  • FANTASTIC HOME NEAR TOWN!

"A friend and I stayed in this wonderful 2 story home about a 10 minute walk from the plaza. It was very quiet, clean and was stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the pool (not heated, but refreshing) after a day of adventuring around Antigua. There is a wonderful attendant at the gate to this complex 24 hours a day. There were three men that rotated their shifts and each was friendly and helpful. The owner was extremely easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend this home!"

  • Beautiful, secluded location to enjoy Lake Atitlan

"We spent 5 days at Casa Wenche and would definitely return. The grounds are breathtaking, with impressive landscaping and endless views of the lake and volcanoes. This property is away from the hustle and traffic of Panajachel but easily accessible by boat. The house is well appointed and will be best enjoyed by the physically fit who are able to navigate the many stairs that connect the home to the village and dock. You also need to be able to board and disembark small boats easily. Casa Wenche is quiet and peaceful, with access to expansive grounds and a nice pool. The caretaker, Ramos, was always available (he lives on the property) and attentive. We also met the welcoming owner, Erik, as he was in town at the main house while we were there. Short boat rides will connect guests with other Atitlan lakeside villages worthy of exploration. A scenic trail connects to a few nearby villages as well. Bring your own groceries from Panajachel and pack light for minimum hardship in traveling by boat. There are some small restaurants within walking distance, too. Casa Wenche is a great value and a rejuvenating place to be. We recommend staying for several days to get the most out of it. Our only wishes for an even better stay would be for a stand-up fan in case of hot days and some screens on the interior windows to help keep the bugs out."

  • Paradise found

"It’s a cliché on review sites to say that photos don’t do a place justice, but it happens to be true in this case. I always thought those scenes of lakes and volcanoes you’d see painted on the sides of hippie vans in the ‘60s and ‘70s were romantic fantasies; now I realize that they were fairly accurate depictions. The house and grounds are amazing, and although it must have been sad to see part of the property disappear under the rising lake water, it’s great to have the water just a few steps away from the house. I already miss my twice-daily swims (one in the morning after sunning like a lizard on the dock, and another in the late afternoon after baking in the sauna.) The kayak was great, too, for exploring the shoreline in either direction, from Tzununa to San Juan. My wife and kids also used it to paddle over to morning yoga classes. Miguel and Mateo are really sweet guys, and were helpful in many ways, such as lighting the sauna and bringing warm tortillas in the morning. Tim was also very helpful and informative, and kept us supplied with freshly baked bread and freshly roasted coffee."

  • Great Location and really cosy

"This house is perfectly located, right by the market and a short walk to the centre of Antigua. The house is cozy and comfortable with everything you need (from kitchen utensils to extra blankets). It is in a gated community and the neighbors are all really welcoming and kind which makes a big difference. We have 2 boys and they were always outside on their bikes. Sandra comes everyday to do the house keeping and is always willing to help. All-in-all a great house in a great location with everything you need to enjoy your stay."
