoming, peaceful, and GREEN. We will definitely be back! Thanks Guatemala for beautiful weather, spectacular views, and for some of the nicest people on earth!"

  • Wonderful Setting

"Wonderful Setting, beautiful location, quiet...house has interesting custom details as you see from the pictures - very 70ish, hippie-like...bottles in the walls, etc. rock bath was very comfortable, shower was sketchy as hot water came and went rapidly!!! House needs some fixing up but still was comfortable if you are not too particular. The local people we encountered were very nice, especially on the shuttle boats that take you around the beautiful lake. The caretakers/property managers were simply magnificent - Francesca and Rene at Mayan Lake Realty went above and beyond to make our stay the best and are lovely people. Pascal, the guardian of the house was there everyday to help out if needed...All in all, we had a great time..."

  • December Happiness

"Our family stayed at Pamakanya in December and it was simply amazing. Beauty, comfort, wonderful chef (we only had two meals by her lovely hands but they were amazing) The lake is simply magical. The people we met will remain a part of our hearts. We are so grateful we found this house and this place on the earth!"
