Recent Guatemala reviews

  • A lovely stay!

"Casa del Sol exceeded all our expectations during our recent Guatemala travels. The delightful historic character, coziness and comfort made this our most memorable stay in Antigua. The caretaker family is gracious, warm and welcoming. The location was terrific, just a few minutes walking to the plaza and within walking distance to sites and restaurants. We will happily return to Casa del Sol!"

  • Great Location and has everything!

"Where to begin....when we arrived, we had a little challenge finding it, but it is in a gated community with guards 24/7. It is a wonderful place and the pictures do not do it justice. Everything was clean and beautiful. The kitchen is well stocked (more pots/pans/utensils than I have in my house of five) and it comes with sheets, towels, water jug, DVD (with recent movies), HDTV, wi-fi, dishwasher, full-sized washer/dryer, a maid (2 days a week), get the picture. It has everything you could want/need. When you go upstairs in the house, you can see the three volcanoes surrounding Antigua. One keeps puffing out smoke! The views are simply amazing. It is very quiet in the house and easy to relax too. The house is located just outside the main area. It is about two short blocks walk to get to the main road in downtown Antigua. It is very easy to walk to the Market area (with many local vendors), great restaurants, Hermano Pedro (orphanage), Bodagano (grocery store), etc....If you just want to see the city of Antigua, you would not need a car. We had a van as we drove through many of the nearby cities which gives you a better appreciation of Guatemala. Antigua is a wonderful city with cobblestone roads and a lot of speed bumps. If you are driving through the city, you will appreciate when you are off the cobblestone roads. It is a nice walking city and seemed quite safe. We always walked together in groups of at least two, but we never felt threatened. The Guatemalan people were very friendly and helpful. Sam is a very nice owner and was quick to respond to my questions as we prepared to travel. Lorena is very friendly too and oversees the property in country. You can't go wrong renting this wonderful property."

  • Great Holiday

"Our group of 4 men used this spectacular house as our base for 4 days of golfing, dining and sightseeing in and around Antigua. The house met or exceeded all claims and owner Ellen was a delight to deal with. Would definitely return."

  • Worth Every Penny!

"My wife and I rented this property for a week and both agree that it was worth every penny. The rooms and decor were great. The grounds and garden amazing. And the customer service all around from Deedle to Ramos and the girls who cleaned the house twice a week was nothing but professional. I would definitely return to this property if I find my self in Santa Cruz again. The view from outside our house of the two volcanoes was picture perfect!"
